Dear Trees and Barend,
A few words from the editors B&T who also live in Holland. The date Wednesday 25 March 2009 with the subject: NO way we can get over this Gino Vannelli in zoetermeer concert!!! This concert was again such a concert with those feelings... Feelings only a GINO VANNELLI music-lover will recognize... INCREDIBLE, impressive, wild, violent, COOL, aggressive, swinging, good, very good, way too short, funky, everything was OK and everything was super kicking and this time words cannot describe our feelings, you really, really had to be there and breath the air with Gino Vannelli's music and voice! The band was tight and rocking or do we say jazzying? Gino and 8 Musicians and the crew worked very hard to get the audience satisfied and the people of the audience were more than satisfied!!! There were 2 encore's because the audience did not stop screaming and yelling: "GINO... GINO... GINO... and more Gino's..."
Erik Rutjes played such a good guitar solo in "A GOOD THING" and when Hans Eijkenaar hits the drums the song comes out more powerful and with "Brother to Brother" we looked to Hans Eijkenaar's drumming with open mouths and with big admiration. Together with Gino's voice and the whole band the music explodes into magic and the emotions go wild.
The setlist was pretty much the same like in Maastricht: From This Day On - A GOOD THING - Wild Horses - Black Cars - Hurts To Be In Love - The DutchBeat - Canto - Brother To Brother -
The Musicians of Gino Vannelli's band were fabulous again and the biggest part of the audience could not hear a few little mistakes of the brass section but the so-called music experts noticed it for sure! The editors always receive
Karel Boehlee's expressions on his face while playing the keys says it all!!! Karel has a real musicians heart...
Erik Rutjes played the guitar so cool and relaxed and is very serious and eager to learn from Gino and Gino Vannelli's music!!! Wowwww great guitar-player and a great human being...
Theo de Jong a bass-guitar player who plays by the heart and gives this Gino Vannelli show that special bass sound which is needed in Gino Vannelli's songs... SUPER STRONG BASS with a Vannelli melody... and a Theo de Jong touch!
Hans Eijkenaar the most powerful drummer we ever saw and heard, the way he works in some of the Gino Vannelli songs is a joy to watch and to listen to... Hans Eijkenaar's drum sound goes through the ground and than thru your body and his drumming gives even more quality to the whole show.
Eddy Conard and his feeling of rhythm in Gino Vannelli's music is so fantastic to watch and his backing vocals are great! Very nice and enthusiastic personallity who gives himself for a 110% and plays Gino Vannelli's music with his heart. Gino knows who to select for His band!!! Gino Vannelli knows who to choose for His Dutch Band.
After the concert there was a signing session but that was madness and crowded but again Gino did His best to sign everything people pushed into His hands. Gino was exhausted but still went through the busy concert-hall for the signing session, people pushed Him and wanted to have a picture with Him and all this after this powerful concert! Deep respect for the Man and His Music: GINO VANNELLI!!! He has a real down to earth character... Our personal opinion about this Gino Vannelli concert is too good for words everything went so smooth also the sound equipment was great and the People of the Boerderij were so nice and helpful, we are impressed by the People of the Boerderij and thank them all with our hearts...
Just a few emotions, feelings and impressions:

Brother to Brother, Black cars, It hurts to be in love, I just wanna stop en Dutch Beat kwamen we weer uit bij de toegift People gotta move en Don’ t give up on me, Waarna we maar weer naar huis gingen in afwachting van het volgende concert.
English/Engels: An e-mail from Loek Pijpers in Rijswijk, Holland Tuesday dated 24 March 2009 with the subject: Gino in Zoetermeer
Dear Barend and Trees, He started with From this day on, the song, I think is the best song on the new cd together with Gypsy Days. Also Wild Horses again in a very beautiful arrangement just like in the Hague, I love to listen to this Wild Horses on cd, very special! I noticed that Gino was very happy and He really liked it and was in the right mood. This enthusiastic vibe flew over to the band of course, in which Hans Eijkenaar together with Karel Boehlee excelled, those two were brilliant. After (luckely) Gino sang Canto and also Brother to Brother, Black cars, It hurts to be in love, I just wanna stop en Dutch Beat we ended again with the encores People gotta move en Don’ t give up on me, we went home hoping for a next concert. This man makes such fantastic music and such wonderful melodies that I am surprised everytime about the quality of His new cd's : In one word excellent.! I will not speak this time about the loud beer-drinking so-called "music-lovers" who behave without respect towards Gino.... OK? And in my opinion the volume of the band has to go down, because Gino must sing like crazy, He has to sing the buttons off His pants... but I will not tell you this either. Gino thank you so much again for this breathtaking concert! Holland loves you.
