An e-mail from Pat S. in the United States of America dated 18 June 2009 with the subject: Hello Friends!

E-mail 1:
Hello Friends!
Thanks for the emails & updates on Gino.
What a Doll he is.
I just wanted to know a little bit about Barend & Trees. Are you related to Gino or are you his Agent?

You do a terrific job of spreading the word of Gino & his many talents. Are there two of you? Well, I know you are busy but if you have time email me with some info about you. You are doing a terrific job. Thanks, Pat S

E-mail 2:
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for the email you sent me. What Angels you are. Gino is so very lucky to have such devoted fans. Your web site is terrific. All your hard work does not go unnoticed. It is a lot of fun to read and your back stage photos are a real treat. I'm sure Gino & his family know the value of your work for him.

No, we have never met each other. Maybe someday - soon I hope. I have been a Gino fan for a long time. I feel like I know him thanks to "you." All the personal touches like talking about his passion for music & all of his kindness efforts to show his appreciation for his fans. For example, he enjoys signing autographs & doesn't get upset if someone wants their picture taken with him. Without all your input no one would really get to know - the man! He seems so nice & sweet. That's unusual for entertainers.

Well, thanks for the personal info about the two of you. You seem so happy with each other & have been blessed with years of memories. God Bless & keep me on your Gino list. Keep up the terrific work!
Pat S

An e-mail from Norine R. in Winnipeg, Canada dated 20 May 2009 with the subject: I went to see Gino in Winnipeg at the McPhillips Street Station Casino on April 16, 2009.

Hi B & T,
It has been a while since I last wrote you and I would like to apologize for that.
I went to see Gino in Winnipeg at the McPhillips Street Station Casino on April 16, 2009 and I sat so close to the stage that I felt the vibes from Reinhardt’s drumming through my body. WOW! Gino sang the following:

Mama Cocoa
Appaloosa
Summers of My Life
Black Cars
Canto
Brother to Brother
A Good Thing
Powerful People
Hurts To Be In Love
Living Inside Myself
I Just Wanna Stop
And finally……..People Gotta Move.

After the concert, there was a table set up for pictures, autographs and buying CD’s. I have attached two pictures: one of me and Gino and one of Ross. I got to talk to Ross a bit, but the line was being pushed way too fast. I barely got to speak with Gino. I told him that I hope to see him again in concert and I thanked him for coming to Winnipeg. Gino signed 3 of my CD’s including my new addition of A Good Thing and I bought a T-shirt with the same name and he signed it as well. Gino didn’t remember me (which I didn’t expect him to), but I bumped into Allen Hinds and he remembered me from three years ago in Calgary. After, I went home in an elated state.

On another note, this t-shirt that I bought is not in my size (silly me) so I would like to offer it as an auction item on your next auction. What do I need to do to contribute to the auction? And another thing, what happened to Tunes on Tap? There doesn’t seem to be a link to it anymore.
I gotta go now. I hope to hear from you soon.
Your favorite Gino fan, Norine

1):

Hallo, mijn naam is Diana.
Mijn dank is zeer groot.
Vriendelijke groet diana

2):

English/English: Two e-mails which the editors received from 2 security women Inge and Diana they were responsible for the security of Gino Vannelli around Gino's concert in Deventer, Holland, the Netherlands on Friday 19 September 2008.

1):

Hello, my name is Diana.
My job was with the security of guard in Deventer. I was working at the Gino Vannelli concert in the church and I wanted to ask you permission for access to the pictures. I am on one of the pictures and I like to have that picture. I am very thankful to you.
Kind regards, Diana

2):

Hello Barend and Trees,
You do not know me.... And that's not necessary... haha...

Next: Last year in September 2008 I took a pride in my job to protect and secure Gino during his concert in Deventer. This was a very exciting day for me and it was also my very first time in my job that I had full responsibility. And I looked so forward to this day because Gino is my first "old" love in music. And everything came back to be after and during this evening... You will understand that of course. My next question is: Inside your site is a picture of me with Gino. It's not the most charming picture but it should be so nice if I could get this picture from you two.

In my case, it's 1 picture with a blond woman in uniform (me) who looks very strange to the sideway... (I still know that I had eyecontact with one of the fans and at the same time the flashlight went off and I thought aaarrrggghhhhhhh that will not be a charming picture... haha...) May I please receive this picture from you??
I love to hear from you!!
I wish you two the very best and who knows maybe we see eachother again!!
Kind regards, Inge

An e-mail from Doug Go in Tennessee, USA dated 28 April 2009 with the subject: From the cd-book links web page where you can find a link to order Gino Vannelli's A GOOD THING...

Hello Barend & Trees,
First of all, thanks for a great web site for the musical genius, Gino Vannelli.

I do have a question for you. I am in the US (Tennessee) and want to order the new cd A Good Thing and have found several links from your web pages. I think Amazon will probably work best for me.

My question is: if I order an import from Amazon (Grooves in Switzerland) is the CD in English and the liner notes and poetry book? I hope this is not too dumb a question. All the things I have seen on the web have been in English but maybe just because my pc displays them that way. Any advice you could give will be greatly appreciated.

I do have a humorous Gino story. Several years ago I was working in Atlanta, Georgia for a company that did a lot of shipping throughout the globe (AJC International, they have an office also in Maastricht).
Well, one day one of my co-workers asked me to sit in on a meeting with a rep from one of the steamship companies from Philadelphia. I forget his first name but his last name was Vannelli. So I said (like someone meeting a person named Sinatra might say jokingly: Oh, are you Frank’s brother), oh, you must be Gino’s brother he replied that he was not but that he was his cousin. I almost fell out of my chair.

Needless to say, the conversation turned from business and I wanted to know anything I could about Gino growing up. Anyhow, I still remember that.
Thanks for the great site.
Doug Go

Shall I tear into his skin
Let the beast inside me win
I'm so uncertain...... hahaha

Ik gaf antwoord toen hij vroeg hoe het ging maar ik lijk Vampirella wel hahaha

Van de week komen er meer hoor! Maar jullie willen de originelen dus dan duurt het verzenden wel een poosje. Nou groetjes weer, Donja.

English/Engels: An e-mail with an attached picture from Donja in Holland dated 1 April 2009 with the subject: Vampirella....

Hi Barend and Trees, what a quick service! Thank you so very much! Also from Carlos! So nice! Yes Trees, that was funny in Utrecht, I did not see you either. I heard from Wil that you were behind Gino and making pictures. Yes of course Gino is the most important! Yes, you can call Him a Brother, People who are no blood-relatives are very often a much better brother or sister than the real ones...... So, how do you feel about this picture......

Shall I tear into his skin
Let the beast inside me win
I'm so uncertain...... hahaha

I gave Him an answer when He asked me: "How are you doing?" but I look like Vampirella hahaha

More pictures will follow this week! But you want the originals so it will take some time to e-mail them. Well, greetings again, Donja.

An e-mail with 4 pictures from David Piqué in Dallas, Texas, USA dated 14 March 2009 with the subject: Gino Vannelli fans

Hey guys, my ancestry is French, Irish, English, German and Dutch. Guess u'd call that " heinz 57 ". I live in Dallas, Texas - USA.

I've seen Gino live 3-4 times here in the metro area from 1985 - 2000. I have all of his music + the contributions he has made 2 other artist as a vocalist, producer, etc., or at least I think I have. If the Jazz festival has a DVD of Gino's concert, I'd luv 2 purchase....

Hey guys, no artist can top Gino! I've followed his music from the beginning. I have enjoyed some of the EU jazz live concerts Gino has, tho they are not always NA compatible with NA equipment. They will play on PC/Macs, but not on traditional stereo/digital systems. In my opinion, as a musician, he is best suited for the earlier (jazz, pop, classical, rock) genre. From there I loved the world music - Canto. Still to this day I have that CD in my car player.
I like the new CD. I'm not a country fan nor do I envision Gino as a country artist, but think his country interpretation on 2-3 tracks are palatable.
Cool that u guys received "props" from Gino V on his CD notes.......
Here are pictures of the era I really enjoyed his music...:

An e-mail with 1 picture from Said M. in Mexico City, Mexico dated 23 November 2008 with the subject: Tour Mexico City 1991 Tshirt

Wanted to share the Tshirt I bought back in 1991 at Gino's concert here in Mexico City (Angela Peralta's Theater).

I made a promise to myself that I would keep it for the next time he came to Mexico. I went to Las Vegas concert last Nov 9th and he told me he's coming in April. The problem is that it doesn't fit anymore. But still, I will be wearing it for that day.

An e-mail with 4 pictures from Kara in Texas, USA dated 18 November 2008 with the subject: The Gist of the Gemini Gino Vannelli album/coasters

Hey guys--how are you? I hope you can see these pictures--if you can't, let me know. I'm having some old Gino albums that I can no longer play made into coasters. Isn't this cool? the album itself is warped into a bowl to hold the coasters. I'm also getting the back cover of the Pauper in Paradise album cut into 3 trivets. If you are interested in this, I'll send you the contact info for the person who makes them. The coasters are coated so you can put hot and cold items on them without worrying about the coasters being ruined. Knowing you, you've probably not only seen these but have some, but thought I'd share.

Also, I was able to view and listen to all the Gino interviews from Vegas--thanks SO much for making those available! We'd never know about them otherwise. I was so excited to hear Gino say he's putting out a book of poems with his next CD--that is AWESOME! I'm upset that the States don't get it for awhile though. I hope we can order them on line somewhere and not have to wait for months. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the new songs and poems. I truly believe you guys are the reason Gino still has as strong a career as he does because you guys keep the whole world informed on where he is--otherwise, we'd never know. Thanks so much for all your hard work. I just love checking in every day to see what's new. Have a great day!

Different e-mails from different Gino Vannelli fans from all over this Globe with different dates in 2008 and with different subjects!

Subject: GINO VANNELLI DVD
Barend & Trees,
do you have any idea if Gino is releasing any dvd in the future. keep up great site, i love it, dave.

Subject: gino vannelli at the orange lounge
How do I order the orange lounge tracks? I live in Ohio in the U.S. Stanley.

Subject: Question about Gino performing in churches in Holland
I have noticed in your slide shows that many times when Gino performs in Holland that he is performing in churches. I noticed in your recent Uropa slide show with the chefs that that concert was also in a church. Is this normal for churches in Holland to allow secular concerts to be held there? Is it because there is not a lot of concert halls in Holland so churches offer another option? In the US we do not usually rent our churches out for outside events like that so I was just wondering how that works in Holland. Kara.

Subject: QUESTION ABOUT GINOS CONCERT IN AMSTERDAM!!!!
Dearest Barend and Trees,
Hello, how do I find out if the show in Amsterdam is sold out yet??? B.B.M.

An e-mail from a Gino Vannelli fan in Texas, USA. dated 23 October 2008 with the subject: I framed all my Gino goodies...

Hi Barend & Trees,
On Saturday I framed all my Gino goodies and hung them on my wall...it looks so nice! I have 5 Gino things framed and it fills up this little section that needed a few smaller items. When I walk by and look at them I think of you guys and Gino with very nice thoughts...

I found my pictures from the 1979 Gino concert here in Texas and was going to have reprints made for you but they are so bad that I don't think they'll reprint very well. I'll ask at the camera store and see what they think--if they can be brightened up at all. Even on the 11th row, floor center, it was so dark with just a small instamatic. If I think they'll reprint well, I'll send you some for your archive.

Next time you see Gino will you stick a fork in him and poke him along in getting that new CD completed? January is so far away! :)

English/Engels: An e-mail from Donja in the Netherlands dated 4 August 2008 with the subject: Time for a few laughs...

Hi Barend and Trees,
Everything OK with you two? It's a pity that the weekend is over again...
Thank God that I have the tickets for the 14th of January 2009 in Tilburg! that's super great and fun to look forward to!!! Hopefully there is something Gino inbetween now and January 2009... But January will be here soon enough though... I have a colleague who wants to go with me to Gino if it's not too far away. She is not a suprfan yet but that will happen some day soon haha...

I promised you to show you the Gino Sistas Outfit with matched bag. So herewith the pictures. How funny that Mary's Daughter came up with this idea. It became a big hype! Carlos asked me if I am really going to wear this. And I told him yes of course especially when I go out with you hahaha... No of course not! Maybe when I go to see Gino with the Mary's somewhere somehow... Well this was my short message for now.
I wish you a good new week!
Greetings from Donja and Carlos

An e-mail from Maru in Mexico dated the Summer of 2008 with the subject: North Sea Jazz 2008 and more...

Hi my dear friends:
I'm so overwhelmed, experiencing opposite feelings. First of all, it's so sad to hear about what it happened to your website. After so many years of blood, sweat and tears, for all the huge work you've been doing to let us share stories, knowing Gino's history, concerts, pictures, making good friends. I'm so sorry! I offer you my humble help in case is useful for you.

In the other hand, I have to confess I can't stop checking periodically youtube, to watch if there's something new about the latest concerts and what I've just found, left me breathless. The version he performed on North Sea Jazz Festival drove me to tears of emotion and made me shake. That new rhythm and the new harmonies and that voice, took me right to heaven. And the extraordinary musicians as always. There's a very bad sound quality video of Italy, unfortunatelly I couldn't catch much, but what I could listen, sounds absolutelly delicious. I pray for a new DVD of recent performances, with the new 5.1 technollogy to enjoy until the bones, of the wonderful music and voice of this ARTIST whose songs I love from the bottom of my heart. I'm tasting the sweet flavor of what the new CD is going to give us. I hope next weekend I'll have the time to seat and read, calmly, all the comments and watch the pictures of Montreal and North Sea, while drinking a cold glass of sparkling white wine, listening to THESE ARE THE DAYS.

Please I beg you, if there's a TV special with any song of Gino at North Sea Jazz Festival, I'd die to have a copy!!! A big hug from a happy heart, beating with the new version of Wild Horses and a nostalgic heart for what has lost.
All my love dear friends.

So Very nice of you to get in touch with me. I absolutely love your website. And yes, I was finally able to purchase the Orange Lounge sessions and for only $5.00 with the Canadian exchange!! I loved the AMAZING renditions of the old songs. He's so amazing, isn't he?

Yes I will definitely keep in touch and one of these days I will take some pix of all my Gino memorabilia.

Also, I didn't see it mentioned on your site but noticed that Gino produced a Randy Cannon CD? By the way, I will be in Amsterdam sometime in November. Are you close? Would love to meet and say Hi. Until then, take care and thank you so much for an incredible site! All the best, Michael

Such a huge Gino Vannelli fan here.
One thing I wanted to point out though, that the songs from The Orange Lounge Sessions are not available to anyone outside of Canada. I tried ordering them but I couldn't and when I contacted them personally they said they could not be purchased outside of Canada.

We you able to purchase them??? And if so, let me know how.

Thank you so much and thanks for all the Gino updates. One of these days I'll take some pix of the memorabilia I have of Gino and send them to you, i.e. about 5 different t-shirts from the original Brother to Brother tour including a long sleeve one, photos and newletters from the original fan club, signed 45's, albums from all over the world, etc. I met him once at a VIP party at the Supper Club in NYC after a concert and was elated.

Thanks again and please let me know about the Orange Lounge Sessions. All the best, Michael

Hope all is well there. I wanted to share this email with you. Mike S. is a prominent DJ on a popular radio station here, who is a big Gino fan. In fact, on his website, he has a picture with Gino from when he visited the station back in the 70's. I kinda figured I would try to get him to promote Gino again, and here is his reponse.

Gino

Hello again...
Any news as to when Gino will be back in Vegas?
I am always amazed when I log on to your website that there are so many Gino fans.
Have you seen the Gino Vannelli fan club "my space" page?
I can send you the link if you haven't seen it. It is nowhere near the quality of your website, but it does get Gino's name out there.

As always, thanks so much for the communication! I am turning "50" this December and would love to see Gino in person again. I wish I had millions of dollars so I could fly you out along with other Gino fans and have one big party! How fun would that be for everyone to meet each other as well as to be able to sit and chat with Gino?? So much for my dreams............ Anyways, have a great weekend! Cheryl

GINO VANNELLI

Dear Barend & Trees -
My wife and I just finished watching the DVD concert of Gino "Live In Montreal", and we actually had a "storm on an Oklahoma sunset" while we were watching. How cool is that? Makes me want to now pop in Storm at Sunup.

Then we went to all the e-mails from the Las Vegas concert shows, which we attended on Gino's last night. We really enjoyed seeing so many fans respond to Gino and his band mates for such an excellent show.

Our hope is that at some point, a concert from this tour will make it to our living rooms, so we can still relive the magic of the music, his band and their great musicianship, and the passion and talent that comes from such a great performer.

