The comments :
(1) OH MY GOD!!!!
GINO was fabulous. The outdoor show is the way to go from now on. I took over 500 pictures and I was about 6 feet away for most of the show. I was amazed at the number of people who came... it was packed!!! GINO was in a great mood considering the heat. It was HOT there and muggy and no breeze to speak of. Naturally I was there by 2:30 and walked right in with Toni. The guys were setting up and I spoke to Dave Goldblatt and he was as sweet as usual. Then I saw Mark Kelso and we talked for a while. He was so into playing with GINO he was beaming. I introduced him to Toni and she was really hot so he went over and got us a couple bottles of water and that was great since the stands weren't open yet and we were VERY HOT. Then GINO showed up and proceeded to do a monitor/sound check. He didn't sing much but still, just his presence on the stage and walking around the area to check the sound was great to see. Toni was not impressed.... she was too hot and kept asking me to take her to the car to get cooled off. I kept telling her, "in a minute" and she kept saying" I know how to tell time and it's been many minutes". There was another couple there, Terry and her husband, they were also there with us and Terry played cards with Toni and kept her occupied while I couldn't take my eyes off GINO and the band. The sound check lasted a LONG time and there were charts that needed to be written out for the horn player and a few other little details to fix but after 2 hours or so, GINO and the guys left. It was after 5 now and people were starting to arrive and set up on the lawn and surrounding areas. Terry and her husband and Toni and I took turns going to the car to get cooled off. It was about 90 degreed and very humid. We all were hot. Even GINO commented and said is there any air conditioning here? I had saved 8 chairs up front behind what was suppose to be a dance floor. GINO made a comment about why are you so far back and I told him we were told to stay behind a certain point to allow for dancing. He replied..."dancing?!?" Soon after that they allowed us to move chairs up closer to the stage and little by little we moved up to the stage after he came on to perform. Once he started it was a standing show if you wanted to see anything. The crowd was into it and so was GINO. He was all smiles and having a great time. The crowd was cheering and screaming and it was really a powerful welcoming for GINO to Artpark! I met many GINO fans from "Barend and Trees Shameless Devotion site" and everyone was very friendly. Rob from Buffalo got some pictures of all of us together in front of the stage and he is a photographer so his pictures should be great to see. He had an enormous zoom lens on his camera so I am anxious to see what he captured of GINO. He also volunteered to take pictures while GINO signed autographs at the end for us which was really a nice thing for him to do. People traveled from all over to see GINO and they were not disappointed. GINO put on a great show. He did 3 encores and I didn't write down the songs but I know someone did. He re-arranged Canto a little but it was still amazing. His voice was strong and powerful and the crowd was very responsive to anything he wanted to do. GINO was dancing and moving around a lot more than I have seen him do in a while. He was really into the show. The musicians were tight and having a great time on stage. The band really "jelled" well together. There was a string section and maybe 2 stand up bass players. Some of the arrangements had changed a little, more strings added, more bass lines but all were wonderful additions. It was a powerful performance that I don't think anyone will soon top there at Artpark. I met a couple there who have been to all the free concerts there for the past 2 years and they said it was never so packed or so exciting as GINO was. They loved the show and his voice and I gave them the names of every CD I could think of and they were going to go to Media Play today to buy them. They had only one and were anxious to purchase the rest. After he started to perform Toni came over to me and said she really liked him on stage and was glad to be there with me. I was really touched by that since I had put her through so much waiting for 5 hours in the blazing heat with no water or shade to speak of. She really had a good time and liked when he danced and was on stage. She wasn't at all impressed when he walked by us during sound check but... she came around. At the end when he was signing, we were in line and I told him this was her first time seeing a GINO show and he graciously smiled and since I wanted a picture, he picked her up and put her on the table next to him. I almost died!!! The entire line of people just sighed with feeling when he did that. It was so cute and what a precious memory for me. Toni has no idea what it meant but I will keep informing her for the rest of her life! It was a sweet thing to do and I appreciated that from GINO. He also signed a shirt for her and posed for pictures as usual. He was very relaxed and at ease for this performance. It was a great place to see him perform. The weather cooperated and all went well. It was another GINO performance that sounded amazing and will always hold a special meaning for me. Toni's first GINO experience. She did say on the way home that she had a good time and that he was sort of cute. Then she said... "he's not my favorite singer like he is yours Mom, but I'd go to see him again... in the winter time where we can sit down!" It was an awesome show and GINO seemed to have a great time on stage. I will forward some pictures as soon as they stop downloading.