Barend very nice that I could speak to you for a second at the signing session (Thanks for the poster, don't tell anybody, OK?) and Trees I saw you with your camera but I could not come near you because of the crowd, it was so busy. So I keep the picture of Gino and me in mind! I also talked to Wil (me hanging on the stairs), was great fun.
Heyyyyy Barend & Trees.
Gino’s stem ging weer overal doorheen, zo helder, wauw!!!!!
Gino, thanks again and again for this wonderful weekend, you make people smile........and please, Don’t Give Up on Holland!!!!!!! English/Engels: An e-mail from Wil Spelbos in Utrecht, Holland dated Tuesday 24 March 2009 with the subject: Gino in Zoetermeer
Heyyyyy Barend & Trees. This time I was with my Son Roy and a very good friend of Him Rense, very nice and cosy and so funny that those young boys wanna go out with me such an old woman. We had super great standing place in the front row right in front of the mic. (Yes Ron, this was worth while a dance of joy, hahaha!) It's so good to feel the tension and exciment in the audience and it grows and grows coming close to the beginning of the concert, thrills and shivers all the time and everytime, over and over again......
When Gino and the band came on stage the whole audience was super enthusiastic.
Gino's voice went through everything again, so crystal clear, wow!!!!!! And He had those bright lights in His glorious eyes........ An evening full with joy for everybody but it went way too quick. One thing is for sure: Everybody went home with a very good feeling.
Gino, thanks again and again for this wonderful weekend, you make people smile........and please, Don’t Give Up on Holland!!!!!!!

Hi Trees and Barend, Here is my personal experience:
Gino Vannelli and the Musicians in the cultural Boerderij in Zoetermeer on 22 March 2009: It was a party which ended way too soon and where I was allowed to be for real. Watching, enjoying, looking, listening, a good air and I want more...
I will hear from you for sure if this is right for the web site like this, but this were my feelings and you can put my name underneath my little piece, I feel no shame about this. Have a nice day and I will follow your web site for sure. Hoi Trees en Barend, English/Engels: An e-mail from Donja & Carlos in Capelle aan den IJssel, Holland Tuesday dated 24 March 2009 with the subject: Come back soon...
Hi Trees and Barend, Yes it's an addiction, for sure! I am very, very happy though that we were present in the beginning of Gino Vannelli in Holland. Everything was still so easy, smooth and kind-hearted and no organized meet & greets but just a small tête-à-tête somewhere in the back, also with you Guys, that was so very special to us both......
The fun of it all is that we saw Gino grow and grow to sold-out concerts where everything had to be organized, otherwise they tear Him apart hahaha... A little bit of the 70's in a smaller way.
I hope Gino is happy and satisfied with the things He achieved in the last couple of months. Oh well, not completely of course because He alsways will be critical. I hope He can relax after the concerts in Canada, and you guys too of course. And when He rested well and Mexico is done He has to come back to Holland again because than it already lasted too long hahahaha.
I cannot think about the fact that He throws up His coin again and settles Himself in another country... An e-mail from Anja in The Hague, the Netherlands dated 24 March 2009 with the subject: COOL!!! Hello, I'm trying in English, good practise! I was at the Boerderij last Sunday and I thought it was "VET GAAF" in Dutch and maybe it's super cool in English. Gino Vannelli gave me a great evening....... And those musicians were awesome... And cool to hear People Gotta move live!!!!!!!!!! I enjoyed it all very much and the people in the audience were great! Thanks and this is a funny web site to surf thru..........Anja. You never can tell English/Engels: An e-mail from Flip Stiefelhagen from Holland Wednesday dated 25 March 2009 with the subject: Homepage ONE GINO VANNELLI...
Hi Barend and Trees, I was also at the concert in the Trojan Horse in The Hague, the next day I bought tickets for Zoetermeer immediately. I like to go to especially jazz concerts for already more than 30 years, so I have seen a few hundred I think, but for sure Zoetermeer is in the top 10. After I came home I enjoyed the after-fun and of the new CD A GOOD THING and after that I played my dvd of the live North Sea Jazz concert with the Metropole Orchestra.
I follow Gino from the Crazy Life LP, for me it's still one of my favorites together with Yonder Tree. It's a pity there is almost nothing on dvd of Gino. Two video's and a tv-show about the North Sea Jazz 2002 and a VPRO tv program with Michiel Borstlap. I am searching for a long time to the Ohne Filter concert which was broadcasted on the German tv. You as true fans will have that show for sure. Is there a chance that Gino will perform at the The Hague Jazz in May 2009? Karel Boehlee plays there with Trijntje Oosterhuis, maybe Karel can help with arranging a duet with Trijntje? You never can tell

Hey hallo, English/Engels: An e-mail from Leon Driessen, the Light Engineer from Holland Wednesday dated 25 March 2009 with the subject: good GIG
"Said my, oh my! And the moon and the stars shine on."