Gino Vannelli, thanks for memories that will last forever!!! And Barend & Trees, thanks for your web site and the work you do for all of us! Your Oklahoma Friends,
Jan & Jarrette M. Oklahoma City, OK

P.S. Now I need to go online and order the Brother to Brother Tour DVD.

Hi Barend & Tress;
How are you? I can see you have been busy with the website. It looks great, you do such a great job!

Will you be seeing Gino this Saturday? Please tell him that his fans here in Orange County, California miss him! Enjoy!

I would love to be able to sit and talk with him. My dream for my 50th birthday has always been for him to be there. How funny...especially since he doesn't even know I exist except as a fan! I look at your site almost every day and again my thanks for making the world aware of how incredible Gino is. Take care, Cheryl

An e-mail from Mary Lou in the USA dated 29 May 2007 with the subject: GINO

Dearest Barend & Trees,
Thanks for the latest updates.
On this Memorial Day 2007 I was very touched by the story of Gino singing None So Beautiful at the service of one of our fallen heroes.

Everyday here in the USA we hear of soldiers who have given their life for our country. No matter how you feel about the war, we are all in support of our military. They are brave young men and women who risk their life for our freedom. I have always felt this song was filled with very profound words and feeling. I am sure the family and friends of the fallen soldier felt comfort and love for their beloved when they heard this special song at the service.

I hope the shows in Las Vegas were well attended and received this weekend. Since I was unable to go this past weekend I have been anxiously checking everyday to see how everything went for Gino and the Band. I did read the interview and noticed the upcoming dates listed for July 19-21. On the Flamingo website this is not listed as an upcoming show. If this is a go for that weekend I hope to be able to attend those shows. All of Gino's fans on the East Coast would prefer a few dates in Atlantic City this summer. We need to mention this to DJ and see what he can do for a few nights at the casinos in AC.

Take care and thanks for all the special work you put into your website.
TTYL. Mary Lou

An e-mail from a patient in a hospital in the USA dated 10 June 2007 with the subject: Good Story - When You "Get Time!!!!!"

Hi Barend & Trees
First, I hope you both are hanging in there! Haha!! It's sooooooo exciting waiting for the pictures and stories to post!!!

I mentioned earlier about my Dad having prostate cancer - but that he's doing ok!
In the meantime, his back has been bothering him, trouble walking, etc. So my Dad goes for another MRI scan last week. I get the cd and the paper summary of the test results and of course I have to read it all myself. Besides the orthopedic problems it says he has metastatic bone cancer in his back and they recommend a total body scan. Now his family doctor who reads this doesn't call us or say anything. For FIVE days I'm leaving messages, finally the nurse calls and tells me I can schedule the scan IF I WANT TO!!!!!!!!!!!!! FREAKING AS----!!!! But that's not the point here.

So, I decided to just call my doctor! He calls me back right away and tells me to bring him in as soon as I can. It's his DAY OFF but he will come in to the office anyway to see my Dad!!!!!!!!!! So, now I have to call and break this news over the phone because I'm at work! My son meets me and we get him and take him to the cancer center. He examined my Dad and took the scan to another building and had the "bone experts" look at it! He said it might not be as bad as the radiologist read. He still needs the scan though and we'll go from there. Ok, I'm getting to the point!!!!!!!!!! Then he listened to my lungs, heart, etc., how I've been feeling? - what's Gino been up to? My Dad almost fell off his chair laughing!!! Hahaha!!! Then says, "she knows what she's talking about, you should listen." My Dad said, "to HER," and the doctor said, "noooooooooooo, not to HER, to Gino!!!"

I don't get no respect!
yes, three doctors now who ask me how gino is doing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An e-mail from Anne in Oklahoma City, USA dated 1 May 2007 with the subject: Gino songs

Hi Barend & Trees
I’m so glad you guys have set up this website for Gino Vannelli and his music. I love reading all the emails from Gino’s fans around the world, as well as staying informed on his latest concert dates & album releases.

I have one question: Does anyone know what the influence/inspiration was on Gino behind the song, “Appaloosa”? I’ve always wanted to know what the story was behind that composition. As for myself, I’ve been in love with Gino and his music since I was 16 years old. What a great influence his music has been on my life. Now that I’m 47, I’m thankful that Gino is still making his wonderful music. I take a lot of comfort in listening to Gino and I feel like I’m not going through this mid-life crisis by myself. It’s a fact that true love never dies. All the best, Anne, Oklahoma City

You can e-mail when you know the answer to the “Appaloosa” Question of Anne.

Come To The Well lyrics

Come to the well she said
Come eat my bread
Come drink the water of life
Enter my valley deep
Let the angels weep
Rejoice and touch the good earth tonight
And there was gingham and silk
Sage, honey and milk
Sweetmeats, spirits and wine
She bathed us in sweet balms of rose
Lit candles of clove
And lay her glisting body on mine
We stayed locked in love
In leaves of green and gold
She touched, I trembled, we kissed
I poured the contents of my aching heart and soul
Soon she woke up with the sun
Filled with seeds of worlds to come
Come to the well she said
Come and eat my bread
Come and drink the water of life

A Gino Vannelli short story.

Hello, Barend and Trees!!!
It's been awhile since you've heard from us, but we are still here, in Baltimore, MD., USA, and we are still huge Gino fanatics!!

I wanted to include a new picture of one of Gino's youngest fans, - my daughter Alicia. She is five years old now, and still loves Gino!

She orders me to plug in my MP3 player in the van and turn it way up, so she can sing along with him. It's so funny to hear her trying to sing in Italian to "Canto". She's getting better at it, though and soon, she'll be matching Gino word for word!

We’re still hoping that Gino will play somewhere close to us on the Eastern Seaboard! C'mon, Gino! We love you!!!

(You have my permission to post this message & picture in your site - just not my company name. Thanks!) Sally Drayer.

An e-mail from Isabel in Holland, Europe dated 7 March 2007
with the subject : Why do we love a certain kind of music?

Engels/English: Hi Barend and Trees,
Another e-mail for you two and than I will stop to "spammmmm" you
Today I was thinking, what is it? Or why are people fan of an artist and in this case fan of Gino? Across the whole world people love music. I started thinking and came up with this. Please read my thoughts and see if you can agree with my thoughts.
Gr. Isabel

Why do we love a certain kind of music?
Often music is the mirror of the soul.
It tells you with words and melodies your moods and your feelings.
That's why we have the possibility to bond with music.
Not only audiovisual but also with our hearts and memories, because music brings up and recalls very often beautiful feelings and emotions. And the one who is able to bring up and recall such emotions with people is also able to open the mirror of our souls.
That's a "soulmate."

That's why we are fans of somebody, the one who is our "soulmate" and knows the art to turn feelings and emotions into music, melodies and lyrics which touches us deep inside our hearts and souls...

There are only a few people who can do that and that's why we admire and adore them. They have the talents, instincts and possibilities to turn our emotions into music and through this music we know how to find eachother again.

Our Soulmate is Gino Vannelli and He knows the art like no other to bring up and recall wonderful emotions and happy memories and moments...

The editors B&T: Yes Isabel, we agree with your thoughts and we have to say that Gino Vannelli also communicates through His music and lyrics from His heart and soul and we are sure that the emotions which He feels are intense too so it works the other way around too... We hope we make sense... We really mean that this is a 2-way thing...

Oh yes, one more thing Husbands and Wifes have to be eachother's soulmates first (Very important!) and than the artist they love comes second... We think we go over the top now.... We can do that because we are shameless!!! But music can make people's lives richer and more enjoyable and people need somebody to look up to, like some kind of a God or religion. Especially people like us who are non-musicians and know nothing about music except to enjoy it and we need music to relax in this CRAZY LIFE!!! Feel the need to say something??? Write it down and e-mail...

Thanks dear friends for your support!!!

P.S. Have an idea that goes round and round on my mind...recently the municipality of Rome has granted Robert De Niro the italian citizenship because of his commitment and his importance for the Italian-American communities in the world...don't you think the major of Campobasso, Italy should donate Gino the keys of the city and bestow him the honorary citizenship??? Seems hilarious but this would be a priceless reward for Gino and his family who left Italy last century in search of a better tomorrow.... Marco

An e-mail from Sam and Carole T. from Rochester in the State of New York in the USA dated 11 January 2007 with the subject : Gino Vannelli

Thanks for the quick response and info, I applaud Barend and Trees for their dedication to Gino, his music and his fans. My wife and I have seen Gino in concert many times over the years dating back to the late seventies, and have traveled to see him as he has never made it to Rochester NY where we live. We have also met with him on 3 different occasions (also his brother Joe, once) after his concerts and he remembered us much to our surprise the last time that we seen him, we also have some great pictures with him.

I made him 2 different key chains, (Gino told me that he still has them). One with the Inconsolable Man symbol and the other with his initials that my wife was able to hand to him while he was performing between songs on stage
(2 different times a couple years apart).

I applaud Gino for never selling out to the music industry and doing it his way. I am sure that he has had many roadblocks during his career because of this but has managed to go on. His music falls into many categories as with some professional musicians, but with Gino it is very deep, as he calls it his soul searching years going from one extreme to another, all with the same end result, GREAT MUSIC. I personally like his top 40's style hits but also extremely enjoy all of his other cuts as they journey deep into the many journeys of life. I am sure that Gino is proud and grateful knowing that Barend and Trees have truly represented him the way you have over the years, keep up the great work.

GINO IS THE BEST!!!!!!

Again a few words by the editors B&T dated 21 December 2006, subject : Gino Vannelli's :
"A Rose In December"

A bright young child went to school with happy dreams because of the upcoming Sinterklaas day on 5 December........ Sinterklaas, a dream for every child... A dream of many presents...

The deepest fear this beautiful child must have lived through in the last minutes of His life is just beyond incredible......... This touched us so deep that we played Gino Vannelli's: "A ROSE IN DECEMBER" all day long...... To let our tears, real tears flow and to feel the honest emotions, we also e-mailed all Radio and TV stations like we already wrote in short story number 182. Just one had the guts and the decency to give us a reply... The NCRV classical music radio program : AMOROSO.

B&T: Here is our first e-mail: We tried to translate into the English language as good as possible. We can put more emotions in our Dutch e-mails but that's our own langugage of course...
Dear Radio and TV people, we kindly ask you to play the following music: "A ROSE IN DECEMBER" by Gino Vannelli in memory of Jesse on the day of His funeral 7 December 2006. "A ROSE IN DECEMBER" is a duet of GINO VANNELLI and Monserrat Caballé, this very emotional song is recorded on the cd called: "Friends For Life" of Monserrat Caballé from 1997. We can e-mail you a MP3 if you need one... This song and this music created by GINO VANNELLI brings out the right emotions inside people which are appropiate on this deep dark and full of despair day... You can read the lyrics overhere... Thanks in advance, Barend and Trees.

NCRV RADIO: And here is the reply of the NCRV radio station:
I love to give you satisfaction and play your song in our radio program: "Amoroso" every working day from 11 - 12pm on Radio 4, but we have to play classical music in this program. My feelings say that this is "light" music. Is that right??? Herma Bosma, NCRV Radio 4

B&T: Here is our second e-mail:
Dear Herma Bosma, thank you so very much for your reply, highly appreciated. Montserat Caballé is a classical opera singer from Barcelona. We try to e-mail you a MP3 of "A ROSE IN DECEMBER" as an attachment. So you can listen and judge yourself, you are the expert. We are not sure if this e-mail reaches you but we appreciate your reaction very much. Kind regards, Barend and Trees.

NCRV RADIO: And here is the second reply of the NCRV radio station:
I could play your MP3 loud and clear on my computer. Yes, of course I know that Montserrat Cabbalé is a classical opera singer but this duet - HOW BEAUTIFUL of itself - is really in the department of "light" music. the radio stations made the deal that this kind of music will not be played or programmed on Radio 4. Classical music does not have to be "heavy" though. Very good act on your own initiative. I will sent your e-mail it to all my colleagues who are the music-program directors of Radio 2. Regards, Herma Bosma, NCRV Radio 4

A few words of explanation by the editors B&T dated 19 December 2006, subject : Gino Vannelli's :
"A Rose In December"

In message number 181 Vincent and us talked about the murder of a very small boy of 8 years old at his school during the day of 1 December 2006. Holland was so shocked and we too of course... We saw and heard all the news about this horrible murder in which a very cute boy was killed in his early years..... He went to school and never came home again... We listened to Gino Vannelli's: "A ROSE IN DECEMBER" and were very emotional... We decided to e-mail all the major radio stations and tv stations that they had to play "A ROSE IN DECEMBER" on the day of the boy's funeral. It was just a flash of intuition and a kind of therapy to write off our anger and to get our minds at ease again because we kept on thinking about the deep fear that this young boy must have felt in the last minutes of his life... This world is so horrible and so unfair! And full with evil people! Read the lyrics overhere... And when you want to hear this very beautiful song by GINO VANNELLI please e-mail us...

Click here to listen to a soundclip of A ROSE IN DECEMBER...

why one so yound and tender..."

English/Engels: A second e-mail from Vincent V. in Al Rustamiyah, Baghdad, Iraq dated 6 and 7 December 2006 with the subject : greetings from a loyal Gino Vannelli fan in the Middle-East!

Hello Barend and Trees,
Of course It's absolutely no problem to translate my e-mails to the English language and publish them on the world wide web. Yes I heard and read about the killing of this young boy in Hoogerheide. And I cannot understand this cowardice murder and my brains cannot process this, why should somebody do this... This person is really sick in the brains and totally mentally disordered. What if this happens to your own son??? Gino's "A Rose In December" is very appropiate and like all Gino's productions I have this one too of course.

Fantastic to read that Gino gives live concerts again in the Netherlands. Dianne and me will be there of course. We will do almost everything to go to a Gino Vannelli live concert. For sure that I am back in Holland again in April 2007. Overhere in Baghdad everything goes well with me personally but NOT with this country. I understand from the messages that Iraq/Baghdad is in your news all the time in Holland and it's a pity that it's all bad news all the time. People keep on killing eachother, everyday... There is no solution in the near future, nobody can see any solutions... I stay here till March 2007 and I hope to go back to my Wife and Children in a safe way.

Thanks for your personal reply because I know that you are very busy. Please give my regards to Gino (If that's possible) and somebody in Iraq/Baghdad listen to His music everyday! Greetings from Al Rustamiyah, Baghdad. Vincent

Groetjes vanuit Al Rustamiyah, Baghdad. Vincent

Dear Barend and Trees,
How are you? I hope everything is OK with you in Holland, the Netherlands. It's already a while that we e-mailed with eachother. From the Capital of Iraq, Baghdad, I listen to Gino's songs every day. My job out here makes me see a lot of sorrow, pain and despair. A country torn by war on the way to democraty, only the sad thing is that there are on a daily basis many deaths and wounded people. And than it's always good to end the day with Gino Vannelli songs... By the way I read in the messages inside your web site that Gino lives in the NETHERLANDS at the moment??? Does He maybe give a secret concert voor His most loyal fans in the near future??? Soon I will be back in the Netherlands for a short while so that would be fantastic for sure... For the time being it will be a dream to see Him live on stage again in the Netherlands. I have such wonderful memories of the Oosterpoort in Groningen and I still think about this event everyday with pleasure! From Baghdad the best kind regards from a loyal Gino Vannelli-Fan, Vincent.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for writing...
My co-billed concert with Gino Vanelli was held August 3rd, 1975 at The Confederation Centre of the Arts in my old hometown of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. I was a young local singer/songwriter who was just starting to get national attention as a songwriter and Gino was a new major label artist just beginning to gain a name for himself with a few hits. Believe it or not, I was placed on the show to ensure we had an audience as nobody in our town knew who Gino Vanelli was in those days, but everybody knew me at that point from my early singing group The Troubadors who played at the Centre frequently and from some radio hits of my own. My manager at the time, Jack McAndrew, was also the executive director of the Confederation Centre so he was responsible for bringing acts in to the Centre for Sunday Night Music concerts and indeed it was Jack's idea to bring then little known Gino Vanelli to the Sunday Night Concert series and have me there to generate interest. If you only knew how completely ridiculous that last statement sounds to me now...then again....just about everybody I ever knew or worked with has gone on to international superstardom and I'm here telling the story. Life is cruel Terry...I coulda been a contender...oh well...least I went the distance just like Rocky...[yo Adrian]

But back to Gino and me... The night of the show I got to The Centre early and was just hanging out in my dressing room waiting to go on when a knock came at my door...I opened it up and found Gino Vanelli standing there with his hand outstretched and introducing himself and wanting to just come in and maybe hang out with me for awhile...very cool I thought so hey...come on in man...remember Terry...I was just 21 and Gino was 22...we were both young guys making some noise in the music business and had an instant mutual respect for one another for sure, but what neither of us could have guessed was how much alike we were and that we liked each other as people...Gino was genuine and humble to a fault...I couldn't believe how down to earth he was....in those days especially it was quite easy to be a bigheaded ego tripper and of course he had natural charisma and looks going too, but he was just great to talk with...anyway, at one point he asked me how many people might be in the audience that ni ght. I told him honestly that based on my name recognition we might get a couple of hundred and the curious few checking him out, but probably not many more than maybe 300 in a 1000 seat theatre...I told him not to take it personally as Charlottetown was fickle and tended to only pay to see Well Know Name shows at the Centre...he was a bit disappointed but willing to give it his best...we agreed that no matter what we'd get together after the show for Chinese food at the famous Canton Cafe just around the corner...my impression of Gino as a guy was that he was the best...a true person who I knew would be a real friend of mine if we got to know each other..great guy. On stage, I couldn't see past the spotlight and the first few rows but it turns out we did have a sold out packed house...I'm glad I didn't know that until afterwards or I might have been nervous...but my closer was the only non original song I did that night...it was I Got A Name which was a hit record for Jim Croce although it was written by Norman Gimble and Charles Fox who wrote the Happy Days theme and Killing Me Softly [Roberta Flack]. After intermission I sat in the only available seat in the very back of the theater and caught Gino's show...it blew me away...remember in those days it was highly unusual to see a band perform with no lead guitarist..!!..it was very strange to our collective experience to hear "pop/rock" music without an Eric Clapton figure in the band. But Joe and Gino were doing their own thing and it sounded great to my ears especially since Graham Lear was playing drums...he was the young kid who played fantastic drums with Carlos Santana at Woodstock. It was amazing stuff...now mind you, a certain portion of the audience was not ready for such a twist and some were even uncomfortable with Gino's raw sexual magnetism...I noticed no girls left, but several people did get up and leave including a group of Catholic nuns who were frankly there only to see me anyway as I had a very devout fan base including many religious folks who were aware of me at the time, but it did look funny to see a whole row of nuns get up and leave together at the the first strains of People Gotta Move...guess they just had to move.