Gino Vannelli
Just attended his concert last night July 13, 2004 at Artpark in
Lewiston, New York and it was fantastic. It was an outdoor concert and
there wasn't an inch of grass to sit on.... the place was jammed..... Alot
of Italians in the Niagara Falls/Buffalo area that just love him and his
music.

Lewiston was FANTASTIC!
Dear Barend & Trees,
What could be better than hundreds of people out on a perfect summer's evening waiting for one person to come onto the stage?
Would it change your opinion if you found out that the air was pure electric? How about if you found out that this event took place within meters of an international border? And that people from both sides of the border and perhaps from lands far away were in attendance? How about if I told you that it rained the day before and the day after? How about if I told you that the audience demanded and got three encores? What would you say? It must be "GINO!, GINO! GINO!"
And, how could you not love a play list like this:
Wild Horses
Living Inside Myself
Last Dance
Black Cars
Walter Whitman
Canto
Persona-Non-Grata
Parole per mi padre
People Gotta Move
Encore 1: Bother To Brother
Encore 2: I Just Wanna Stop
Encore 3: People gotta Move
And to meet, shake hands with and get your CD signed, how could that be anything less than perfect?
That would be pretty hard to top, wouldn't you agree?
By the way, I mentioned to him that "I received an e-mail from Barend & Trees and that they sent greetings".... At first he looked a bit surprised, but then he had a big smile for that! I just thought that you'd like to know! It was a little difficult to hug him for you as he has guarded by two "smokies" [see below]. Besides, it was the first time that I met him and there were other people waiting patiently in line to get autographs, etc.
More details later....sleep now! It was a long drive in the rain! But, I know that you wanted some info.
Until later,
Chris Buckley. (See Christophers and Liz's fan page !)

( New York State Police wear hats that look like "Smokey the Bear", a forest fire prevention mascot. As the story goes, Smokey was found by rangers up a tree after a forest fire that killed the bear's mother. The fire was apparently started from a careless motorist who tossed out a glowing cigarette butt while driving through one of the national parks. The bear cub was nursed back to health, placed in the national zoo in Washington, DC and became a "spokes-bear", so to speak. The story, while perhaps true to some degree, appears to be more hokey than not and has the hallmarks of being "enhanced" by a Madison Avenue advertising agency. The term "smokey" refers to any policeman [as an insult--to the police, that is] and was made popular by the Bert Reynolds picture "Smokey & The Bandit" during that period in the 1970's when truck driving movies were "in". Whoever coined the term "smokey" probably received a summons to appear in court for speeding! )