English/Engels: A second e-mail from Mdeb, in Schiedam, Nederland dated Sunday 29 March 2009 with the subject: Soundcheck Zoetermeer
Hello Barend and Trees,
I cannot find the right words to describe how fantastic and unreal at the same time this experience was to and for me; even now when I think back to this event, I wonder if this really happened:
First the phone rings - a few hours before we had to go to Zoetermeer for the concert : And then you are the witness of the perfectionism of Gino Vannelli for 2 hours long; all songs, which I heard in The Hague before in the Trojan Horse, are rehearsed/discussed/taken through/broken off and partly repeated; All the musicians dedicate themselves for the full 100% - also without an audience - They do not leave nothing to chance. This makes me think of a carpenters workshop, where they keep on working/cutting/polishing/sandpapering/filing, till the end of perfection in a product. Only the smell of sawdust is missing "Said my, oh my! And the moon and the stars shine on." I cannot describe how it feels to hear this live in a concert-hall with only a few people and then look at eachother and smile, a smile which cannot be deleted anymore. ( By the way still smiling at the moment! ) Such a privilege and honour to be there at that moment. And than after all this there is the real concert that same evening, where everybody may and can admire the "final product". Trully.... A lack of words; I read many times in e-mails addressed to you two that it is very difficult and hard to describe what Gino Vannelli's music does to people and what happens with the emotions of people and now I experience exactly the same. What's happening??? It makes me want more and more for sure, so I keep my eyes and ears open and watch your site anxious and look for the Latest News about the upcoming concerts. And in the meantime I cherish the pictures from that day, my memories of that afternoon, my memories about that evening, my "yellow backstage pass bracelet". And I watch You Tube everyday to recent live-recordings to keep the feelings of that day in my heart.
I am so very grateful and thankful to
everybody, who made this
"once-in-a-lifetime" experience possible for me - and of course in the first place Gino Vannelli Himself. Nederlands/Dutch: Een e-mail van Martin, Vera, Gino & Enzo uit Zoetermeer in Nederland d.d. Vrijdag 3 April 2009 met het onderwerp: From the Gino Vannelli A GOOD THING web page number 17...
English/Engels: An e-mail from Martin, Vera, Gino & Enzo from Zoetermeer in Nederland dated Friday 3 April 2009 with the subject: From the Gino Vannelli A GOOD THING web page number 17... Reaction on the concert in Zoetermeer. First a big compliment for Barend and Trees, you two manage a super site for Gino already for years and years. Fantastic, and what a big job for you two to do! I follow Gino already for years. And made a Hyves recently for him, so we are very active too.
Gino in Zoetermeer was superb, we looked forward to this concert so much as usual. We try to follow and visit the concerts/performances as many as possible and this time our boys of 15 and 17 years old went with us, they grew up and they are raised with Gino's music of course. Gino did His very best again, you can never ever get enough of it and it's always a bummer when the end of the show is there, and so fast. But His new cd is so beautiful, and a too cool booklet with poems. Very wonderful songs, also the ones He sang in Zoetermeer. And He still has the looks, that special look which He throws into the audience with those keen eyes, the real Gino Vannelli look! Wow! And that perfectionism which you always discover in Him, especially that's so very good. The music have to be good and also the atmosphere, you can feel that in everything. I think it's everything or nothing. And He puts such an emotions into His music.
It would be nice to meet Him one day. That should be the top for us.
Still a note for
Barend and Trees. An e-mail from Maru in Mexico City dated 3 April 2009 with the subject: ZOETERMEER
Hi dear friends:
Beste mensen,
Ben gisteravond naar Gino's optreden geweest in Zoetermeer. Toen was er nog een teleurstelling. Gino zou eigenlijk optreden in Augustus, in Leiden. CD opnames. Hoewel te begrijpen, was de teleurstelling groot.
En dan nu dit optreden. Geweldig!! Wat kan de man fantastisch zingen. Wat een heerlijke avond.
Dear People,
I was in Zoetermeer last evening at Gino's concert. Than there was another disappointment. Gino should have performed in August 2008 in Leiden at the Rapenburg festival. That is my hometown and where I have my own little café around the corner of Rapenburg. You can understand that I was so enthusiastic and happy. But it was cancelled. He had to do his CD recordings. I can understand that of course but still the disappointment was very big and deep.
And than there is this concert in Zoetermeer. Fantastic!! This man can sing so fantastic and I had such a lovely and great evening.