The spooky thing about Gino's closer was that he also ended with a Jim Croce song although I can't remember now which one...Croce had just been tragically killed in a plane crash around that time and so I guess it was not that unusual to tribute his memory, but Gino's music and mine are so different, yet somehow that night our bond and purposes seemed to meld together in common cause with our respective differences merely highlighting a fuller panorama of expression and musical appreciations...ah, it was great just being there, but a great show too. In fact, I remember it being one of my more engaged and animated performances of those years, so that only adds to the memory as I take warmth from knowing I did an all out performance that night as did Gino as well.

Writing this Terry, I realize it's the first time I've done so other than in my Gallery blurb, so this has been very enjoyable for me in the reliving of the experience...thanks for prompting that and I'm only too happy to share it with you out of respect for your appreciations and out of respect for Gino Vanelli who I can only hope to meet again someday if we have an opportunity...it would be so cool to hang out and talk with him today...maybe we'd even get some Chinese food and regale each other with our war stories of the past 30 years or so...heh, heh... Anyway, Terry...thanks so much again for writing and for helping me relive a great memory of a truly great artist and a great guy...thanks too for your interest in my work although it is very different in its scope from Gino's, but I hope you might like some of it and have an appreciation for my world of experience in a very different format. God Bless and good luck with your further outreaches...

Well done in keeping a great web page going strongly!
I love Gino Vannelli’s music.
Living in Sydney, Australia, I take it there is no chance he would ever tour Australia. He would love this country. It is exceptionally beautiful and the people are very friendly and open. All the best, Ian Alter

Hello from Mexico!!
Thank you very much for your message, your email put a big smile on my face, for your really kind words!! Im glad that you will publish my concert tickets, I would love to see them on your great web page.

I am a big fan of Gino Vannelli’s music, I love all his recordings, from Crazy Life to Canto…I haven’t heard Theses days yet. I think he should get more recognition than the one he gets, I really think that all the time. He deserves it, as you said…. He is the master of music!

When he came to Mexico in 1991, he did several performances and I was very lucky to see him and I would love to see him again in concert, but I don’t know if that is going to happen again. Thanks again and best wishes to you and your family from Mexico!!

A Gino Vannelli article in the Untrue North, section Entertainment, Nov. 1 - Nov. 7 Vol. 1, Issue 14. The Untrue North is a weekly publication, with new issues appearing each Monday.

Gino Vannelli changes song lyric following mishap Submitted by Jamie Dew

Five time Juno award winning artist Gino Vannelli has altered the lyrics to his hit song "Wild Horses" after being dragged nearly six miles by a pack of the equine mammals late last week.

Vannelli made the announcement at a press conference held inside room 412 at St. Josephs Hospital early Sunday morning. The self proclaimed "modern master of intimacy and romance" looked shaken as he read from a prepared statement.

"From this moment on the lyric in my song Wild Horses will read: wild horses should not drag me away from you,"
he said.

When asked if the incident was a stunt designed to raise his public profile again, Vannelli denied the charge vociferously.

"I eat and piss from tubes! I have hoof prints up and down my spine! Does this look like a publicity stunt to you?" he grimaced as he reached for the button to summon the nurse.

After a few milligrams of morphine a more docile Vannelli emerged from behind a white curtain that surrounded his bed.

"I really feel silly for singing that I could have resisted such strength," lamented the heavily bandaged rocker. "Hello - it's called horse power for a reason; I mean what was I thinking?"

Although this is not the first time a recording artist has altered his/her lyrics, this does mark the first occasion a lyric has been changed based on new information being presented to the artist.

"What we have here is a matter of fact edging out a matter of opinion," a freshly cathetered Vannelli noted. "I am no longer content to sit here and tell you that something is impossible when the bruises on my body clearly suggest otherwise. I will stand with conviction, however, by my observation that Black Cars look better in the shade,"
finished Vannelli.

George Ed, a spokesperson for the Association of Horses had this to say on the matter, "We realize how hard this is on the family of Mr. Vannelli, but please try to understand that Chum FM has played that song nearly twice a day for almost twenty years. It's almost as though he was taunting us."

When pressed about the similar lyrics contained within a Rolling Stones classic, Mr. Ed commented, "Mark my words, if we can find a way across the ocean, Mick Jagger is a dead-man!"

Would you please post the next 100 emails on your website?
Only please don't post them in July! I'll email you and tell you when you can post them! I'm a long time fan from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States of America. Coincidentally, I've changed my name too!!! I am now going by the name of Patty Vannelli! I am in the process of having my name legally changed. After that I plan to disown my children, legally of course! Then I plan to divorce my husband. He should be receiving the papers soon. I'm not one to do anything "half-arse" as they say! So I've decided to make it "official." This is where I need your HELP!!! Once I set a date and pick out a dress, would you pleeeeeeeeeeease break the news to GINO for me!!!! Dear Gino,
I was pleased to see that your performance went well in Calgary, and that we were all fortunate enough to be able to see photographs of you. I would also like to mention how much I enjoyed listening to your new songs in the Orange Lounge, as much as I enjoyed listening to your former compositions in 1989. I listened to your songs for the first time in 1989 at a party, after one of my performances many years ago, and was overjoyed to see you sing live for the first time in the Orange Lounge a few weeks ago. Please take real good care of yourself Gino - and all the best. Regards Coral (Solo vocalist currently based in the united kingdom)

Hello everyone,
Thankyou very much for posting my email on the Barend and Trees website, it was an unexpected surprise. However, would you be kind enough not to post any further emails sent to you in July, as I mentioned a change of name - information I would prefer to withold from inquisitive people on a popular global website.

I was overwhelmed to find your unique website in Holland - and have spent hours looking at all the information that you have generously put together on this superb website.

I would like to add that Gino Vannelli composed some of my favourite songs, songs that will remain with me for the rest of my life. I hope that he receives all the admiration, support and only the "Best reviews and excellent comments on your Barend and Trees website." Take care and thankyou.
Best wishes always, Miss Marita Daina Indans (Coral Vannelli - Vocalist name)

A word from the Editors: We think number 164 and number 159 is also from the same person as number 166, we really do not understand these e-mails and all the name changing. And we did not do nothing with the text only copied and pasted the words, because this person gave permission to print her words on our Gino Vannelli web site. This person writes to Gino so we are not going to give comments we only want to make clear that we do not understand nothing of these words...... Hello les amis,
I ve only one complain since 1999 it s a long time without a Gino's show in France, i know that his privacy life is very important to him but it will be great to see him again in some european venues, his fans are always waiting his stage comeback feverishly.

One more do you know the famous french artist Michel Polnareff very famous in the sixties and seventies he will do a tremendous come back on stage in bercy venue (17000 seats and standing room) in Paris for some 12 or more show next March 2007. I tell you this information because his last album who was a live album was recorded at Roxy in Los Angeles in 1995 with the drummer Enzo Todesco. Do you remember him? Have a hot and shiny day in Rotterdam. Jacques

Hello Gino,
I'm really looking forward to seeing the photographs of you at all your future concerts - and have enjoyed looking at your websites, website links and other information pertaining to your work.

I was introduced to your music in 1989, during a summer season as a resident vocalist in the "Showbar" at www.havenholidays.com/parks/devoncornwallsomerset/devoncliffs. When after one of the shows, the band and I had more than a few drinks and listened to your lovely music all night long at a great party.

I'm a vocalist (44) with a lively modern repertoire of 3 x 45 minute sets, and will make my own lively non-mainstream album within the next few years for personal reasons, with the assistance of an independent record label. I mentioned Interior Design in my previous email to you, and that in the future it will take precedence over everything in my life.

Gino, I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow and that you enjoy your evening performance. Best wishes always, Coral Vannelli (Vox)

* * * PEOPLE WHO MAKE COPIES OR DOWNLOAD MUSIC FOR FREE ARE THIEVES JUST ORDINARY THIEVES AND HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE HARD LABOUR OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING AND REMEMBER ARTISTS ARE HUMAN BEINGS TOO * * *

You may think this as "true" but I must tell you, I have shared my Gino in the past (small vid clips and old classics) to introduce him as not a "has-been" forgotten after Black Cars came out. I have had many, many people ask about more of his music because of this. I, for one, can not get through a rough day without chilling to Gino with earplugs in. I, for one, am very proud to be able to share his music with my children (unlike most music) ranging in age of 25 through 10.

I, for one, am proud to say I am a "fan" since 1976 when I picked up an LP submitted to the FM radio station in Alaska where I was the youngest at age 14 and the first female in Alaska on the first FM station to play anything Gino had ever put out. Since the format was "open", I played him a lot and not just the hits from charts. I, for one, am very pleased to have followed his career and been touched deeply by his lyrics. I, for one, have "seen" his life changes, impacts, despairs, joy and sorrows that parrellel my own to such extents that I could swear he vocalizes my mind. All since 1976, when I first picked up an LP of many in stacks.

I recently had a housefire, consuming my collection, including radio copies unavailable to public. As my heart breaks I am thankful I can replace and upgrade what was lost. I do wish for you all and Gino himself to know that I married, 12 years now, a closs look-a-like, heart-a-like and my youngest daughter (also a HUGE Gino fan) is looking at boys that are very simular. One touch, one song, one life.......... you touch so many. Please come back to the states that I might have the incredible experience to go to my first "concert" with my child. Maria

Reactions from people, Gino Vannelli fans and other Human beings on the short story of number 158...

(1) : Email from Kara Meier in the USA dated 15 June 2006 :

I just read this story and it is truly bizarre.
I don't understand what his gripe is--that he had to hear Gino sing a song TWICE? It's still Gino! I'd pay good money to just hear ONE song live! Considering how rare Gino gets to be heard in the States, you'd think this guy would be thrilled just to hear anything. My feeling is once a Gino fan, always a Gino fan. There was no reason for his petty email. Maybe he just wanted to get a reaction from you…sounds pretty immature. Kara Meier

I cannot believe my eyes and my brains do not understand this crazy e-mail by this Dennis guy. Is this written in our language?????????? It's no musical language for sure, it's more a mad fan e-mail who could not get the attention of Gino?????? For me Gino can sing the same song 200 times and I will be happy because every tune and musical note by Gino is Quality, Vannelli Quality as Barend and Trees always write...

(3) : E-mail from Tom R. in the USA dated 27 June 2006 :

think my wife and I were at the same concert as Dennis was and may I put my perspective on Dennis's comments. I live in the Chicago area and traveled to the Detroit area just to see Gino. The night was perfect and sound with the string section was just mind blowing. During the concert Gino did People Gotta Move with the string section doing somewhat of a solo and this was right up there as one of the best live songs i ever heard Gino do. After the song Gino and his band received a standing ovation. My idea was Gino was so happy on how people enjoyed that song so he decided to do it one more time as his encore. Thanks for listening to my thoughts. tom

An e-mail from Laetitia in England, U.K. dated 27 May with the subject : Message from Laetitia Tancredi, London

Dear Barend and Trees,
It goes without saying that if I am writing to you means I am very fond of Gino Vannelli’s music!

First of all I would like to thank you for all the precious information on the site and for all the time and energy you genuinely invest in keeping this information up to date. Fantastic!

Let’s start by the beginning, I read few chapters on the site in which you mentioned listening to Gino’s tapes while driving on holiday to France! I wish to share my “story” with you! I believe far back when I was a kid, the first GV’s track I ever heard was “I just wanna stop”. Do not remember how old was maybe 8/10 years old. At the time I was listening to Cerrone (track “Love in C Minor”), Patrick Juvet (track “I love America”), Bee Gees, EWF. Listening to that kind of music stays in you forever; cannot listen to crap music afterwards! All my teenage years, I keep listening to the same track again and again since that was the only track that was played at that time on the radio and that’s the only track I knew and recorded! (You may laugh reading this: I recorded the track with a microphone in front of the radio and the sound was awful!). So that’s the only track I knew until a few years ago until me and my “buddy” David were going record hunting in London back in 1998. Yes I wrote records! David’s life is music and music means vinyl! Looking through records I see “Gino Vannelli – “Brother to Brother” album and say to David “maybe the track I like is on it”. I thought at that time that the track’s name was “For your love”!

A few weeks later, we found “Powerful People” and “Storm sunup”. We always listen to Gino Vannelli and other musicians/singer on vinyl. We do not wish to appear “arty” but anyone appreciating music will tell you the same thing! We always say to ourselves “Blimey, bet GV would like to hear his music played here. For amateurs: the records are played on Linn turntable/Speakers: front horns Lowther accompanied by a pair of Jensen on the bass). Whenever we are to start playing a GV record, I always say “how many people are right now playing a GV record?” David’s answer: “More than YOU think”! Yes more than I think and it’s fantastic. Glad that GV’s music is listened to. I do not wish to talk about his music or worse “intellectualize” it; his music is to be played & listened. GV wrote & composed it and when you play it it’s happening here, right in front of you.

A month ago, I discovered your site. Do not know how it came up, I had the idea of typing “Gino Vannelli” in google! I was happy to see that GV is a world wide phenomenon and his music played everywhere.

On a “record hunting” session the other day, I found a copy of “Crazy Life”, not in the original pocket but in mint condition. I made the guy at the record fair unpacked all his bags since it was at the end of the day! Bless him! Got another copy of “Brother to Brother” as well while I was at it! I still do not know what the album “Crazy Life” is like since the turntable/speakers are in France and I am currently in London. Cannot wait to go back home now!

In terms of favourite tracks, difficult to chose…. I believe I go “in circle”, as well it depends what has been played the night before. For the moment I am on “Gist of Gemini” and like very much “Omens of Love”/”Flying into this night”. I can play forever “Storm sun up” “I’ve got a babe of my own”. I like the “old tunes”, we all do don’t we?!

Here’s the humble summary relating to my “shameless devotion to Gino Vannelli”. B&T, my only question to you will be: any concert dates so far for the European Tour? I read on your website that you require from time to time translation work to be done form English into French. I’ll be more than happy to help since I am French native and a professional Translator/Interpreter. I also work from German/Italian into French. Any mails can be forwarded to this email address i.e.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards Laetitia Tancredi

PS: You may publish my letter, but please do not include my professional email address since I do not wish to be “over flooded” by junk mails! If you request a translation work, please forward via your email address. Thank you.

Here are all the short stories numbers on a row with all the e-mails from Carol :

How about this e-mail ???? An e-mail from clutchman in the USA dated 30 May with the
subject : we were all insulted.

