We really are the lucky onces Its hard to find words for a concert of Gino, you have to be there. Gino rocks ( he put's the pedal to the metal) saturday we where lucky with 3 songs from Canto, no rock there but, feelings of happiness and a state of mind i want to live in the rest of my life. Dont now much about music, i just hear and feel it How can someone make suchs totally different kind of music (compare Canto to Dutchbeat)etc etc and simply be the best in it. To me its still a mystery We are just the really lucky onces in the lowlands to be a part of this mindblowing Man
Gino all i can say thanks a million
hope you grow old in the lowlands
never leave us, where addicts
Lelystad used to be water, the sea, the Zuiderzee. What a history... We drive with Gino along the IJsselmeer and tell Him a little bit about the history... Gino loves the landscape of the country when we drive from Amsterdam to Lelystad... Lelystad has a nice and very modern theater called the Agora theater and the people welcome us nicely... The concert-hall is amazing and very redish with 752 seats and still very intimate... The soundsystem is good and John the soundengineer works very hard to get it all ready. Big fun Bert does the soundcheck of the drums and Gino lateron because the Drummer will be late this Saterday afternoon because of another gig at the music café... They all have fun and the soundcheck takes a few hours but goes very smooth... Bert van den Brink on the Grand-Piano is such a sensation and again it's hard to explain our feelings about this performance, the Man plays Gino Vannelli's music with such pleasure and passion and He has this humour, special humour! GREAT! The way Gino and Bert click is amazing, there is tension, there is electricity, there is energy and there is a BIG fun but especially the music, the music makes them connect and brings out the best of both men... The Master of Music: GINO VANNELLI!!! The Master of the Grand-Piano: Bert van den Brink. People Gotta Move in their version with the Bass-player Clemens van der Feen and the Drummer Marcel Serierse is our most favorite ever, it's the same People Gotta Move like they played it on Radio 538 on 27 January 2009. Amazing... fantastic... A concert which stays in our heads forever... And our heads are a mess right now with all the concerts in the last 3 months... What a big treat!!! The first row is covered with hard-core fans and again they are blown away by the quality of this concert and Gino is in the funny mood with great stories and long stories... The audience is listening and laughing and also reaction to Gino's words....... Fantastic concert-hall with people on the stairs and totally packed!!! During the CANTO medley people are quiet and it was a Jazz Festival but people did not behave like festival people, thank God! They were fascinated by Gino Vannelli's voice and music for sure! Bert also went to the Nord keyboard and they did the DutchBeat which was so fabulous and impressive... During People Gotta Move (Superb version) Gino played the Nord keyboard. You could really feel the joy in Gino's performance and Gino must have felt very happy because a day later He should go home again!!! Home to the comfort of His Wife and Son. Those 4 musicians and the crew made again many people happy that evening in Lelystad and certainly when both Gino and Bert went to the signing session to sign people's A GOOD THING cd-book. For us the editors it was so strange to be backstage in the artist's room because we saw people, very famous in Holland, and whom we always see on TV all the time like Cor Bakker and they all were so friendly and "normal"! Even musicians with whom Gino played 9 years ago came to us and recognized us both... "Hey hello our Gino Friends..." We had a peaceful ride back to Gino's home and the air in the car was again hilarious two naughty men in the car who had to cool down is not easy so an outburst of dirty jokes made Trees's ears grow red and more red... Hahahaha... Gino was also so grateful about Holland and the Dutch people who came to His concerts and bought His new big time life's work. And Gino was overwhelmed by the welcome He felt overhere in Holland also among many musicians... B&T 5 April 2009.
And Gino.....what can I say...... thank you for your beautiful music and a great evening, it will be in our hearts forever !!!!! English/Engels: A review from Wil Spelbos in Utrecht, Holland, dated 1 April 2009 with the subject: A super evening with Gino in Lelystad !!!!