Art Park
Dear Barend and Trees,
As I settle back in to reality, here are my mixed reviews from being in
Gino Heaven and having some post show sadness as well.
My husband David and I arrived at Art Park around 3:45 Tuesday afternoon
and while approaching the amphitheater I tuned into the oh so familiar
sound of the string quartet which made me pick up the pace to get to the
stage a bit quicker! There were already a few other curious and anxious
awaiting fans, including Patti Battista seated in front listening to the
practice. There was even a woman from California who I think owned or
worked at a radio station there to hear Gino. A little later Mary Lou,
her sister, Julie and Laura came in.
In spite of the heat Gino appeared to be in a cheerful mood and pleased
with the practice. As the evening progressed the park started to fill
with people and the front seats were being occupied quickly. I could
here comments coming from long time fans who came to the concert with
Gino albums, cd's and cherished photo's hoping to get signed by Gino
after the show. Little did they know that he would take the time to
fulfill everyone's desire to converse with him and get photo's taken as
well. After all, who would have dreamed 25 or so years later they would
be standing next to Gino Vannelli in Art Park!!
Gino started the show with Wild Horses and that was all it took to get
people aroused and realizing that yes, Gino still has what it takes to
rekindle the love for his music. I cannot tell you how many positive
remarks I heard coming from fans and how grateful they were to get to
hear Gino sing again. I thought the band sounded great as usual but now
I am more partial especially to David and Mark. I cannot imagine the
band without them. For being outdoors the acoustics were good even
though my husband said the music sounded better from a distance. He sat
up on the hill in the shade during the practice. I would agree with him
but I wanted to be up front! He continued with Living Inside Myself, The
Last Dance and told the audience that he wrote the song with Joe and
Ross. Then came Black Cars, explaining what prompted him to write the
song, and then Walter Whitman. It seemed so appropriate for being
outside under an evening sky; you could almost sense his presence. I
think Wheels of Life was in there somewhere too???
Gino then started to tell the story about going to Rome and meeting the
Pope which always is amusing. He then sang Canto which brought tears to
my eyes, AGAIN. Hearing Gino sing in Italian is such a honor and gift to
all of us!!!!!!!! After Persona Non Grata someone asked Gino what he has
been doing. He replied, " well I just cut the grass 2 days ago", which
was humorous to hear him say that. He said this show was his only summer
show and later I found out that he was planning to put something
together next year with another cd in the making.
He talked about is father which led him to sing Parole Per Mio Padre,
again with so much love and compassion. He was so well received by now
but after he sang, People Gotta Move, the crowd was really starting to
move!!!!!! Women and men were rushing to the front. When Gino left the
stage, the chanting started, GINO, GINO, GINO and then he came back out
and sang Brother To Brother. By then I thought this is just like the
70's and had wondered if Gino was going to pulled into the audience
again!! But only this time there weren't any body guards!! Just, me,
Mary Lou, Julie, Laura and Patti!!!! We would have caught him!!! Gino
didn't miss a beat, you could tell he was loving it as much as his fans
and the dancing, emotion and singing was so intense that it just added
fuel to the fire! The fans were still screaming and chanting when Gino
left the stage again only to hear more chanting and for a second encore
he came back out and sang I Just Wanna Stop. Again, Gino and band left
the stage with all of us still yelling for more!!!!!!!!! For a third
encore and grand finale he ended with People Gotta Move. It just seemed
no one wanted the show to end but all good things soon come to an end or
at least get put on hold for a while. The practice and show made Gino
history in such a short moment in time. I felt like I no sooner got
there then the day was ended. It ended with such wonderful memories
especially watching Gino receive many people afterwards. Whenever I saw
so many fans standing in line I thought there was no way that Gino was
going to stay that long for such a huge crowd!! As exhausted as he had
to have been, Gino signed autographs, had pictures taken, gave hugs,
hand shakes and listened to his fans endearing remarks until everyone
was received. I even heard someone ask Gino if he enjoyed doing the show
as much as we enjoyed listening and he relied, yes. I think "Persona
Grata" was felt on both ends................ I talked to Mark Kelso
several times and after the show I met his lovely wife. They make such a
great couple.
I just want to thank Gino again for coming to New York with his awesome
band and giving us another great opportunity to hear his beautiful and
charismatic voice. Anyone who entertained the thought of coming and
didn't or just wasn't able honestly missed out. I only see just a part
of the hard work and dedication that is vigorously projected for a show
such as I saw last night, the past months and years. As comfortable as I
may feel, I still get star struck and loss for the right words to say to
Gino each time I see him. I guess on my part, actions speak better than
words......until the next time and I hope it isn't too long,
Thank You Gino for your music and for the people that I have met because
of you.
Love,
Cyndi