The editors (B&T) just copied and pasted this e-mail no corrections, no nothing !! literally copied and you may give your reaction if you want, e-mail us your words or comments...

what i do have to say won't matter at this point. it took me this long and my sister to tell me about his new album, disc or whatever you want to call it. i stayed with gino's music for many years, 29-30 years? bought everything i could find. CANTO was the last one i will ever buy.

you see, some years ago i wanted to see him when he was to do Detroit. something happened and he couldn't make that date. ok, fine. just after i bought Canto, he was to make a return trip. he did. i, my wife and sister were there. from the music he has done for so many years to that one date in detroit, remembering the songs that night then a repeat on his oncore of a song he already did, needless to say, we were all insulted. i always thought he could do a show that would be unforgetable.

i have chosen not only to forget him but also all i have bought of him as well. he can have it all back at his request. again, i expect nothing, want nothing and at this point, think nothing of him. this note will be deleted by you soon. but at least try to look at it this way for a moment. i really truly respect talent when i hear it. he had it, now as far as i'm concerned, he can keep it. he has too many fans to think anything of three. take care and long future to all. dennis

The editors received a letter by mail from a Gino Vannelli fan Heather Lynn in Ontario, Canada dated 21 February 2006. We type a few lines from this letter about Gino Vannelli and leave the personal stuff out.

Dear Barend and Trees, I Borrowed Brother To Brother from a Friend of mine and to tell you the awful truth I'm not going to say I didn't like it when I first heard it as I was into rock music at that time. So I borrowed the cassette tape off the same person and listened to it while I went to Nova Scotia by car in 1979. I left Toronto the Saterday in May that Gino played Maple Leaf Gardens so I never went to his second Toronto concert which was the Brother To Brother Tour. His first appearance was at Massey Hall in Toronto. This was the concert for the Gist of the Gemini. Elton John was there. I fell in love with Gino after that. So I went back and bought his previous albums. I bought Powerful People, Storm At Sunup, A Pauper In Paradise, Gist Of The Gemini & Crazy Life in that order. I've never missed an album since & I just replaced everything on CD.

Gino came back to Toronto in the summer a few years later and played at Ontario Place. It was the May 24th long weekend & I had plans so I missed him again. So I was even more heartbroken. You could take cameras to concerts then & I just bought a new lens for my Nikon & was looking forward to taking photos of him at an outside venue.

Toronto did not have a jazz festival like Montreal did for years. We have the jazz festival in the beaches in Toronto now. Gino hasn't played there. I found out that Gino played the CHIN picnic at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto after the event was over 5 years ago. The CHIN picnic is where all the Italian people go & have a special day. I've never made it to the Montreal Jazz Festival where Gino has played about three times. Only once was it announced he was appearing. I think he does Montreal as a last minute gig.

Gino took 12 years away from Toronto and came back to a club for the Inconsolable Man tour, which became the Live in Montreal tour when he went to Montreal to do it. I finally made it to see Gino and was dancing against the back wall it was awesome! He had Mike Miller with him. Mike played with him on Nightwalker & Big Dreamers Never Sleep in 1990.

Gino made it back on top when Black cars came out. He was doing videos & the clubs were playing the dance mix from Black Cars. The younger people were watching him. The Next time I saw Gino was on the Danforth at an old theatre in Toronto during Yonder Tree. He jazzed everything up & it was the best concert I've seen of him. I met two girls who won tickets & were at the taping of his show at Much Music. Due to the fact Gino was delayed at the border the show was delayed a day & I was able to be at home to tape it. I waited at his tour bus but we couldn't stand that long so we had to go.

The next time I saw Gino at Indigo Books in Toronto. He played to a small crowd of 75 people. It was the promotion for the release of CANTO. I can't believe how awesome that album is! I had a box camera, as I couldn't carry my Nikon with my cane. so the pictures aren't clear but a very nice lady took a photo of me with him, which sits above my computer. I've enclosed some of the photos...

My girlfriend lined up at HMV store & had him signed the songbook from Canto for me. I sent her a copy of Canto for her wedding anniversary & she loved it as he sung in Italian.

Gino did another interview with Much Music that I taped. Gino only toured in Montreal during the Canto tour. Gino played a few times in Atlantic City in the United States at one of the casinos. So I couldn't go, as I can't fly due to my neck. I found out Gino was playing at the Heritage Theatre in Brampton on your web site. So I was able to get tickets before they went on sale by becoming a member. I met a woman at the concert that was following Gino's tour in Ontario. These Are The Days tour had only played three venues, the band was new, and Gino was fighting the flu. i'd kill go to any Gino concert. I love his jazz styles. I'm not going to say the concert wasn't good because Gino was trying new music It just didn't seem to have the perfection or flair of the former concerts. I found that the music overpowered Gino's voice and he wasn't enjoying himself or joking like he does.

If you notice on the cover of Gino's new cd he spelled his name GINO VAN ELLI. You know he has a great sense of humor. He was in such a hurry when I was getting the autographs I couldn't ask him if he knowingly had it typeset this way? He had an album with RCA, which was his first, & at one time he called himself Van Elli.
More to come at the "These Are The Days" opinions web page........

An e-mail from M. McGiveron dated 29 March 2006 with the subject : Gino Vannelli

Hello,
I have been an undying fan since 1976 when as an FM announcer in Alaska but I was privledges to hear his music. Not many accepted his style well in my limited area however I anticipated every LP (yes, LP) he put out.

When I found myself seeking a partner via personal ads many years later, I fashioned it after " Is Anybody Out There?" I did find my soul mate a few years later and we have a 10 year old who knows probably more of Gino's songs than those of us in our 40's! I would just pass along to him if I could, how deeply he has touched my life both emotionally and spiritually. This awesome treasure I now share with friends and above all my 10 year old daughter. M. An e-mail from Doctor Aaron M. dated 27 March 2006 with the subject : Met w/gino

Hello,
On vacation last summer, I met with Gino by chance at the East Coast. He was with his family, however took time to sit with me as we discussed many topics, his previous music, and his upcoming (now released) pop album. on asking him regarding if he as a website, he cross-referenced you, therefore I am sending this to you.

I have a nice photo of Gino and myself, and can give you some of the content of the conversation, but I do not know if Gino would mind as I would like to respect his privacy. Whether you have contact with him I do not know, but I have a close friend who is a concert promotor in Las Vegas, whether that matters. I asked Gino if he would be interested in playing in Las Vegas, and he was not opposed to the idea. I can facilitate some contacts if at all possible.

please let me know, and great job on the site. Peace Dr Aaron M.

A very happy e-mail from Marco and Serena in Italy dated 4 March 2006 with this great and beautiful subject : Stefano has born!!!

A new Gino Vannelli fan is born in Italy !!!Dear friends, Stefano Primelli has opened his eyes to this world on March 2nd at 4.25 PM. It was the biggest emotion of our lives for me and Serena. I have assisted my wife from the beginning to the operation room and, believe me, it's hard to describe what you feel inside when you face a new life that fill up your days with joy and happiness.

The baby is safe and in excellent heatlh, tall but a little skinny, but i'm sure he will recover quickly.

Needless to say, Gino's "these are the days" kept me good companionship when i traeled from my home to the hospital up on the mountains...a couple of hours driving....and if there's a song so appropriate with this occurrence... "these are the days that make up our lives...." i know that becoming a father takes energy, wisdom, and it's a real commitment..will try to do the best i can to be a good dad..unfortunately you got to learn it on yourself, you don't learn it in schools..just follow your heart and your experience...

Will post a picture..one of the first i took..more will come in the future... God bless you both, Stefano, Serena and Marco

Gossip of the the Day - And again : Isn't It Amazing??????????????????

E-mails in the editors e-mailbox early this Thursday morning of 6 April 2006 : Saw Gino Vannelli today at the airport of New York, JFK!!! No names mentioned and we (the editors) do not recognize this e-mailadress it's from Hotmail!!! But it's an e-mail from the USA... That's for sure...

Same day another e-mail from an anonymous Gino Vannelli fan but also musician who met Gino Vannelli today in Pittsburgh, PA, USA.

And this e-mail : Gino Vannelli is in Miami, Florida !!! He is doing business and interviews for His new cd :
These Are The Days.

Does this make sense ? Not to the editors because there is already 1 big important thing : the timedifference... When we receive these e-mails the time in the USA is 6 or 7 or 9 hours earlier... Are this dreams or is this just teasing or is this the truth, we have no idea... Why is it that people do not mention their names or is it the way we think or has it something to do with culture??? We have no idea but sometimes this makes us think, think deep. Why do people e-mail us this news anonymous or with a stupid nickname??? The mysterious ways of human beings and the mysterious things of life ??? The fact that gino Vannelli is on the road now that's true but this knowledge make people get very restless and dreamy.

Anyways... It's about time to open a real GINO VANNELLI gossip web page...
Have a nice day today and keep on dreaming when it makes your life more beautiful !!!
The Editors (B&T) 6 April 2007.

Thought for the Day - Isn't It Amazing??????????????????

I'm sitting at lunch reading the reviews, guestbook - and just shaking my head!
Do you two ever get a chance to just sit and think about where all these people are writing from and how they are all coming together, and just ask, "isn't it amazing?"

Or, do you ever count up the emails you receive just from me and ask, "isn't it amazing?" Or, do you say, "she's one scary _ _ _ _ ."
T. with her thought for the day !!!

(150)

Words from the Editors B&T : Here are a few e-mails with the reactions from the different Gino Vannelli fans on this planet Gino Vannelli fans who fight with eachother for Gino Vannelli's attention and who knows the most about Gino Vannelli's private life !!!??? And yesssssss you have to remember that most Gino Vannelli fans are 50+

First e-mail with the subject : Stop Whining!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm getting tired of everyone crying about Gino not spending time and listening to their life story after each performance!!! What do these people want? Gino owes them! They deserve more! All anyone deserves is the best a peformer has to offer. And, I didn't hear one person complain about Gino's performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're lucky he has been so gracious all these years. How many other performers just leave the stage and you can "kiss their ass goodbye?"

OK, I'm done. It's been a long week and I just had this fight with this woman. She too, thinks Gino owes HER!!!!! Because she has to work hard for her money blah, blah, blah. . .drives all that way. . .(when she's not bumming a ride with GINO). Now I'm done! Nurse Cratchit

Second e-mail with the subject :

Nooooooooo this is too bad to post overhere, Sorry !!! Editors B&T.

Dear Barend and Trees:
Wow your website sure has grown! I used to be able to say I had read everything on it (in English) but now I know I haven't---and don't know if I ever will!!!!!

It sure has to keep you busy--especially with all the languages. If you are busy that means Gino is busy and that's a good thing.

I have to end here. I need to tell my middle child to "put the weihgt on my shoulders." She is having a hard time-first love heartbreak.
Take care. You are very special people!!!!
From a Gino Vannelli Fan in the USA.

(148)

Dear Barend and Trees:
Just thought I would mention these two coincidences to you.

When we went to see my daughter in Houghton, Michigan we attended an ice hockey game. There was a player on the University of Minnesota team which her school played against named Mike Vannelli. (2 N's). Dark hair, nice looking--at least as far as you can see someone in a hockey uniform and pads. It could be the Vannelli family's good looks being passed down.

Also a few years ago there used to be a restaurant about 45 minutes from our home in Lake Orion called "Vannelli's"----also with 2 N's. It was sold several years ago and is now a sports bar, but I have always wondered if it was owned by one of Gino Vannelli's family members. We pass it on the way to see my sister-n-law. LOL
Take care and enjoy many blessings from God!!!! Ramona

A word from the editors : The e-mails we receive concerning Gino Vannelli is just amazing... Sometimes it looks like we are the GINO VANNELLI office !!! (LOL!!!) And who are we ??? (B&T)

Here is an example : An e-mail from Jerry J. in Canada dated 6 February 2006 with the subject : Press Kit DVD of "Gino Vannelli Album Release" Live Performance at The Mod Club

Dear Gino Vannelli, Joe Vannelli, and Associates:
My name is Jerry J. I am an Ontario area video producer who specializes in live concert video for artists, managers, record companies, and booking agents.

I have recently produced video for Truths and Rights, The Bareback Riders, Lounge, The Johnstones, Keepin' 6, Flattstreet, The Escape Goats, Harrison Kennedy, Diana Panton, The Ride Theory, The Kevin MacLean Band, The Stars Here, Trickbag, Chris White, The Joys, and Eden Hill. I have also taped performances by Finger 11, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Pilate, Amy Sky, Coral Egan, Sue Foley, Wild T and the Experience, as well as many others. I am also a musician myself, and I believe that this experience gives me an edge over other videographers when it comes to recording live music. I am also a graduate of the media studies department of Mohawk College with a major in Broadcast Journalism. I was trained in videography by former CBC camera man "Dave Cook".

I use a broadcast quality "3 chip" camera (Sony PD-150), which not only is used by several national network broadcasters for field production, but it also records superior audio.

As a promotional offer exclusively to artists such as yourselves, I am currently offering a special price on recording up to 40 minutes of footage digtally videotaped and then transferred to DVD, for a total of $250.00 (including travel expense to Toronto). $175.00 following the taping of the performance and $75.00 upon completion of the DVD copy of your show. Ready for pick-up, pre-paid courier, or regular mail within a few days. Depending upon your schedule, I can also do a rush service for the next business day. Additional 40 minute sets are $35.00 each.

Your footage is then ready for promotional use and any additional editing you may wish to do in the future.

I also offer prod uction services to format your footage into a finished production for promotional use in your press kits, etc...

With a DVD of your best performances included in your press kits, you take the guesswork out of booking your acts. Clients know exactly what they are purchasing. Booking contacts can easily see and hear the live performance in the comfort of their own environment.

If you would like to make arrangements to tape your February 7th or 14th performances at The Mod Club Theatre, or another upcoming date, please e-mail me at ...@yahoo.ca or leave a message at 574 - 6520. I will periodically check both. Sincerely,
Jerry Johansen
The A/V Department

P.S.: Please also forward an e-mail which I can print a copy of for the sound tech crew indicating that I have your permission for a direct feed from the board. Although I get great results from my ambient mic at the camera, the board signal (if clean) provides addiitional options for post production. Please also advise the venue in advance. Please note this is a promotional rate only and well below market rates for this type of work. All prices subject to GST. Jerry J

An e-mail conversation between a Gino Vannelli fan and a DJ with the name Mike Sakellarides at a radio station named KOST135 FM Los Angeles in California, USA :
SUBJECT : Luncheon with Gino Vannelli from late 1977

E-mail (1) :
Hi Mike, Sorry, unfortunately, I was not in the picture or I'm sure I would have been sitting next to Gino. I just happened to come upon your site do my ususal daily Gino searches. I have been a big fan for over 30 years. It's always interesting to see new items pop-up on the net about Gino. Do you have stories or any other memorabilia to share about Gino? Was he in town for a concert or to promote his album? Thanks, Terry - Pittsburgh

E-mail (2) :
Hi, Terry! That picture was taken to celebrate his arrival in town to perform at "the Coliseum" in Los Angeles, and the success of his album "Brother to Brother." It was an expensive French restaurant Le St. Germaine which is no longer. Everything done first class. I had been a Gino fan since "Powerful People" and was not disappointed. Gino was a most genial host. Just curious, which search engine or page helped you find my site with the picture? Mike Sakellarides, Midday Host, KOST 103.5 FM, L.A., CA

E-mail (3) :
Hi Michael, Terry again!
Have you heard Gino's new album "It's Only Love?" Definitely worth a listen. Selling out every show in Canada! Great new band. Terry

E-mail (4) :
No, Terry, but I'll try to get a copy.
By the way you can listen to my show at
KOST1035 FM anywhere! Mike Sakellarides

E-mail (5) :
Mike, found a new listener! Great tunes. Maybe you can be the first to introduce Gino's new cd?? He would make a great "featured artist". Just like I'd make a great promoter! Take Care Terry

E-mail (6) :
Terry, Glad you're enjoying our station as millions do around the world! My boss will be back Monday. Will discuss Gino! Best wishes, Mike

E-mail (7) :
Maybe Gino will get some airplay and pre promo in LA!!! Hehehe!!! Terry from Pittsburgh...

It's not "Find the Popes in the Pizza Time," but it is a luncheon with Gino Vannelli from late 1977 in celebration of his album "Brother to Brother" which eventually gave Gino a Grammy Award for his smash hit "I Just Wanna Stop." By the way, if you're in this picture, drop a line to Mike@kost1035.com and point yourself out!

