PAROLE PER MIO PADRE :
( A WORD TO MY FATHER )

Io me ne andro’
Senza te nei miei giorni avro’
Quei momenti insieme a te
Che danno forza ancora per insistere

Love, betrayal
Seperation, regret
The hope of deliverance
Urging me onward

Padre
Ed ora io so
Comprendere tutti i ricordi che ho
E poi tutto quel che sei
E quando un uomo deve
Saper resistere

Father, may I have a word with you
A Son is not the promise
Of a father's unfulfulled dreams
Nor is he heir to his every mistake
Let us meet halfway between two worlds
If only for our children's children sake

Quanto mi mancherai
Quando il mio cuore batte forte
Allora io
Ho bisogno di Dio,
Ho bisogno di te

How I miss you
But the heart
remains troubled
So I reach for God
As I reach for you

Si’, voglio vedere il mare
Cercare anche un po’ di me
In tutto quel che vedo

What was once divided in life
Cries out to be unified in death

Quanto mi mancherai
Quando il mio cuore batte forte
Allora io
Ho bisogno di Dio
Ho bisogno di te

I love you
Yet my heart
Remains unsettled
So I reach for God
As I reach for you

Cambiero’ la mia sorte
Quando il mio cuore batte forte
Allora io
Ho bisogno di Dio
Ho bisogno di te
Anche un piccolo momento
E’ troppo senza te

I remain heartsick
Let us make peace
Therefore
I pray to God
As I say to you
Moments are eternities
Until we do

I miss you...

A Friend of ours, Cherilyn, translated the words of : "Parole Per Mio Padre" to the English language, that was before the release of Gino Vannelli's new album CANTO in May 2003 because on the new CANTO album is : "Parole Per Mio Padre" too with Gino Vannelli's own translation, see above next to the Italian words. Cherilyn told us how very diffucult it was to translate because it's a kind of Italian poem... and we understand what she means. We thank Cherilyn for taking the time to try to translate "Parole Per Mio Padre" for us and for all of you. She already made this translation in 2001.

A WORD TO MY FATHER

I am leaving
Without you in my life I will have
Moments together with you
Which give strength still
To insist (Carry on)

And how I know
How to undestand tha memories I have
And everything you are
And howmuch a man must
Know how to resist

However much I will miss you
When my heartbeats fast
Then I
Need God
I need you

Yes I want to see the sea
Search also for myself
In everything I see

However much I will miss you
When my heart beats fast
Then I
Need God
I need you

I will change my ways
When my heart beats fast
Then I
Need God
I need you

Even the smallest moment
Is too much
Without you

THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT :

The name is Frank Steiner...
I believe we've met...
Just did a man...
Huh....got a cigarette

Got icy chips for a brain
A ticker made of pistons
I may be slow...moooooo,
But I know the legal system

I don't believe in heaven
Hell-fire leaves me cold
Now why should I be scared
When I got no soul

I got the right to remain silent
You know I do......
I got the right (oooohuhhhh) to remain silent
BOOHOOHOOOOOOOO

I do a shot o' gin, a putt o' hemp
A'shroom to make things nice
A little o'this a little o' that
A dash o' sugar to add some spice

I can hurt and I can mame
I can get the whole world miffed
And if my lawyer runs' unto a snag
Well hey I'll plead the fifth

I can swear I can cuss
I can say anything, I reckon
When the censors try n' nail me,
I can hide behind the second

I'm the beautiful sign of the times
I am...what I am fed
You can cage me, you can fry me
You make me famous instead

I have the right yeahhhhh to remain silent
oooohuhhhhhh........
I have the right yeahhhhh to remain silent
I have the right yeahhhhh to remain silent
Ain't no proof why should I admit
I have the right to remain silent
Truthhhh we all know who did it

Here I am
Caged inside the brain
A melted candle flickering
In the rain

I'm not at all
The monster people see
I am less the way things are
Than what they should be

I was his soul
I was his guide
I tried to reach out
But my hands were tied

The name is Francis Nicolas Steiner
Just did a man
I Have the right to remain silent Never felt finer

I have the right to remain silent
I have the right to remain silent
No proof....
I have the right............
WE ALL KNOW WHO DID IT !!!

In reply to all your incoming
e-mails about :
" Who is Frank Steiner ??? "

...Frank N. Steiner is just a name that Gino Vannelli came up with to have a name that sounds something close to "Frankenstein".
The guy's name is Francis Nicholas Steiner, which would be Frank N. Steiner.
Sounds like "Frankenstein" if you say it fast. Guess the idea with Frank N. Steiner is like with Frankenstein, that he is a monster on the surface, but deep down inside, there is a normal person........