The magic of Gino shines brightly at Artpark
Dear Barend and Trees,
Tuesday's FREE Gino concert at Artpark (only a $6.00 parking fee) was
nothing short of AMAZING. It was the ultimate Gino experience; you
couldn't have asked for more, unless he had agreed to play all night. He
did give us three encores.
The weather was perfect by show time (warm but no rain on a beautiful
summer night) as Gino performed in this picturesque outdoor setting with
the Niagara gorge, and the bridge connecting the US to Canada, visible
in the background. The outdoor venue was full (several thousand people I
would guess) and it was probably quite inspiring for Gino, seeing all of
his fans cascading up the side of the hill in front of him. The sound
system was excellent (up to Gino's standards) - mixed and balanced
perfectly so you could hear every instrument, and he brought a string
section along with flute, sax, etc. to supplement his normally expected
instrumentation. Only a single rope separated the front row of seats
(casually placed white plastic chairs) -- from the four-foot-high stage,
only ten feet away.
Dressed comfortably, and all in black, Gino looked inspired throughout
the whole show, and sounded as passionate and intense as we all expect
him to be, with that boyish-smile creeping onto his face often. During
the three encores he danced like it was the 70's again and you could
tell he was in that "zone," that live-venue-adrenaline-rush that
performers get when everything "clicks" and the performance gets
elevated to higher level of intensity than normal.
The show really was that good, and from a spectators point of view, it
couldn't have been a better venue. Not only was the setting comfortable,
with tables and chairs, but you could buy food and drinks (including
wine and beer) and bring them to your table. The very limited amount of
security was friendly and you could walk right up to Gino, or any of the
band members, before or after the show. During Gino's three encores,
people stood up and moved to the front edge of the stage (close enough
so you could touch him) -- dancing and singing as if they were on stage
with him. There were no security personnel to push us away and everyone
enjoyed being able to get so amazingly close. There were also no
restrictions on cameras and you could shoot as much as you liked.
I didn't keep track of the songs he played but I do remember hearing:
Canto, The Last Dance, Black Cars, Walter Whitman, Brother to Brother,
and Wild Horses.
Oh, and lest I forget, the Artpark venue was open all day before the
6:30PM show and you could just walk around wherever you wanted,
including the amphitheater where Gino played. If you happened to get to
the park early, you could have walked right up, sat down at one of the
tables and listened to him rehearse for two hours. I did (for an hour of
it), and so did about 20 or 30 other people. No questions asked and no
hassles. He chatted with people backstage after the rehearsal and you
could just walk right up to him, again with no hassles from anyone.
Gino told me that he has already written and recorded songs for an
upcoming cd but that it won't be out until sometime next year. He also
said that his English version of Canto has not been released yet and
that it is up to his record company when that will happen. Russia is his
next scheduled tour (this fall I believe) and he said Artpark was his
only scheduled concert of the summer. I guess we won't see him stateside
for a while (next year at the earliest), but I heard there was a
September concert scheduled for a balloon festival in Ottawa, Canada
where Gino will sing with.... Bruno Pelletier....
Artpark will go down in my book as one of the most memorable of all Gino
concerts. It was the way all concerts should be enjoyed: close,
personal, intense, romantic and inspiring.
If you didn't go to Artpark -- you should have. It was magical!

Good feelings
Howdy partners,
Safe and sound back at the crib.
The concert was surprisingly great. The band played really tight as if we've been doing this regularly. The crowd loved it and Gino even said, "Not Bad".... who could ask for anything more??
Good feelings to you both. And say hi to John. It was great to see him and his boys there. I only wish we saw your shining faces too.
I'm always looking forward to seeing Gino and playing with him. How fortunate I am to do so.
Sending armfulls of love your way. Hope all is grand.
David and the family.

Artpark
Awesome doesn't even come close to the experience I had on July 13th.
I have waited many years to have the "Gino" experience and it was
everything I knew it would be. He is truely the Master of Music. I
have listened to his music daily for nearly 30 years. My seat in
Artpark was as close to the stage as you could get. What a wonderful
night! Thanks Gino it was great!! Darcy Hamrick (from Logan, Ohio)