A few words from the Editors (B&T) :
OK thanks for sharing your words with the world and us here is the black and white picture where Terry and Mike are talking about and we are 10 million %%%%%% sure that this is absolutely NOT Gino Vannelli !!! We wanna make a bet ??? !!! Why do we think this picture and text do not fit and are totally wrong !!!??? Here is our opinion ??? Because it's 1977 and Brother To Brother was released in 1978 and where is Joe Vannelli on this picture ??? Where are the musicians ??? The man who sits there in the middle looks like the singer of a group called Nazareth and they made a song called : "Love Hurts" or something like that but this man does not look like GINO VANNELLI at all but hey that's our humble opinion, a B&T opinion !!!

An Email from Anne-Marie in the USA. Date 11 February 2006.
Subject : Gino

Last night as I was leaving the grocery store, they started playing "I Just Wanna Stop". My first thought was to go back in, but it was getting late so I decided to head to my car. As I'm walking away from the store I realized the music was also playing outside, so I listened to Gino while putting groceries into my trunk. How cool is that? AM

2 Emails from Phil Vannelli in Thompsons Station, TN, USA. Date 15 December 2005.
Subject : Gino?s family tree.

I would like to know about Gino?s family tree. I was born and raised in Boston, MA and visited our relatives in Montreal quite frequently as a young kid (born in 1943) I can remember some of the family that had recently come over from Italy and started their roots in Montreal working in a meat packing plant. I believe the adults were Dominic, John, Leonard, Joe and Nick and I seem to remember two of the kids were named Mary and Joey. I heard that part of the family had purchased a vacation home in Florida. One of the offspring came out to California for a honeymoon trip and unfortunately passed by drowning.

I would be interested in knowing if Gino is from this family and if he is a distant relative.

By the way, I need to mention that you have my permission to post my e-mail!
Regards, Thompsons Station, TN
Phil Vannelli

Dear Barend & Trees,
Wishing you a very happy holiday season. We checked out all the dates for Gino,... unfortunately they're all either on the West Coast or in Canada,... beyond our means.

I have a new Gino story to tell you. My daughter Alicia, who is now four years old, and I were listening to our local Christmas music station and there was a lovely version of " Oh Holy Night " being sung by a wonderful, operatic male singer ( not sure of his name). Alicia cocked her head and listened, then asked me who it was. I told her I wasn't sure and she beamed. " I think it's Gino!" she said. " It sounds just like Gino." We would surely love to hear Gino sing that song someday - perhaps a Gino Christmas Album is in order! I'm sure all his fans would agree. Sally Drayer, 13 December 2005.

Kind regards, Marco in Italy.

Hi Barend and Trees
I've spent the last two hours on the internet and in the process, I spent quite a bit of time on your Gino site to catch up on things. Oh my! There is so much to read and see. Beautiful pictures and beautiful stories. Thank you so much for giving us Gino fans somewhere to go and find out what's going on. I commend you for taking so much time out of your lives to do this.

I happened to do a Gino search to see what else is on the net, and I came across this page. You may have already seen this, but in case you didn't, go down to births and you will see Gino Vannelli under 1952 .. the year he was born!

Keep up the good work. I hope all is fine with the two of you. Very much looking forward to the new CD even if I have to wait a while to get it. Have a wonderful holiday if I don't talk to you before then. Thinking of you in New York where we've had lots and lots of snow.

Subject : a word from Ani to Mr. Vannelli
Dear Mr. Vannelli
I am Ani Lagidze, a young producer who writes to you from Tbilisi, Georgia (former ex-soviet republic). Georgia is located in the Caucasus, bordening with Armenia and Ajerbaijan. I was ca 13-14 years old (during Communism period) when a famous Georgian art director Robert Sturua brought first time into the country your the Gist of Gemini. I made my friends to copy it from the only tape I owned that time.

After 20 yaers I was able to buy The Best of Ginno Vannelli CD at Virgin Record Store in NYC. I still listen to your music with pride and passion. I am thinking seriously to invite you to Tbilisi and show my countrymen the Brilliant Gino in Live. Would appreciate greatly if you put me in touch with your management.
With admiration, Ani Lagidze, Tbilisi, Georgia

* that's an interesting story about my country.
The Georgians themselves tell the following story about how they came to possess the land they deem the most beautiful in the world. When God was distributing portions of the world to all the peoples of the Earth, the Georgians were having a party and doing some serious drinking. As a result they arrived late and were told by God that all the land had already been distributed. When they replied that they were late only because they had been lifting their glasses in praise of Him, God was pleased and gave the Georgians that part of Earth he had been reserving for himself.

Hello!
Thank you very much for all your hard work, regarding the Gino Website.

I have been a fan of Gino's music since I was a junior in high school. I am now 42 years old. I recently purchase Gino's "Storm at Sunup" on CD. I can remember listening to a concert in Pittsburgh, PA. that was broad cast in 1978 or 1979. I was just a kid. I fell in love with Gino's song "Where Am I Going". The instrumentation of that song is just awesome, along with Gino's voice. The broad cast was most of his songs from the album Storm At Sunup. I long to get all Gino's music on CD. MY GINO COLLECTION IS ON VINYL AND RESIDES IN PENNSYLVANIA. I NOW LIVE IN COLORADO.

HAS GINO EVER PREFORMED IN COLORADO?
HOW OLD IS GINO?
Thank you again for you great website. I really appreciate your dedication. Very Sincerely, Robin Dzambo

Hello, Gino Vannelli lovers !!!!!!!!!

How are you doing?
Two days ago I listened to Swedish national radio, and suddenly I heard "Jack Miraculous"!!! The program is called "Summer" where well known Swedes speak freely and play their favorite music for about an hour. A lot of people listen to this program every day during the summer. It was a piano player named Tina Ahlin who had the show that day. After Gino faded out she said: This was one of my heros from my teenage years:

Gino Vannelli!!!!

Here you can hear it:

Above the name "Tina Ahlin", click on "Real Player" or "Windows Media Player". The song starts at 3.20 and ends at 5.46. LOL!

Have a nice Gino Vannelli summer!!!!!

21 June 2005 : Another quick story about Gino :

I was first exposed to his music in the mid 70's. I knew right away I was listening to a genius...his power and passion were awe inspiring.

When he recorded Yonder Tree in Portland, a good friend of mine, bassist Phil Baker recorded with him and was the bassist for the European/Japan tour in support of the record. Before they left on tour, Phil invited my wife and I to a final practice concert. The concert was held in a small, non descript concrete warehouse building in a small community outside of Portland. I didn't know what to expect when I drove up to this building. Inside was amazing, a full blown recording studio (state of the art) and a small performance space. There were about 40 of us there. It was very casual and we sat in the front row. When Gino and the band took the stage, it was magical. His charisma and absolute control of the music led to a beautiful concert. He played the Yonder Tree tunes flawlessly and also included some jazz versions of his earlier pop tunes.

After the show, Gino mingled with everyone, signed our CD (which I treasure) and thanked us profusely for coming. Imagine him thanking us! All I could think of is I just witnessed a rare lifetime event with one of our modern day masters.

A memory I will cherish always. Mert M.

Hi friens
Im wondering if you realize that maybe, a lot of Gino fans are musicians, and I been searching for sheet music of Gino( ther's nothing on the market, worldwide), and, Im sure yet he has a lots of things to teach to people about arrange, composition, no only image about his ugly face if you compare whit Brad Pitt. I think Gino is basically a great musician, and if you have any contact whit him. you have to tell him that he can not pass away of this world whitout, share or sell his music knowledge.

Hello Barend and Trees,
I was visiting a friend in Nashville recently and wanted to tell you about an experience I had there. I was in a small shop talking to the owner about music (she had several musical things in her shop that I liked - and two that I bought and came home with) and, as whenever the topic is music, I started talking about Gino. She said that he'd been one of her favorites and she was disappointed that he hadn't released anything lately. I asked her if she had Canto, and, when she said no, I got to describe it to her. She said it sounded interesting and she'd have to go on line and order it that night!

While we were talking, another woman came in the shop and stood nearby looking at one pair of earrings for a long time. I thought it was odd until I realized she was listening to our conversation! Then she asked about Canto and I got to tell her too. She said she'd seen him in concert "years ago" and would have to be sure to get Canto. I told them both that he would be doing some concerts this summer and they both said they'd have to find out the dates and see if they could go! It's so good to run into Gino fans, and I love spreading the word that he's still out there and creating. Best to you both, Jann (USA)

Ciao! Here is my poor Italian translation of the "Andrea in Italy" message, dated Saturday 26 June 2004 :

Gino, you are the best singer in the world, I have dreamt of your songs for years. When I'm at home, I listen to "Love of My Life." Thanks for the feelings it gives me. I am happy that your image as an artist is serious and competent, without the "Divo" attitude. I hope that you continue for many years, to create emotional music for us that is always true. Thanks . . . you will always be admired. Andrea.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how close I got!! Are there male Divas or are they Divos? I took your suggestion and put all of the compilation songs on one cd. What a great collection of eclectic sounds, all with the same angelic voice! Gut Nacht, Terry.

A Janet Chvatal story by Gail : Janet Chvatal the opera singer on Gino Vannelli's masterpiece CANTO !!!

Hello B&T!!
It's windy in Kansas City this night... quite common for this time of year!
A few things to write to you about...

Saturday (April 2nd 2005) was the Chvatal/Kritzer concert... I drive the 90 minutes listening to Gino, arrive at the music hall, and walked in to see where the concert hall was... had never been in the building before...and who was also walking the hallway, looking for someone to unlock the dressing room?? None other than Janet Chvatal... I couldn't help her but we walked the hallways -- I talked with her -- as Emporia is a small town (45,000 perhaps?) but has a college with some musical events, she wondered how I'd heard of the concert when she learned I'd driven so far to see her... so I pulled out my Canto CD -- "ah, Gino"! I complimented her on her beautiful work with Gino... and she asked if I'd like to hear a Gino story!!! Of course!!!! She said when she told fellow musicians she was going to work with Gino, she was told "You'll HATE Gino, he's such a perfectionist"... she said she walked into his studio and they just "clicked"... he re-wrote her music in the studio and then they just went to work... she said she loved working with him, he's the ultimate musician... she said she and Scott Kritzer have a Christmas CD coming out and Gino has done a couple of the songs production wise, I guess, she didn't say that he was singing on their CD... she did say she knew Gino is touring this summer.... The concert was just gorgeous... she has such an incredible soprano voice, and Scott Kritzer's classical guitar was the best accompaniment she could have had. Janet had to fly back to Munich Germany Sunday, she's on stage there in a production about the Emperor Ludwig, she plays his wife. She flew many miles to fulfill her engagement in Emporia Kansas. It was a magical concert!! Her CD's can be ordered thru Miramont dot com They've just released :
"In the Blue Hour".

So I drove back home, listened to Janet and Gino as I drove..the miles passed very quickly... no matter how many times I listen to Canto, each time it's like hearing it for the first time... Hope you have lots of sunshine in the Netherlands........ thanks again for your dedication and devotion to Gino!
Gail, Kansas City, USA, dated 5 april 2005.

Yes, you may print the Janet story... she was very gracious and funny! It's nice to know she's not a "prima donna!!
I like the idea of it going on the short stories web page... she was so gracious to talk of Gino...

Hello, Barend & Trees.

Here's another story about my lovely little 3-year-old Gino fan, Alicia.
For Christmas this year, she received one of those teaching books that talks to you, and one of the pages featured a map of the U.S.
She enjoys touching her pen to the page and hearing the names of the different states. Briefly, I mentioned to her that Oregon is the state where Gino lives, after reading about this in the liner notes of " Canto ".
Alicia remembers this and when you ask her, " Where does Gino live?" she promptly answers, " Oregon!"
Thanks to Gino, Oregon is the first state, other than Maryland, of course, that Alicia recognizes on the map!

Good evening Barend and Trees....

Hello from Kansas City again................. I first want to thank you for all the wonderful reading and "looking" I've been doing on your website since I discovered it around the first of December. Amazing! Thank goodness we have you to keep us informed on the Master of Music. I wrote in December after I'd about worn out my first copy of Canto -- and now, I'm back to having nothing but all my Gino CD's, both "new" and "old" in the CD stacker and what incredible music all over again.... his voice is just FABULOUS (yeah, I know, you've heard it all before). I told my husband this evening that I HAVE to hear Gino in person sometime soon. There are so many songs that I've always loved and as I listen to even the 30 year old music, I can't help but feel that he was/is so totally into what he was writing, (at even that young age) and that has not changed... it just gets better and better.

I got my membership monthly circular from Columbia House today -- and in it, Gino's Canto is on the "going going gone" sale pages, which broke my heart... and I ordered another 6 for gifts for deserving friends. How I would love to know how this album has done sales wise for Gino. We can hope for good results for him sales wise so his music can keep coming to us from the company that is wise enough to let him "do his own thing" musically.
Thanks again for all the hard work!
Gail Shawnee, Kansas (a suburb of Kansas City!)

An e-mail from Ramona, USA dated : 7 December 2004 :

I have been listening a lot to the Bruno Pelletier CDs this year, interspersed with Gino Vannelli's of course. If it weren't for all of the hard work you have done on the internet I would have missed some fantastic music from the greatest singer in the world (GINO VANNELLI!!!!!!!!!!) and the second greatest singer in the world (BRUNO PELLETIER!!!!!!!!!). Even though I do not understand any French it is a beautiful sounding language. My daughters, who both took French in high school, say that you can say "Take out the garbage" in French and it sounds so pretty. I love listening to languages and accents. I love hearing Gino Vannelli sing or speak (on the web) anything in any language. There is something about the pitch of his voice that I find - I don't know---attractive?? comforting?? relaxing?? I don't know exactly what it is but I like it-je ne sais quoi.

I checked out your auction pages a day or two ago. WOW!! Great items and all for charity. Wonderful!! I am saving my $$ for some Gino Vannelli CDs that I don't have yet (the boxed set and Japan and another new one you told all of us fans about) and to hopefully see Gino in concert someday. I'm still hoping for that!! But I still like seeing what is on auction.

This may sound funny to you but I just love you both to pieces. You are so kind to so many people you don't even know and you do all of this hard (and very frustrating work). I am tickled to death that you put the words of how many Gino fans feel in their hearts about him and his work on the internet. I'm sending you big, big hugs for this.

Because of your web pages (website) I may still yet get to see Gino perform (even if I have to go to another country). I think it's great that you both get to travel. (I'm just a TINY bit jealous and I hope you don't mind!!)

My husband ordered a Christmas CD of Bruno Pelletier's from Ebay yesterday and I can't wait to hear it. It's an "early" Christmas gift he is giving me. (24 years of marriage and he still surprises me once in a while)

I will watch your pages for news of the "Moon over Madness" song and hope it will be in the (Bruno Pelletier) play and on the CD which is supposed to come out next year. I'm also waiting to hear more about "The Fool." I'm so glad Gino Vannelli pursued music and not another "job." Some day I will have to write him a "fan" letter but everything I want to say has already been said by all of his other fans --you just have to put it all together!! I can't imagine he would want to hear it all again.
Well, I just got more work in so I gotta go. This email is quite long as it is. God bless you both with EVERYTHING GOOD and thanks again for all of the hard work and long hours you put in on your website. It has grown so much which makes it a BIG GIFT to all Gino Vannelli fans. (Stay warm, too!) Ramona, USA

An e-mail from Gino Fan T., USA dated : 4 December 2004 :

You're not going to believe this! I was on the fans page and had just read the "911" letter... I was sort of hashing it over in my head to decide what I thought and I continued to scroll down the Gino Vannelli fans stories page. I stopped at the pictures towards the bottom and was just staring. I've seen this picture probably 10 times or so. But all of a sudden, I realized I was staring at a guy that works with me. He was at the concert in Pittsburgh at Rosebud's in 1999. I thought I was going to split a gut laughing. To give you some background, the two guys I work with (Larry and Nick) tease me all day long about Gino. They walk past me singing his songs, call him a "girlie man" etc. anything to get under my skin. The only trouble is that Nick actually likes Gino alot !!! And loves to see Gino live on stage !!! Larry didn't know this. So, this morning when I got to work I told them I had to show them something I saw last night on the internet. When I opened the site, they immediately started laughing and poking fun of me and Gino. I told them the best laugh was yet to come! I got to the photo and just like for me it took a moment to register that Nick's face should not be on a Gino Vannelli Fan Site!!! It was so funny, we've been laughing all day and Larry has been calling Nick a Gino closet fan. I just had to share that with you, it's one of those "had to be there" kind of incidents. But by the way, if you want to list their names, they're Nick Arrington and his fiance, Jean Oblawski! It is the picture with the guy making the peace signs. Nick and Jean are sitting behind him in the 3rd row. Nick has the snow white hair and mustache!!!!!!! And don't forget to mention that he is a REALLLLLLLLLLLLY BIG FAN. So everyone, can see it! Thanks, I can't wait. T.