Hi Barend & Trees. So this time Gino in Lelystad together with Bert...... Strictly speaking I should not go to this concert in Lelystad because I had a weekend away with my Sister... But lucky me I have a very sweet Sister who already knows for years and years that I cannot miss a Gino concert and what a coincidence! we stayed in the neighbourhood of Lelystad and she was so sweet to go with me to Gino. Oh well, we absolutely had no regrets about this decision !!!!!! Of course we wanted to try to get a good close by seat, together with Ron and Marian, who made me extra happy for being there too in Lelystad!!! And you two were right Barend and Trees, it was really first come, first served that evening.......... So we were warned and with the 4 of us we went already before the Gino concert into the concert-hall...... Yessss first row seats. And how funny and nice Barend and Trees, that you two could have 2 front row seats too during Gino's performance !!!! And than the concert........ I can keep it short because there are no words to describe this concert !!!!!!!!!! So very incredible beautiful !!!!!!!! Gino together with Bert, what a great combination............ There were new arrangements again which changed the songs into something special again and sounded different. The sound and especially Gino's voice was so crystal clear that all 750 people hang upon Gino's lips. Like always time flies by, way too fast, but my, oh my, this was again such a wonderful evening!!!!!!!!! And to close off this evening in a super top way we had the chance to say goodbye to Gino personally and we could thank Him. Lucky us! Gino received our good wishes in a warm and happy way. Dear Barend and Trees, this was it, but we can write for many more hours and hours, hope to see you soon again and good luck with everything!!!!!!
And Gino.....what can I say...... thank you for your beautiful music and a great evening, it will be in our hearts forever !!!!!
An e-mail from TS in the USA dated Tuesday 7 April 2009 with the subject: Lelystad Thank you for the Gino and Bert duo pages - they look great!!!!!!!! An e-mail from Johan and Anneke in Lelystad, Holland d.d. Tuesday 7 April with the subject: We try it in English... We saw this Lelystad website and we were surprised because we were there too... We did not know Gino Vannelli but we were impressed by his performance and we really enjoyed ourselves. We had to e-mail you Gino Vannelli fans and tell you how we feel. We also bought Gino's new cd and we really like it and the more we listen the more we appreciate it.
We surf through this website and learn about Gino Vannelli's style and work and we also remember the LP Powerful People with His face in a kind of orange colour and we knew that his music is in the ANWB commercial, we loved the Di-rect commercial where they also sing PEOPLE GOTTA MOVE... So we had a great time and we wanted YOU to know....... Thanks for all the Vannelli information and yes we will write it with 2 "NN".
English/Engels: An e-mail from Tineke in Holland dated 1 April 2009 with the subject:: Gino in Lelystad!!!!!!!!!
Dear Barend and Trees, First his performance with Bert, what a great duo, what an energy have these two together...........soooooooo fantastic to see and absolutely fabulous to hear!!!!
To be short.............. Big and warm thanks again for your generous gift.
The fact that I can do everything again and that I just started my "new" life with
"GINO", gives me a feeling beyond description. To be clear and understandable: I have a terrible serious chronic illness and I was dependent on my wheelchair for 7 years. But because of lots of practice and therapy and new medication I started my new life in 2009. A life including "GINO" forever!!!!!!
An e-mail from Harry who lives in Lelystad, Holland dated 2 April 2009 with the subject: Gino Vannelli in the Agora. I'll try in English too... My thoughts seem to be difficult to put into words. The inadequacy of my vocabulary makes it even more difficult but Gino Vannelli was very good, great voice and Bert van den Brink was very good too! All is said already but I still had to say how I enjoyed the Jazz Festival, especially Gino Vannelli! He is not my idol but he is is an true entertainer. The audience reacted great! Enjoyable evening and to whom who make this site thanks for all the information, love to learn more about Gino Vannelli's work and you seem to be true fans. Sincerely, Harry.
Seabottom Jazz Festival..., North Sea Jazz in a small edition..., but with big names. 30 March, 2009 08:57:00 Marjolein van Norde. An article of the INC-News photographer Rick van Gerven. LELYSTAD - The Seabottom Jazz Festival…, like the North Sea Jazz.., a little bit smaller, but greatness in quality. The Sea Bottom Jazz Festival in Lelystad proves it's right to exist every year again and again, with an attractive program in an attractive beautiful theater. Again the Agora was full of quality music during this 19th edition of the festival. Especially on Saterday evening there were fine-sounding big names who left there marks in music in the meantime...Gino Vannelli & Bert van den Brink on piano, took care of a complete crowded concert-hall in this theater, and did a polished good performance, and of course they performed the world hit “you gotta move”, admittedly a very jazzy version, but that's ok on a jazz festival. Vannelli is still a "hit" all over this world. After Lelystad Canada and Mexico are waiting for Gino where he will continue his tour.
Seabottom Jazzfestival is imminent 11:10 27 March 2009. This weekend the Seabottom Jazzfestival 2009 in the Agora in Lelystad is going to happen and there are some BIG (inter) national jazznames. The ‘jazznight’ on Saterday 28 March is characterized by a range of jazz styles, international style, homeland pride, upcoming talent and "absolute starters". In this last group are the winners of the second Jazz-i Award. And the absolute top is the Canadian Gino Vannelli (‘People gotta move…’) and the pianist Bert van den Brink.