A few more details.
Hello again Barend & Trees,
I promised to give you a few more details. As you can see, I get silly when I get tired with that "Smokey The Bear" nonsense. You have to admit it, the hat (stylish as it may be) does match!
Anyway, I sent a few photos over to you. I have approximately 100 that I have placed on a CD-Rom and will mail to you tomorrow morning.
I went to the park at about 10:30 in the morning mainly to find the place and pick out several choice photo spots to head for during the show. The Yahoo driving instructions were right on (a rare occurrence). Even without instructions, the road signs to the Art Park were a snap. I returned back at about 5:10 in the afternoon and I could hear his voice booming in rehearsal. Once you parked your car you had to walk up a hill (or steps--depending on which lot you parked in) to get up to the area where the concert was. As you can see from the daytime photo, the park had a very rustic feel to it. It was like the old amphitheaters in Greece without the stone seats, just plastic ones! (Civilization marches on!) There was plenty of food and drink at reasonable prices.
Hit the picture for the bigger one !!! While $2 for a bottle of water or Pepsi is not cheap, it isn't expensive either. They even had what looked like grilled vegetables stuffed into a pita bread pocket. So, you didn't have to kill your diet if you didn't want to. I decided to go for Buffalo wings after the show. If you don't know, they are chicken wings and drumsticks done in a hot sauce that are very popular over here; invented in Buffalo, NY, thus the name. All things said, the location was very inviting despite the heat and humidity. I felt the beads of sweat running down my back, but I didn't care! Once in a while there was a breeze that felt like heaven and after the sun set it was very comfortable. I didn't realize they had East Coast humidity there. Buffalo is almost the "Mid West". They even call soda "pop" there!
Before the show started, people from the Art Park were selling 50/50 raffle tickets. You buy 10 for $5, the charity takes half and the prize is the other half. Somebody had a winner for just over $600. How can you beat that? You get to see Gino and take home a few bucks! True to my luck with the New Jersey Lottery, I didn't have the winning ticket! No big surprise there! But we all got the grand prize when Gino came out to sing for us!
The local oldies radio station pulled up with their van. They had their own little contest where the winner got to sit at the table behind the ropes up by the stage where, as the man from the radio station put it....[you would be so close that] "Gino would sweat on you" [during his performance]. The winners also received drinks. I'm not sure if that meant beer or was limited to bottled spring water! Nevertheless, it was what it was. As a friend would often say: "It's better than a pointed stick in the eye!" My lottery luck did not improve for that contest either! (Nor has my sad attempt at comedy!)
While the show started at 6:30, the warm up band played for just over and hour and it was 8:15 to 8:20 before Gino came out. During the second encore, most people were standing up and moving towards the stage. There was a large group of women dancing right up next to Gino. By this point, I moved to the center and a guy game alongside and said to me something like "watch, the girls are going to start throwing their underwear at him!" and we both had a good laugh. I think that it was about 9:30 +/- during the final encore which sounded like a replay of "People Gotta Move". By this time, I had moved over to the radio station tent to get in line for autographs. There were about 10 to 12 people ahead of me. The couple ahead of me were looking for a piece of paper to get Gino's autograph. The husband found a charge card receipt from Home Depot (a Do-It-Yourself store), which I thought was amusing. (I was trying to see what he bought up there. A box of nails perhaps? A couple of tubes of caulk? Replacement line for the "weed whacker"? A new reciprocating saw? Try as I might, I couldn't make it out. The light was too poor.) In the end, his wife found something more suitable. I had my Brother To Brother and Canto CD's a decided his autograph would look better on the former. I think that I drove out at about 10:00 pm or thereabouts. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

10 more pictures by Chris Buckley coming up : Here is number one : The musical vibes between Gino and David Goldblatt are just great !!! photo 2 is powerful !!! Photo 3 : 2 keyboard-players ??? behind David Goldblatt is another keyboard-player. Picture 4 is a little bit dark but we still want to show you Gino's face which says it all !!! Picture 5 shows David Goldblatt... Picture 6 : A beautiful silhouette... Photo 7 and photo 8 need NO words.... And the last 2 pictures are number 9 and number 10.