Een e-mail van Clem d.d. 30 September 2004, in vervolg op het korte verhaal van onderstaande nummer 116 :

DUTCH : Hoi barend & Trees,

Dikke groeten, Clem.

An e-mail from Clem dated 30 September 2004 with the continues short story which starts underneath at number 116:

ENGLISH : Hi Barend and Trees,
Yes, it's a funny story and I am really curious to know if it's true. Like I told you before : Ask Gino when you have a chance. Yes, that's something, two young guys... who did not have a record deal for that long... Who joke around about Steinway and Sons and make them look silly... It's a very old interview though and I have no idea in which magazine this interview was printed ? (I got it from my Brother!) It was not mentioned on the list of interviews at the old first official Gino Vannelli web site. (The site on which all the interviews thru the years are listed.) Okay hey it was German !! Hahahaha !!! I think it was about 20 years ago and the title was really arrogant and presumptuous : " A star and his shadow "... The magazine had this opinion about Gino's Brother Joe Vannelli they wrote that Joe had to be in the shadow of Gino and that Joe was a kind of attachment. By the way it is very striking that this was a German article because Gino was totally and completely unknown in Germany in those days! Me and my Brother are really allowed to say that we in that period of time introduced Gino Vannelli and His music in Cologne, Germany and certainly in that area of Germany.... I always took Gino stuff with me to my brother in Cologne, Germany as soon as it was released in Holland, like LP's and vinyl singles, Germany, my brother owned a pub there. I did that because after the releases in Holland it took about 3 years before they released the same Gino stuff in West-Germany. Maybe only in the real big cities in Europe this new Gino stuff was for sale... But most of the time it was very rare and collector's items... That's why my brother asked me to bring all modern new music from Holland with me to his pub because in Germany they could not listen to this music.

"What is that ??? what are you playing ???" "That is Gino Vannelli!!" says my brother... GREAT!!! "Who is that ???" Said the Germans.... Yes, really that's the way it all went at that time...

And yes ofcourse you are allowed to print this all on your web site...
(If you know how to put a logical beginning and end to this story!) You know ??? Maybe there is somebody on this planet who also knows this story ??? And if this is right(!) it is also a nice "DID YOU KNOW???......" story.

I finish now with an old-fashioned expression :
Oh yes, the more Vannelli in and around the house, the more you feel at home...

Short story 116 and short story 117...

Een e-mail van Clem d.d. 11 September 2004 :

DUTCH : Hai Luitjes,

"Yamaha for ever" moet ie gedacht hebben of iets dergelijks.

Wel eens van gehoord van dit verhaal? Anders wel leuk om Gino eens hier naar te vragen, toch!? Want da's wel lef, toch? een Steinway afzeiken...
Groetjes! Clem. Wordt vervolgd in number 117 !!!

An e-mail from Clem dated 11 September 2004 :

ENGLISH : Hi Folks,
SO, Yessss indeed, thru your link I succeeded to hear the interview / phonecall. Fun piece of work! Nice to hear!

Something else about Gino...
When Gino told about the way they programmed the old synthesisers, I suddenly had to think about an very old interview with Him, a long, long time ago. It was a German magazine. (YES, yes German!) The title was : "Ein Star und seinem schatten".
(A Star and His shadows...) It's a pity I lost it.
Maybe you know it or maybe you have it? Besides many general things there was one thing in the interview which highly surprised and amazed me and I had to ask myself all the time is this true or not ?? To show what a perfectionists the Vannelli boys were the magazine writes that Gino only has a Yamaha piano at home.
(And that Joe could not move his ass around because of all the stuff which is installed in his home.)
But why a Yahama piano? Gino told that they were busy in the studio with a Steinway grand-piano. (Cost price about a hundred thousand Guilders!) Not the cheapest one! Not a piece of crap! But the story goes that the boys got sick of the Steinway thing. It was forever false... It did not play nice... which is almost impossible with these piano's. After a few days they still decided to throw the thing out of the door!!! HA! And they went on with the Yamaha piano. And they could not get this one false. Whatever they did with it!
He must have thought "Yamaha for ever" or something like that!

Did you ever hear this story? It's a funny thing to ask Gino about this, isn't it?? That's guts!!! Isn't it??? Bully a Steinway...
Greetings! Clem. To be continued in number 117 !!!

Editor's comment : No Clem we do not have this magazine and we did not know this story ! When the oppertunity comes we will ask Gino. Thanks for sharing with the Gino Vannelli world !!! Maybe another Gino Vannelli fan owns this German magazine or can confirm this story....
If somebody has any comment please e-mail us and we will print it overhere on this Gino Vannelli short stories web page. About the title : "Ein Star und seinem schatten". Your translation : (A Star and His shadows...) Why shadows ?? We like to translate "Schatten" into "treasures" instead of shadows, or is that wrong ?? Thanks to Clem from the editors.

Dear Barend & Trees I am an American Gino fan in Baltimore, Maryland and love your website.
Gino?s music has brought me through good times and bad, since I was a kid in the seventies.
I have never had the honor of seeing Gino perform live in concert, but hope to someday.
In the meantime, I continue to be moved by his music as well as the many stories of his kindness and warmth toward his fans.
It is so refreshing to hear that Gino holds his admirers in such high regard when most of the time, one only hears of celebrities doing all they can to avoid contact with their public. I have a two-year-old daughter who lights up when I play ? Gino? and sings along to ? I Just Wanna Stop.? Alicia even whispers ? God bless Gino.? and giggles when I put her to bed at night. Her daddy smiles tolerantly - though his admiration is not as extensive, he respects Gino?s talent and enjoys his music.

I was looking at the portrait of Gino that was done in Paris on your website and could not resist wanting to add my own rendition. I am a painter and I do portraits on Christmas ornaments. Here is my painting of Gino.

As you can guess, this does not get packed away with the other ornaments after the holidays, but remains out year-round to sit on my desk and inspire me while I paint.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you or any of Gino's fans are interested in these. While my art can only be a hobby right now, my dream is to make it a career someday, like Gino has done.

That is all, except that I would like to add a very special thank you to Gino for sharing the gift of your talent and giving so much for all these years. May God bless and keep you and your family and continue to guide you as you give inspiration to us all!

( Please feel free to put my words and these images on your webpage - except for my work address. Thanks!)
Sally Drayer.

The subject : A Mistery ?

Re: Tonny's (of Denmark) mystery -- the typed material he found inside a record jacket was a press release sent out by the firm of Intercom. The names listed at the bottom are the partners of the firm. They obviously sent records out to the press and VIPs to generate interest in Vannelli.

(I know because I worked for the firm in Los Angeles.)

This Gino Vannelli has been happening for a long time.
I have been an ardent fan many years .
I don't understand why the genius of his work is not heard day in and day out..
I always felt he was " too good " and maybe some musicians didn't know what to do with him. ;o)
It used to be Gino and his brother Joe that created the Vannelli sound..
I saw him in Florida several years ago..
He did all the old songs and some new ones.
The old ones still felt fresh.
Thanks for your dedication.. I am glad he was in Denmark.
I think Denmark likes good music and I know they have a flair for jazz. I also lived in Slagelse, Dk .,
a while back and would have loved to see Gino Vannelli in concert anywhere.
Your site shows that you truly have wonderful taste in music.
Sincerely,
Anita Taylor

Messages number 82 and 83 and 110 are about this subject : Gina Bold.

Dear Clem
Thank you for taking the time to write the lyrics for Gina Bold, it's a love song.
How lovely that when I was 10 years old living in Abbey Road London with all the Beatle mania around at the time someone called Gino penned a song using my name.
He didn't know me and I don't know him but somehow he came up with that name.
Maybe he knew another Gina Bold, but that seems unlikely, it's an unusual name with Scottish links.
I too am an artist so it seems very special that another artist used my name in a song. I might just paint a picture of him one day and call it Gino Vannelli by Gina Bold, to reverse the compliment.
With Love

Hello, Barend and Trees,
Have to tell you this....
Last week i was shopping in the Xenos store (You will know what I mean!)
because I do not know how to write that name Xenos.
I had a Gino Vannelli vinyl LP in my hand, it was a Mexican pressing of Gino Vannelli CLASSICS or a kind of
BEST OF...
with a BIG Gino Vannelli photo.
I needed to buy a box in which I could keep my vinyl LP's from my Gino Vannelli collection.
So I was fitting and juggling...
Moving boxes made of plastic and wood and carton and putting the Gino Vannelli picture sleeve inside all possible boxes and suddenly IT HURTS TO BE IN LOVE started flowing through the store..... huh ???
Is this just fantasy ??? NO it was for real Gino Vannelli's voice... WOW !!! There were people looking at me because I pointed with my finger to the speakers and those people must have been thinking something like :
" How sad that woman must have a mental disease or disorder !!! "

But hey I only enjoyed the moment and cherished these few minutes with a BIG smile on my face and my finger pointed to the speakers........ And I found a real beautiful wooden box for my Gino Vannelli vinyl LP's !!! What an afternoon !!!

Hello, Barend and Trees,
I am so excited, you are truly angels to give so much information about Gino.
I am surprised that he did an older song "None so beautiful" How appropriate for this world now.
Many of his older songs, like the War Suite or Powerful People are so appropriate today.
His vision is painful but also beautiful.
Viva Vannelli!
Much love, Valerie Fusco

My Great Weekend With Gino Vannelli.........

This to me was a dream come true.
I am 36 and live in the state of Michigan, USA. My bothers and I were exposed to the music of Gino Vanelli at a very young age by our father. Brother to Brother, The Gist of the Gemini, A Pauper in Paradise, Storm at Sunup and and the others were considered our favorite music and touched our lives and our emotions over and over for many years even until today.
As kids my brothers and I fantasized at how great it would be to see Gino perform live. We checked into it through various channels and found nothing. 25 years went by when we learned of Gino playing the House of Blues in Chicago, Illinois. Without hesitation we purchased tickets and booked rooms at The House of Blues Hotel for the weekend of the show. Here is the cool part. Upon arrival Friday afternoon at the hotel I found myself alone in the lobby with just one other person checking in...Gino Vanelli. I was not sure it was him until he walked away and was cornered by other fans with a Brother to Brother album for him to sign. I was disappointed in myself for not at least saying hi. The next night we saw the show...incredible. The following Sunday morning I once again found myself face to face with the man who composed the music that had been so inspiring to me most of my life. This time is was in the buffet line in the Lobby of the hotel. My brothers and our wives hung around the hotel lobby where Gino, his wife and a friend were eating just across the lobby. We were star struck but determined to say something, get a picture, whatever. Finally my older brother got the courage to wonder over and say hi, shake Gino?s hand and thank him for a great show. I immediately followed after he ?broke the ice?. Gino was very gracious and invited us to talk for a moment. What a nice guy. Again, what a great performance the night before. Because of all the exposure to Gino for that 3 days I call it my great weekend with Gino Vanelli.
Thanks for the outlet to share this storey!

Hi Barend & Trees,
Hope that all is well with you and yours during this hot summer!
Not only is it hot, but it's humid as well! (No where to run from the heat of the sun!)
I won't be able to catch the Gino shows in Atlantic City because I'll be down in Florida visiting my parents.
(It might actually be cooler down there, if that is possible. Besides, they have a swimming pool!) Trump finally did set up a website to get tickets, but the last time I looked, "Vannelli" was mis-spelled! (That's not the first time that has happened!) With any luck, time and place will come together and I'll get to see a live performance.
(Where one door closes, two more open up!)

I found something that might be of interest. I have several CD's that are skipping, and a friend suggested this:

Skipdoctor

It does work. You spray a lubricant on the CD, crank until the entire CD is milled, flip a switch and mill backwards. Dry and polish. The edge of the swirl wheel has a fine emory material that does the work. The entire procedure takes about 5 minutes. I tested it on a damaged "Journey's Greatest Hits" CD before any Gino CD's! I did fix a "Big Dreamers Never Sleep" CD with this. If it saves a rare "Crazy Life" CD, it is worth every penny! The website gives a list of stores. It is supposed to be available worldwide and works on DVD's and data CD's as well. I don't mean to sound like a commercial, but I was very impressed with the results. This is wonderful for out-of-print CD's.
Please feel free to share this info.
Stay cool and talk to you soon.

Hi, just got back from a gig (I sing and play piano) and thought I would reply to your
e-mail. I can see that you are all big fans of Ginos!
In answere to your question I have only heard snippets of "Canto" and the voice still sounds amazing! That was the reason I liked and admired Gino in the first place. I was, and still am a big fan of instrumental music, classical to jazz! and it seemed to me in the 80s that although there were brilliant instumentalist in both fields, no vocalist could quite match up to the profficiency of the players, that was until i heard Pauper in Paradise and for the first time i felt like the vocalist wasnt the weakest link in the band!

My former wife was a recording artist in her own right(BMG) and she had nothing but praise for Gino and Joe, she said they were consumate professionals and the sound in the studio (Blue Moon) was unbalievable! I do like her singing
"one more sunset on LA" and "Moment to moment" I think she did a good job!

She did record a couple of other tracks with Gino but I dont think they were included on the album. Anyway thanks for the mail and keep listening! Andy...... Ps included a pic of me.

SUBJECT : My Gino Story...
In the 70's my dad was a big Gino fan. Especially during the hot Cleveland summers, he would play Gino albums like Brother to Brother at top decible. Often, I could hear it from down the block, while I was riding home on my bike. My dad died very untimely in the '82. It was a very sudden and traumatic death for my mother and I. She and I would often take trips in the Ohio countryside, silently letting Gino's great voice ease our suffering. Here it is, 20 years later, and I find myself listening to Gino again. His great voice and amazingly-produced music takes me back to my childhood. His philosophy of loving life, your partner, and having peace amongst humanity are timeless. And I can't help but sing along and think of my beautiful girlfriend Jacquie, the Love of my Life, as I listen to Gino 20 years later.

SUBJECT : Your Websites...
I would again like to thank you both from the bottom of my heart for your beautiful websites and your devotion to Gino Vannelli. E-MAIL FROM : Pam from Chatham, Ontario..., DATED : 8 June 2003.
SUBJECT : Gino Vannelli's Walk of Fame.
Dear Barend and Trees: I was thrilled to see that Gord Baird started this on your site regarding Gino Vannelli being entered in Canada's Walk of Fame..... approximately 2 to 3 years ago I called Global TV and was able to leave a personal message on Elaine Loring's voicemail. She was doing the Walk of Fame at the time. I left her a voice mail requesting that Gino Vannelli be put into our Walk of Fame.... Sadly, Miss Loring didn't reply to me at all and I never heard anything about it....I didn't expect her to reply but I DID think she would jump on my idea! I will certainly use this site as a tool to do whatever I can to help. Gino deserved it along time ago!!!

I realize you receive a tremendous amount of e-mails about Gino--can anyone tell me when he is going to tour?---I have his albums, tapes and now CD's, but I have wanted to see him all of my life--I heard him announced to play at the Industry Club in Michigan some years back and begged my husband (now ex) to take me, he was lucky enough to see him in the 70's and he promised to take me--stating--"he's Canadian and he will come to Canada--we will go then--I didn't hear about any Canadian tour--needless to say I missed him once again....but... I just saw him on Canada AM a few weeks ago promoting Canto and I have read some Canadian newspaper articles--it really sounds like he's gearing up for a tour....The London Free press article mentioned a fall of 2003 tour????

I also want to say that the Windsor Star made it seem like Gino was putting the past behind him.... seemed like he felt down..I just have to say, if Gino is ever in earshot or reads what his fans have to say, then know this Gino--- I feel the passion in your new music as I have felt the passion of days gone by --your artistic craft was part of my youth and is part of me now---it is part of all of us--it is part of your youth, your family, and part of you now. Don't ever doubt that you were and still are a STAR............................................... Kudos to you, Gord Baird for finding a way for all of us to catch Gino's star and roll with it, all the way to Canada's Walk of fame!!!! Special Thanks to Barend and Trees for your website --which I stumbled across on my hunt --once again for a Gino Vannelli tour.............. Best of Luck to all! One of your Greatest fans, Gino............. Pam from Chatham, Ontario...June 8, 2003...oh and--yes you can put this on your website.

E-MAIL FROM : Gord Baird, DATED : 30 May 2003.
SUBJECT : Nominate Gino Vannelli for the 2004 Canada's Walk of Fame.
Hello there!
Firstly, I would to compliment you on a terrific and unabashed web site devoted to the words and music of Gino Vannelli.