Gino at ArtPark.
Hi Barend and Trees,
Just wanted to say how incredible the concert was. I have not seen Gino in concert since Atlantic City about 3 years ago so I was really looking forward to this night. I took my 3 boys and a friend came along as well. We drove about 7 hours from Connecticut to get to Niagara Falls and then back across the border to see Gino. I had to laugh because the guy at the U.S. Customs Border asked us where we were going and we told him we were going to a concert in Lewiston. He started laughing and said "Oh don't tell me. You girls must be going to see Gino." He said Canadian fans had been crossing over all day!!!!! We had such an incredible evening. The band was excellent but I was surprised not to see Marco and Paul and the rest of the Canadian group that he usually plays with. They all have such great personalities on stage. The park was completely packed with people of all ages. Everyone was dancing and really getting into the music. It's nice when Gino's music can take you away from reality for a few hours. I lot of people stood in line to take pictures with Gino. He was very gracious to every single person. I hope Gino plays more in the United States in the upcoming year. I'm sure a lot of fans miss him around here.

Your website
Hello:
I was at the Artpark concert, too. Today I was looking for a gino website to pass along to my sister (she couldn't go to the concert) and I found yours. I'm so glad! The pictures were great! I agree whole heartedly with the reviews!
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for the whole concert. I had my mom with me and being out in the hot sun (even with an umbrella was too much for her) so we had to leave before it ended. Still, I was glad to read the song list and find out which songs I missed. I think this was the 7th or 8th time I'd seen him.
Anyway, the reason for my email. Do you have any information about Gino's wife? I'm so curious about the woman he loves. Also, have you ever seen a picture of her or his son?
I'm so happy I found your website. I emailed my sister and told her to check it out. Thanks!
Meg

Bravo
I live in Youngstown but hadn't bothered to go to a concert in years and hadn't been to Artpark in so long I can't remember. Wow! Was I glad I was talked into going. I forgot how much I liked Gino!! You could tell he was really in a good mood that night. Probably the best concert I've ever been to.
My only complaint was that it was far too short!! There will never be a more unique and inspiring musician!!

GINO AT ART PARK!!!!!!!
Hello Dear Friends,
Just a quick note to say Hi.
We drove part of the night in terrible rain storms and part of the next day in cloudy weather
to reach Art Park in New York.
The sun broke through the clouds and I have never been so hot in all my life.
We were all a little crazed from the heat and GINO helped us get crazier.
This show was OUTSTANDING in so many ways.
GINO was dancing like he was in his twenties. We were all at the stage at the end singing and dancing along with him.
I am still trying to get back to reality.
Hopefully I will have some time soon to sit down and write my review for you. Until then I am enjoying reading the other
reviews on your site.
Take care,
Mary Lou

Artpark
I know it’s been a week since the show, but I’ve just floated back down to earth. I’ve started to write you numerous times but my mind was still mush. As you know, Ken and I decided to celebrate my 50th birthday by going to see Gino. Well actually he didn’t have any choice. We headed from Pittsburgh to New York about 9:00am. We planned to stop at the hotel before the show but got off at the wrong exit. It must have been fate, because it was the Artpark exit. It was only 2:00, so we decided to go and check out the park and return later in the day. However, when we arrived at the amphitheatre, they were just starting to set up the chairs and the musicians were arriving on stage. I asked one of the volunteers how soon we could “claim” a seat and he sort of looked at me like I was crazy and said it wasn’t like the “land rush” and that the show wasn’t starting for five more hours and that Gino would not be on for probably six. I refrained from calling him a smart ass and I started to explain about Gino and his fans…. but I think I was just scaring him. We decided to stake our spot anyway and grabbed a table and chairs. We weren’t there very long when Patti and Toni came. When Ken saw that Patti was as “smitten” I was, he decided to sit as far away as possible. (He’s been a fan for 30 years too but a little different caliber). It was so nice meeting both of them. They made the day even more special and we had a lot of laughs while baking in the sun.
We were there about a half hour when Gino walked on stage. Talk about being star-struck. After a minute he walked off and stood next to us for a sound-check. It was like he waved a magic wand and I turned into a thirteen year old school girl. I couldn’t even function. I had all these intelligent comments and complements that I wanted to share, if I ever had the chance but forget it. I don’t think I moved out of my seat until Gino was shuttled away. Patti has done a great job describing the rest of the afternoon. Gino never ceases to amaze. My music lingo isn’t very good, but the songs were all juiced up with added orchestration, even Canto. Everyone thought the Canto songs were beautiful. I must have showed 15 people my CD and told them where to buy it. I also told them to visit your website to see what Gino’s “been doing” so you’ll probably get a million hits. My French is even worse than my music vocabulary, so I was unable to catch all the French musician’s names when Gino introduced them. However, I did catch Natalie Bonnet’s (?) She played the sh__ out of the violin. I thought her arm would fall off. The strings sounded so great. “Persona Non Grata” sounded amazing and was so much fun. Between the strings, flute, and David on the piano, it was truly unbelievable. Everyone was so into it, David was standing up and pounding the keys, Gino was grinning from ear to ear and conducting, the bows were flying and the fans were going crazy. At least Patti and I were, I never took my eyes off the stage to look behind me. Gino also added all the strings to “Black Cars”, unbelievable.
It was interesting to hear what everyone’s favorite songs were, they spanned Gino’s entire career. They all wished he would sing something different. I heard songs from every CD mentioned. It would be great to hear him add the orchestra to songs like New Fix for 76, Jack Miraculous, Evil Eye, Alive by Science, etc. with beats you can’t seem to get out of your head.
After the show Patti and Toni let me cut in line for an autograph. Somehow I managed to ask Gino to sign an Artpark shirt with “Happy 50th”, which of course he did. The problem is I can’t remember if I said please or thank you, and I was too paralyzed to stand next to him for a picture. It was so embarrassing. That’s the back of my head on the picture that Rob McElroy sent. I think Gino’s asking someone between his teeth to “get this lady out of here.” Oh well, back to reality.
Love to you both

Lewiston NY
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!
I got hooked on Gino thanks to my sister Mary Lou and have seen him 4 times since 2003. The first time was in Atlantic City, then Quebec, and then at Lewiston. All the concerts have been wonderful and the people who travel with him are outstanding. I heard his music back in the 70's but since then have been preoccupied with children. Now I am just a traveling GINO fan. His voice is like I remembered it and he can still shake that body. This concert by far was the best one I have seen so far. Being that it was outdoors made it sooooooo special. You could not see the tables, or the lawn by the time he started. The entire place was completely covered with GINO FANS. I have never been to an outdoor concert and it was by far the most FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE I ever had. He played to the crowd and the three encores were simply outstanding. When I get the pictures scanned I will send them to you. Thanks for having this web site. It is FANTASTIC

Re: GINO AT ART PARK!!!!!!!
Dear Barend & Trees,
I am still riding that magical high from seeing GINO in concert.
Of course the Art Park pages are very well put together as you always do a great job.
Everyday I check to see if there is something new.
I am so happy to see all the beautiful pictures from the show.
GINO was in great form and spirit that evening and the pictures show him at his best.
When I read the attendance number for the show, I was so happy for GINO and the band.
Let's hope this is the beginning of many many more concerts with a large crowd for GINO.
He certainly deserves to be recognized for the outstanding musician and singer he is.
BRAVO BRAVO MAESTRO! YOU ARE THE BEST!!!!!!!!!
Luv,
Mary Lou
Thanks for the information about GINO at the Balloon Festival in Gatineau.
Just booked my flight and hotel for that weekend.