In Toronto, Canada, we have a walk of fame in the theater district that displays prominent and remarkable Canadians from the arts, entertainment, and sports talents in the world through a series of inlaid "sidewalk stars."
Canada's Walk of Fame for 2003 includes Shania Twain, Mike Myers, Robbie Robertson and Scotty Bowman to name a few. Canada's Walk of Fame is now accepting nominations for 2004. I can think of no other Canadian deserving of this honour than Gino Vannelli. I am hoping that with your assistance through your web site we can get the many fans of Gino to go to Canada walk of fame to submit Gino Vannelli's name for the Canada's Walk of Fame. With your help, I am confident we will be able to succeed with a "sidewalk star."

I thank you for your devotion and appreciation of all things Gino.
Gord B. Toronto, Canada. * End of e-mail *

Editor's comment :
Here is a direct link to the nomination form so hit the keys of your computer and type Gino Vannelli with your opinion why Gino Vannelli ??? And that is even more easy !!! If you need help with the English language do not hesitate to ask us help by e-mail, we will always try to help you !!!

Dear friends, Barend & Trees,
I just wanted to let you know that on the brand new compact disc "The Promise" by the group "Earth, Wind & Fire", has a previously unreleased song on it that was co-written by Ross Vannelli called "Where Do We Go From Here?"
This song which was originally recorded during the 1979 "I AM" sessions was shelved until Earth, Wind & Fire leader Maurice White decided to finally release it, with new added production, on the band's new CD! It is "another" great Ross Vannelli find for this fan, hopefully you and other fans will enjoy it too!
Best wishes, Chris & Christine Casale (Ohio/USA)

Hello Barend & Trees, The highlight of my week was last Wednesday I was out shopping and I stopped in my tracks because I heard the voice from heaven. Would you believe they were playing "Something Tells Me"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never heard them play this song but I figured whoever programmed the tape has REALLY GOOD TASTE in music.
So of course I stopped and enjoyed the moment, very special indeed.

Dear Barend and Trees, Greetings from Texas! I wanted to thank you very much for putting my message on the Canto page. That gave me a very warm feeling for you to do that! I just got back from lunch from my house where I watched the video from Canada tv that Chrisy sent me several years ago. It makes me want to go to a Gino concert in the worst way!!

I thought you would get a kick out of this. Last week I was in my yard when my next door neighbor`s son drove up, he is 16. He had his music very loud and when he got out I asked him what he was listening to. He said the it was opera. So I told him I had a cd he needed to hear. I loaned him Live In Montreal. This morning I saw him and he said he loved it. He asked if he could burn a copy of it. Normally I would say no, but I thought if it would make another Gino fan it would be worth. I`m going to tell him to buy the Best Of or the Ultimate collection. That`s about all you can find from Gino around here.

I don`t want to take any more of your time, but I wanted you to know how I became a Gino fan. It was probably around 1975 or 76. I am a musician, in Oklahoma City I played lead guitar in a band called Canyon. We had some friends in another band that we used to go watch, and they did a great version of People Gotta Move. We fell in love with the song not knowing who Gino was, I say we because I have a twin brother, and so we found out who did the song and went and bought the album. I was hooked on Gino then. But once we saw the BTB concert, well then I was hooked for life!!! My brother saw the Slow Love show in Austin with me! What a show! I am soooooooo envyous of the two of you being able to see Gino so many times, ARGH!! I CANNOT beleive the you are so lucky to be able to be friends with him and everyone else involved. Well I`ve taken up enough of your time. May 6th can`t get hear soon enough! Thanks again for all you do. Love, Robert.

Gino Vannelli

He's a white singer/songwriter from Montreal, yet the first major magazine to write about him was Soul. He was one of the few non-black musician to open the show on a U.S Stevie Wonder tour and one of the first caucasian musicians ever to appear on Soul Train. He?s Gino Vannelli, whose sophisticated union of jazz and progressive rock won him the 1975 Juno award (Canada's version of the Grammy) as Most Promising Male Vocalist of the year. Savor the subtlety of Gino Vannelli?s guitar-less sound (he records and performs with 2 keyboard players, three percussionists and 5 synthhesizers ... no Gibsons or Les Pauls). Be among the first Americans to discover why Vannelli?s aggressively non-commercial music has been breaking box office records North of the Border.

Rupert Allan - Rene A. Henry - Rick Ingersoll - Frank McFadden - Morten Segal - Constance L. stone - John Strauss.

Sombody knows something about this ??? Please solve Tonny's mystery !!! You can e-mail us and we will print it overhere or we e-mail it to Tonny in Denmark......

Subject : Gina Bold
An e-mail from Clem in Holland dated 14 December 2002 :

Liefs! Clem.

ENGLISH : Hi Barend and Trees,
I read the piece on the short-story-page from Gina Bold who asked for the lyrics of Gina Bold... (sounds funny like this, but okay.) I am sure you did not have the time to write the lyrics down because of all your work changing the links, logo's and web pages from CDNOW to amazon, so I did lay down in front of the speakers myself with a notepad and pens. Pretty difficult with such an old record that cracks and trembles from the tape, but I could hear and understand it pretty good and reasonably. But I do not know if i wrote down all the lyrics well. Because i could not understand and hear all the words very clear.
This is something of an extreme exception with Gino, because He is the only singer on this planet who's lyrics can be understand and heard from the beginning till the end. Lucky us, because the lyrics Gino writes cannot be missed, we cannot do without Gino's lyrics, isn't it ??!!) So I attached the lyrics of Gina Bold for Gina bold.
(This is already a kind of little short story), Love! Clem.

Here are the words I (Clem) heard :
Gina Bold (Canada 1969)
Once I loved a pretty girl
Her name was Gina Bold
She loved her man
And so the women told
That Gina Bold had never really thought of lovin me
Then we could have lived so happily

But you?re livin in a love that reads
That you never never really love me
Soon there will be a day
When I will have to say

Gina

I whish I never would have seen what you are
Gina
You had a lot of love between
I whish I never would have seen what you are

Even when I am old and grey
I love you Gina Bold
And even though the women would have told
That Gina Bold had got herself a man despite her long,
The man that she?d waited for so long
that you living in a love that reads
that you never never really love me
Soon there will be a day
When I will have to say

Gina
You had a lot of love between
I whish I never would have seen what you are

Guilty mind by far

Gina

Hi there
You might be amazed - I was - my name is Gina Bold... I did a search on the web and found Gino's first record was called Gina Bold. So can anyone help me? I would love to find out how he came up with the title. Did he know another Gina somewhere, or did he come across me somehow? Mind you I was ten or eleven at the time, but I did go to gigs like the Rolling Stones concert in Hyde Park. Some music came up on one site which seemed to be the song Gina Bold, but there were no lyrics, so was the song actually an instrumental, or does anyone have some lyrics for it?
Please e-mail to Barend and Trees and they will give it to me......
Yours
Gina Bold

Barend & Trees,
So very nice to see that your spirit for Gino has gone unwained after all of this time. I'm so very glad that your web site is doing well...I'm glad to help you to break your record for visits. I feel spoiled to know that there are people in this world that share the same passion for Gino's work as I do.

The other day (Saturday) , I created yet a NEW GINO FAN !!! During the course of a 5 hour drive from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia I had the opportunity to play "Yonder Tree" to a fellow engineer who hadn't thoght that Gino had done anything since Brother to Brother... when we were done, he turned to me and said; "This album is a SPIRITUAL experience...how come the world doesn't know about it ???" He then asked where can he get one... I gave him mine (I have a couple of copies). I have since talked to him last night (Tuesday), and he said that he hasn't stopped listening, and that he hasn't been this excited about a record in over 20 years. (WAY TO GO GINO !!!)

I share this typical Gino experience with you because I know that you two both enjoy the happy experiences of creating new Gino fans.

My album for the families of the victims of the Twin Tower tragedy has raised well over a quarter of a million dollars (mostly in corporate gifts), and I'm glad that we could do something to help. I have Joe Vannelli playing on Jimmy Haslip's track. Any information that you can share over in Europe that can help get the world out will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
WE STAND AS ONE WORLD.....

God Bless you, and keep up the GREAT WORK !!!
Pat Conneen.

Hello again it is me Jimma James just thought I would write and tell you that story I promised you.
Gino came to Charlotte, NC I think it was around 1993 and played in a local bar called The Palomino Club now I was on the road at the time myself and also down with the flu. But I managed to make it to the concert since is was the very first time I would have ever seen him!! Well I couldn't believe that he was coming there in the first place and on top of that it was only $10.00 ticket. Now I would say that Gino has forgotten about this because it was kind of embarrassing to Him and us as fans. But during his show he had finished doing brother to brother and was talking to the audience when all of the sudden one of the waitresses that work there shouted out "Hey Gino could you please tell so n so that he needs to move his car" "Martha has to go home" Now to really understand the embarrassment you would have to understand the tone and the way southern people talk here in the United States! Now it was bad enough to have to see him in this bar but for that to happen I am sure he was beside himself! But His response was cool and calm He said "I thought I had past the public announcement years ago" and laughed!! I have to give that one to him because to me Gino is far beyond where he was and more! But my Wife, My friend and I was embarrassed for him.

We laugh at it today and remember what a wonderful sound and talent we had the pleasure of seeing! Gino to this day keeps me going and makes me always remember why I love music so much! Thanks and I hope you enjoy! your friend and always listener Jimma James. Go to the cornerband web site and search for Jimma James. Here is another web site with my music !

Thank you very much for your interest in my letter!! It is very appreciated and up lifting! I hope that you enjoy my Christmas music and also be looking for my CD Jimma James "Believing in Dreams" In late spring. Gino has been nothing but total inspiration in my life from the time I heard "People Gotta Move" I have only seen Gino one time here in North Carolina and it was one of the best experiences in my musical career!

I have a funny but embarrassing story probably at the time for Gino and for myself! I will write it and send it to you when I get a chance! Something happened this past week too, that should be very up lifting for you, Gino and all other fans. I have a young drummer friend that is 18 years old he has been helping me with my production studio and other projects. Well the other night he heard Brother to Brother CD for the very first time and loved it! He said he was amazed at the quality and excitement that it give him as a young musician!! So now I'm pretty sure he is hooked! This is a wonderful thing and that is one of my goals is to introduce Gino Vannelli to as many young fans as I can! and so far excellent results!!! So keep this page flowing with the love of music ---- from new and old friends Thanks Jimma James.

Hello there, here's a Dutch fan with an incredible story. First of all I want to tell you that your site is great! There's so much to see, hear and read. It's amazing!

Well, here's my story. A year and a half ago my husband died suddenly and my life became a total mess. Till last July, when I saw the announcement on tv that Gino Vannelli would perform at the North Sea Jazz Festival. So I thought, lets by a ticket and see what happens (Gino was my favorite 25 years ago, but I lost track of him). At that moment I never thought I could smile, dance or enjoy life again. So, I took some friends with me (who actually never heard of Gino nor his music) and there I was at the front row, becoming nervous just before he went on stage. And there he was: it felt like magic. His music, his voice and his looks made me feel so good. I enjoyed every second of his concert. (The Metropolitan Orchestra was very great also). Believe it or not, he became my light in the darkness. He put me back on the right track. Please don't get me wrong, my husband is and will always be my number one. I just wanted to thank Gino for given me such a good feeling. I?ll never forget what happened to me that afternoon. Well, I hope my story didn't sound that dramatic, because it is not. I feel life different now and I just wanted to share my feelings with you and all the other fans. I guess you all know what I mean. Maybe you can give my thanks to Gino. By the way, I bought two tickets for Frederiksberg (Saturday and Sunday!). I?m travelling all by myself and maybe we will see eachother there. (Note: I hope my English isn't that bad, please do not hesitate to make corrections. I also hope you?ll put this email on your site.)
Thanks for reading my mail! Kind regards, Mieke Bonsang from Holland.

RE: Gino Vannelli

Hi! I just found your website for Gino Vannelli! Wow!! It is great and you guys are great to dedicate such a wonderful website to Gino!!

I was amazed to find it and also amazed at how much Gino has been doing.!!!! You see, I was a big fan of Gino's in the 70's and 80's. I even saw him in concert in Philadelphia (USA) and it was, as you know, absolutely fabulous, I met him after the concert, he kissed my cheek and signed my program!!! I was thrilled!! And then it seemed as if he just disappeared for the longest time. Then in, I guess it was either 1990 or 1991, I heard that he was appearing in our area, in New Jersey (USA)! And I got a chance to seem him again in concert!! After that, I didn't hear much about Gino again.
I was just wondering if you know what happened to him after his big success in the States in the 70's and early 80's?? Anyway, I am glad I found your page. I just love his music and now that I know he is back will try to find his new cd's etc. And be a regular on your webpage for Gino!!!
Do you know if he will be performing in the USA any time soon?? I would love to go see him if he is. Thanks for listening to me.
A Big Gino Vannelli Fan, Lynn Del Margio dated 17 June 2002.

Hello Barend and Trees,
This past Sunday my husband, my daughter and I drove up to Cleveland, Ohio to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We had gone about 6 years ago but decided to go back to see the John Lennon exhibit. Actually, it was Laurens idea to go; she loves all kind of music and said the only thing she had remembered about the first visit was Michael Jackson's sequin glove, haha. While we were contemplating about taking the trip, Lauren said, "Mom probably won't want to go because there won't be anything on Gino there". I said, even though Gino isn't considered Rock and Roll, he could be in any Music Hall of Fame for just about any category and you cannot say that about some of the artist that you will be seeing there.

As we were walking around the museum, every now and then I would look at my family and make sad disappointing faces, saying, " boo hoo, no Gino". They smiled and snickered and said," we told you you wouldn't find anything on Gino here". Well, we had a nice time and it was quit an experience walking down memory lane with artist that I grew up with and I did see a jacket and a flute from my high school favorite, Jethro Tull. Now, that one really did "spin me back down through my youth". As we were leaving we decided to make a stop in the gift/ music store. The three of us went our separate ways and sure enough I went straight for the V section in the cd's saying to myself, "let there be Gino cd's, the Master has to be here"!!!!! Yes!!!!!! Right there in front of my eyes were a stack of cd's for Gino Vannelli !!!!!!!! I took them all out, clutched them to my heart and turned around with a huge smile on my face. There stood David and Lauren laughing and saying, "we knew you would be in the V section". I yelled, Gino is here!!!!!!!!!Lauren said, now you're really happy mom, Gino IS in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame after all. I am extremely delighted to say, I purchased The Millennium Collection cd which they had several copies of. The trip was well worth it, and with a happy ending.
Yes, you can put this story in if you want to! Cyndi dated 28 May 2002.

FATHER MY FATHER
(Words inspired by: " Parole Per Mio Padre ", written by Gino Vannelli)

I remember you father as you were
Before death so full of life
And not always understanding me
As I also misunderstood you

But the memory of you is bigger than life
As emotions stir me to tears
Even now I feel your guiding hands
Showing me the way to truths before unknown

Oh father if I could see you now
I would say that I've missed you so
And tell you what you've meant to me
As father and son we will always be

Father, my father- tell our father in heaven
Your loving son believes in you both
Thank Him for our time on earth together
And the promise of seeing you again soon

Oh father, my father, I long to see you
To tell you all I never could say before
To have a moment of your time again
As father and son we will always stay

A dream :
Oh, by the way. I had a dream about Gino and of course, he was so gorgeous. But you know how dreams are - crazy! All I can remember of the dream is that I had gone to visit Gino and he wasn't there (wherever that was). Someone told him, and he came to me with a bouquet of flowers - well, not exactly flowers - it was a bouquet of greens he had put together from the kitchen trash in a hotel! LOL !!! You know, like celery, carrot tops, other shredded items. BUT, I loved them anyway. They were from a man who has a special spot in my heart.
Now, I must say TTYL. Love, Anne-Marie dated 17 May 2002.

Hello Barend and Trees,
Hope all is well. Yesterday was Joseph's birthday. I Bought him a CD stereo system and he was very suprised. But then I told him I bought him something he could play on it, although he has CD's by the hundreds, when he opened the case and saw the Gino CD, he couldn't talk. He was blown away. Then he setup his CD stereo and played the CD. He began to cry. He loves Gino so much. Gino saved his life.

I don't know if I told you this, but my husband was going to commit suicide when he was only 13 years old. That same year his brother introduced him to Gino Vannelli's "The Gist Of The Gemini". He loved it. He listened to the words and his voice and the way Gino expressed himself, he just loved it. So when things got tough in his home, he would play Gino and he would be in his own world where no one could touch him.
I myself thank God for Mr. Vannelli, if it weren't' for his music, I would not be with my Joe today.

Thank you again Barend and Trees for all you help and your blessing. I wish you the same. Have a wonderful week dated .
Caring, Lourdes F.

Hello Barend & Trees,
Thank you for your very kind words. Yes, it would be an honor if you would print my story on your web page. Mr. Vannelli is a gift from God sent to save my Joe. I will always keep him in my prayers. People should know how he's changed my husband's life.
Thank you again for asking and God Bless.