Hello Barend and Trees!
It's 1982, Jacksonville, Fl, USA, a superb concert by Gino and
afterwards. . . . serendipity. In a hotel lounge we meet Gino! It was
my 30th birthday and he shook my hand and wished me well. What a night!
No camera so no pictures, bummer. June, 2004 I'm reading your web site
(Thank You VERY MUCH) and see that he will be in Lewiston just after
we'll be in Boston for a family wedding, serendipity again! We're on
our way to Canada and made sure we went to the show. Still have a hard
time believing we saw him, for free, after so long. Everything you've
read from all those who were there is true.
It was a fantastic, magical evening. We also were there hours early and
watched them set up and rehearse, trying to figure out what song it was
they were working on. They only worked on segments and he changed the
songs somewhat, having strings and flute and sax added to the band. I
wish Gino would produce a cd with his older songs redone in the same
way Black Cars was or as he did Down with Love on the Slow Love cd. All
the songs were fabulous, he certainly seemed to be very happy, lots of
smiles with that look of satisfaction and knowing the audience was
really appreciating what he does. The band was excellent and performed
perfectly. They really got into the music too along with the audience.
Towards the end of the night, the lead violinist was up on her feet,
her bow flying across those strings! It was super seeing each musician
playing their heart out and Gino prancing around the stage pointing out
each lead player when they did their solos.
He was having a wonderful time, and so were we. God has so gifted this
man, it's incredible. And he always finds the best musicians to play
his creations. Not all of my family was with us so I dialed them up and
held the phone up for them to listen to a song each. They were so happy
to hear him. Lot's of great people there. Got to talk with many of
them. One fellow was a good friend of Mark. Said they'd been in a band
together and always loved Gino's music and could'nt believe that now
Mark was Gino's drummer. Other people had come from all over the
country as far away as California. We thought we came far, South
Carolina. We did have a camera this time and after the show, Gino was
signing his autograph for my two sons. While signing them, I asked if
he remembered meeting my wife and I 22 years ago. He shook his head no,
I said I can't believe that and he chuckled as I took a picture of him.
After we left, there were so many things I thought of to say to him and
wished I had the time to talk with him, but who doesn't right? It would
be so fine if he could know us all and call us friends and spend time
together just having fun. Oh well, maybe one day. . . For now, it has
to be enough that we heard and saw him alive and looking so well,
performing for us his majestic creations. He truly is in a class all by
himself. His music touches the very core of your heart, soul, mind and
spirit. And it gets your body moving too. You told us to enjoy the
concert to the fullest when you responded to our birthday wish to Gino
and we did! Thanks for all you do with this site, we all appreciate it
very much.
Mark and Karen Gilmour, South Carolina, USA.
Pictures made by Mark and Karen number 1 and number 2 and number 3 and number 4 and number 5. The picture of Gino between Mark and Karen's words is made by Mark.

Hello Friends in Holland!!
Thank you. I've already Checked it out. Daily!!!!!! I haven't had a chance to write and tell
you what a wonderful job (as usual) that you've done on the Artpark page. I'm still spending my
evenings watching the video from the concert. Even the portions when my husband Ken thought he
had it on pause and didn't realize he was taking video of his foot!!! But I can still hear Gino
in the background.
I'm still trying to figure out if Quebec is doable. I've never been that far up in Canada and I'm
worried about whether everyone will be speaking French! Even though it would be great to
experience that as well.
I hope your summer is going well, and you're not spending all of your free time working on the
website. I know Gino wouldn't want you to! There's too much in life not to miss.
Love to you both,
Terry

'Artpark' - Pictures coming soon
Hi Barend and Trees, I hope you are both keeping well. It has been quite a while since I have written to you both. Besides work, my home computer has been acting up...too slow, etc... it has been very frustrating. I have now had my pc purring like a "Black Car" in the shade...
Gino's Artpark concert in Lewiston New York was GREAT! Gino was very relaxed and it was neat watching him rehearse a couple of hours before the concert. The temperature was hot and humid...the temperature rose even further once Gino hit the stage.
I thought this was kind of interesting, as you know, between songs Gino often talks with the audience about how he came to write a song... And he was telling a story that meant a lot to him...
I have to get going. I wish you both the best. I will send my pictures to you in the next few days.
Cheers!
Gord B. from Toronto, Canada.

Dear Barend & Trees.
I have been a fan of Gino's since the 70's. I have seen his concerts through the years and have been in love ever since. I was at Artpark in July 2004 and what can I say he was exquisite as always. His voice goes right through me. I had the opportunity to talk to him and have my picture taken with him. It was the most magical night of my life. Now I hear his new song and I'm in love all over again. His voice is phenomenal. It just keeps getting better with age.
All I can say is keep creating Gino... for you have many, many fans who love you and will still continue to buy your music. Gino FOREVER!!!!!