" I Don't Need Your Picture"
I don't need your picture
and I don't need no old letters
stained by days gone by

Never need to say "what if ?"
or "what happened?"
or "wonder where she is now?"

Cause babe you're right beside me
where you always wanted to be
and babe we've made it together
through the worst of stormy weather

Never mattered if rich or poor
we always found a way to soar
above the worries of a world gone mad
you are the best I' ve ever had !

Our silence is always golden
cause we know that words can kill
but a single glance can thrill
and set our passion ablaze

I don' need your picture
from some scrapbook cracked by time
or letters that you wrote me
save like an old aged wine

cause babe your'e right beside me
where I always wanted you to be
and we'll always make it together
through all life's stormy weather

Dear Barend and Trees,
Gino is very lucky to have friends like you to spread the good news and let him know that he has many fans even though we seem to be very spread out all over the world.

YOU BOTH ARE AWESOME!!!!!!
I'll be praying for Gino and his career today, tomorrow and Monday. He needs to keep producing his unique and wonderful music and I keep hoping that the powers in the music industry will open their eyes and ears and realize what a magnificent musician he is. I just don't understand why the rest of the world hasn't yet woken up and realized that such a great artist is in our midst!! I want him to not only have the money to keep producing his musical projects but to be able to take good care of his family, too; that they have all that they need and want -- and the same wishes for both of you also. (Actually it would be great if everyone in the world always had enough but I'm not expecting to see that happen in my lifetime.) If the world rewarded artists based on their hard work and talent, Gino would be the richest man in the world.

I ordered his new "Masters" CD and boy does it bring back good memories. I am in awe of the range of his voice as well as the incredible smoothness and power. Frank Sinatra didn't have HALF of what Gino Vannelli has (in my opinion). He has the best voice in the world; Bruno Pelletier second and Andrea Bocelli third (again just my own opinion of three GREATS that I ALWAYS love to listen to). When Gino hits that high note in "A Word to My Father" I get goosebumps every time. And also on his "Live in Montreal" CD. God put so much talent into that man!

I'll be checking out your WEBSITE!!!!!! Monday morning before I go to work. I am so grateful that you keep Gino's fans updated and I love so much how you express exactly how I and the rest of his fans feel. I don't have the guts to put it in writing myself but I am so glad that you do!!!!

And I like the new pictures. Gino is still what we call "eye candy"; that is he's still very, very handsome, but my all-time favorite picture is the one in the newspaper (Dutch??) that you have on your website. It's an older picture but he looks so relaxed and happy and that's what I like most about it. Take care. God bless you both (and Gino and his family).
Ramona One of YOUR many FRIENDS and ADMIRERS in the U.S. dated 27 April 2002.

My heart & soul will be in New York on April the 29th !!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the 29th I and everyone in my circle of friends and family will be praying and sending good wishes for GINO and his show and the artists sharing his stage. And not just for GINO, for we are truly hoping for ourselves, because the more his art (of all kinds) is heard and seen and accepted the more he'll be able to share with us and the rest of the world. So, I wish well for him which turns around and makes life wonderful for me if he succeeds.

Plus we'll all cross our fingers that the investors will see GINO, our man, for his creativeness and brilliance and artistic abilities and without prejudice to what they remember (or think they remember) from the 70's. I pray they will be hearing the show with their hearts and open minds, without jealously, and see and look at it and GINO for what he is and has to offer.

If they do that then we know they would have to give him all the money and support and confidence that the world has. Because then we know all the rewards would come back to them ten times over. As you and I have been rewarded for our support of GINO's work. We are rewarded with the work and being allowed to enjoy and share in it !!
love bunches, Deborah D. from the USA, dated 26 april 2002.

Well, the Juno awards were on Sunday night and I did not get to see them. Apparently they were aired on a different Canadian station and we only get one Canadian station on our cable. Darn! Anyway, many years ago, I first saw Gino on the station that we do get and it was the Brother to Brother concert video. I believe this is the first time I saw Gino in action. I think the second time I saw him was when he received the People's Choice Award from Suzanne Sommers as the star of the future or something like that. Wow!! I wish I had that on tape. So many years ago. Probably before VCRs. LOL
Take care. Love, Anne-Marie S. 22 April 2002.

Dear B & T:
I have been a Gino fan in Detroit ever since Mama Coco started to be played on the Canadian stations that we can listen to because we are so near the border. Back then the Canadian stations were required to play a percentage of Canadian musical artists. This is how The Guess Who, Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell first made it in the US market. A little known fact!
Anyway, I saw Gino perform in Detroit three times, the last being the Yonder Tree Tour. I gradually lost contact with his music. But in the past month I have redesicovered my love for him and his sound. And I remembered that he wrote a sweet ballad to my long departed friend Jim Croce (a fact that I had totally forgotten) and I searched the webs for Gino sites...and I came across you two.
Congrats.

People always get asked where they were and what they were doing when JF Kennedy was killed or when Princess Diana died. Well I know where I was the very first time I heard a Gino Vannelli song.

I was happily sitting and drinking away in a little bar which was owned by a friend of mine, when this amazing song was played. It just "hit" me like certain very good songs do. I asked my friend who that was and he told me it was some Canadian guy called Gino Vannelli. He played the song several times that night and I decided that I should go and get this record (as it was in the early 70's). Alcohol intake that night made me forget about it though.

A few days later I walked past a record shop and my eye caught this gorgeous looking person on an album sleeve. As I was in a hurry I couldn't stop and check it out, but I promised myself I would at the very first available opportunity. Again due to being busy I didn't. And then....... came along an evening in front of the television. Flicking between the stations, I caught a very tiny bit of a tune which I recently heard (yes you guessed it!!), so quickly I went back to that particular channel, which had a show on called "De Van Speijk Show", and there he was, this amazing singer from Canada singing this fantastic song called "People Gotta Move". And looking at his face, I all of a sudden realised where I had seen it before. Yes on the album sleeve outside the record shop in town. I loved the music, the singing, the lyrics, and everything else. Needless to say that the next day I went out to that same record shop and bought whatever I could find of Gino Vannelli, which at that point was "Storm At Sunup", "Crazy Life" and "Powerful People". I loved every piece on all albums and up until this day, this music Gino Vannelli creates, sings, makes, writes, whatever you want to name it is something that gives me great enjoyment to listen to, lifts me up when I am down, fills me with love, and makes me want to listen to it over and over again. I never get fed up with it, and I hope that Gino will go on forever using this gift he has been given.
Marjan Brazier. 1 April 2002.

HI BAREND AND TREES,
I have just been in touch with the former Olympic Gold medallist and British world champion figure ice skater Robin Cousins.
I remembered seeing him on tv performing to PAUPER IN PARADISE, THE THIRD MOVEMENT around 1980
( a staggering performance!!) I have never forgotten it.... so looked him up on his website. I found a page on his music used for his performances, lo and behold the PAUPER track was not on there!! Here is my e mail i sent to Robin and his response. Hope you like it !!!!!!

robin used a piece of music from the album "pauper in paradise", the third movement, by a canadian artist called "GINO VANNELLI", (1977) I remember it well as i'm an avid fan of this little known singer/composer. please could you tell me if this was in the 1980 olympics, or when??? i would very much like to pass this information on to ginos' websight ,as we scour the world searching for such titbits! robin skated to this in one of his qualifying rounds.

hi Tina I had never heard of this number, and I know Robin didn't use it in the '80 Olympics (or any US TV appearance that I'm aware of, and I believe that I have all of his US TV appearances from 1977 on), but I asked Robin, and he says that he did skate to Pauper in Paradise, but as an exhibition number in the late 70's. He said that he was a big fan of Gino Vannelli and loved the mix of classical and rock. Robin was surprised that you knew of the number and says he's not aware of it ever having been taped for TV-- may I ask how you found out about it, and for that matter if by any chance you would happen to have video of Robin's exhibition?! And where is the website for Gino?
I hope that this helps.
Best wishes, Lois.

End of messages !!

A Musical Journey with Gino by David
Gino, Gino how heavenly the sounds you have made for us
from "Crazy Life" where we first discovered your voice
as you sang to us about Cherizar and a Great Lake Canoe
.... ( all of us need to find the tributary to his kingdom)
we began the journey with you that took us next to feel
the ruthlessness of "Powerful People" who still today
steal the salt from the sea
..... and then we cry with you as we remember "Poor Happy Jimmy"
Then the beautiful ballad of "Lady" that brings back the flood of memories
of loves lost and found in each listener's own life!

I'm taking a musical journey tonight with Gino
( he has freely given us a life's work of passion)
? Storm at Sunup" is a one night stand of love and lust that says "love me now"
Shall we fear such a beautiful thing?
and then the question of "Where Am I Going?"
a haunting self observation of where one might be
so many years later
so many events later
so many experiences later
so many loves later
?Have I seen too much, Have I lost my touch??

Gino, the journey you lead me on tonight
excites me, lifts me, haunts me
your life's work through my ears
whirling in my head
electrifying my senses !
As we travel with you as paupers in paradise
And as you unravel the Gist of the Gemini
You give us more of your vision of love and war
?If the day should come to fight for what is right ,would you go??
A song that rings stronger since September 11th
Such songs never die when from the heart they come
Gino, Gino tell us more in songs to come
We know that you have struggled to keep the faith
And to stay true to yourself
Self discovery created an ?Inconsolable Man?
Where all kinds of truths are sung about
You sing to us the visions of your world
So we may share in the experience
Of your heart and soul
Yonder Tree and Slow Love see a wiser and stronger man
Your father smiles down upon you as you seek and find
? a word to my father? reconciles the past with the present
And we travel with you as before on this journey
` As you help us to ?see the world as a plum?
Daring us to reconnect with the ?spiritual world?

Yes, I?m on a musical journey with Gino
and I never grow weary of this trip
Always thirsting for more
Awaiting the next of our travels together!

Gino Vannelli has been my favorite singer since about 1977 -"Brother to Brother". The thing that I've found over the years is that Gino is timeless. His songs, vocal style and depth is so much more than most of the male singers of our time. Even after all these years, I never tire of listening to his voice and play his music quite frequently. After 18 years of marriage and 4 children, my wife and I have special moments where Gino is a part of.

When I met my wife, I fell very much in love with her. And I found that I could not find the words to express the deep love I had toward her. So I did the next best thing-I let Gino say it for me. I played several songs from my collection of Gino record albums for her, and I told her that these were the words that I didn't know how to say but that they were my very same feelings. As would be expected, she also became a diehard Gino fan. To this day we're absolutely in love with Gino.

Thank you Gino Vannelli, for all your hard work, dedication and talent. Also, thanks to all of your musicians, producers, technical people and everyone else who helped in the making of all that Gino Vannelli is.
Sincerely-Aurelio Aguilar

HANDS ACROSS THE OCEAN
(WRITTEN FOR BAREND AND TREES)
In wet and dreary grey Holland across the blue
are friends of mine who share music's passion
and those artists who truly inspire us to listen

in dreams we dream the pictures they create
and hear the language spoken and understood
by everyman, everywhere without barriers

hands across the ocean touched by music shared
and dreaming childlike of a new work to lift us
above the humdrum of an ordinary existence

we have a common hero in our world of music
who is never common in the art he weaves
as he keeps our anticipations fresh and alive

lets keep this bond of music strong and
let it lift us up and carry us away
to distant lands where instruments
and lyrics caress us forever.

Dear Sirs,
The song, "Put the weight on my shoulders", has always been a favorite of mine, which has a great deal of significance of events in my life that this song has actually been a very important part of.
Briefly, it was this song that I found very deeply moving at a time in my life that was very, very unsure and uncertain. I felt it was speaking to me directly, and I don't mind telling you, that it actually "carried me" through during that time. So I'm writing this note because I've never been able to exactly understand all the words in parts of the song. I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of the words, if you're able. My sincere thanks.
Aurelio Aguilar.

Lyrics : Put The Weight On My Shoulders..... From Gino Vannelli's 7th album NIGHTWALKER......

Hello to you, and thank you for doing this. I do not own a computer, so I am using a friend's. One of the first things I thought that I would like to "look up" was if there were anything about Gino Vannelli on the internet. I very much like the "shameless devotion" part. It is wonderful to just say what a big fan a person is and not try to qualify it to make it seem more cynical or cool or appropriate. I began listening to Gino's music in 1974, and it was a big part of my college years. I felt that his music was very advanced and trend-setting, that he was a serious talent. I have always been baffled as to why his music has not had a wider following. It does seem that much of today's music has gone toward concepts that he was trying out twenty five and thirty years ago.

I have attended one Gino Vannelli concert. It was twenty years ago in Norman, Oklahoma. I felt very, strange about the experience. Perhaps I could best express it by saying it seemed that the venue was not the best for his particular talents. Or perhaps it was that he was feeling somewhat jaded or tired with that whole scene.

At any rate, I was so far from the stage that I could hardly see him and the band anyway. My car would not start after the concert. I was so financially poor back in those starving music student days that I had to spend the night sleeping on someone's floor. A hotel was out of question.

I've been glad, in recent years, to hear Mr. Vannelli going toward more jazz and classical endeavors. They do seem to suit him, and I do feel that if pop stardom had come his way, he would not have grown, perhaps, in his music.

All this is rather silly for me to be saying. I know nothing of Mr. Vannelli as a person but only as someone whose records highly influenced me in my twenties. Suffice it to say that when I was that age, if I could have had a wish come true, it might well have been that I sit down and have a conversation with Gino Vannelli. Now I sit here a little amused with myself, for, that wish would still be there, after all these years! I guess when a person has cared so deeply for another person's music, some sort of real link is formed, even though the musician and the listener remain strangers.

If it seems that I "know" Gino, it can only be that we are united in some heart realm in which there are no strangers.

Thank you for having this site. May every sweet blessing and fortunate experience be yours.
Sincerely, Annie Carter, Berryville, Arkansas USA

Hi, from a long time couple of fans from uk who now reside in oz, we have just got ourselves a pc
My very first visit to a website could only have been to Gino.We are together again after twenty years because of Gino, we met listening to Gino, We owe our love and lives together to our Gino. What a pleasurable man he is. Would give my right arm to see him in the flesh, in Perth Western Australia, in fact, would sell my soul to the devil!!!!

I just recently ordered The gist of the Gemini on CD and I can't help but see how ahead of his time Gino was everything Gino is singing about on this album are right on for what's happening now. If you dont belive me listen to this
"If God is good then God be cruel and take back the world you've granted the fools, salvage the land that is best without man and all his greed" this is just one line from "Summers of my life" so you could imagine what the rest of the lyrics are like. Gino turns the "wheels of life" with his music which sometimes make you "feel like flyin"

Hi, I am an avid fan who started in 1978 with "Gist of the Gemini" and fell emotionally attatched to his style and messege. It captivated me while I was in England and looked in USA for any albums I could get. I have many and when I ask people of his music, it is a select few who know him because of his unique style and deversity. I love his way of mixing percussion, electronics, symphony, and his voice that is out of this world. He enable me to understand that their are musical notes and arrangements that are heaven sent. I am so at peace to know he has a web site. I have always wanted to see him in concert and perhaps there is a chance still. I listened to his radio broadcast of September breakfast, he has such a love and guilest manner in his voice. He sings from his heart. I will continue to collect all I can find for the legacy he is treading. God Bless You Gino & Ross and the family.

Dear Gino,
Probably you will never read this mail. In the world there are many people who will never meet each other, but who have the same hopes, the same dreams, the same fears, the same vibrations. I have discovered that I am near to you; it will never be enough, during this short lifetime, my wish to listen to you. And to him who makes you dream, hope, moves you, or makes you laugh, I can never thank them enough. Thank you Gino, and who knows, in this or the next life, we might meet.

Dear Barend and Trees,
The funniest thing just happened and I thought you'd appreciate it.
Today, while driving in my car, I attempted to call my husband at home ( I know that I shouldn't do that while driving). I thought that the phone didn't actually dial the number, and since I was driving, I just dropped the phone on my lap. I also happened to be listening to the Live in Montreal CD at the time. Many hours later, after a tiring day, I decided to check my phone messages, and to my delight, I had a "message" of Gino singing "Crazy Life" on my machine! It was perfect. It started right at the beginning of the song and played almost in its entiretly! I stood there and listened to the whole thing - with a big smile on my face. That's my story.
Thanks for reading it. I hope you are both well and having fun in your communications with Gino. Take care.
Sincerely, Jill from Miami Springs.

Hello,Barend & Trees, My friend was in Atlantic City at a cocktail party at the Trump Marina Casino.
GINO played this venue in March, 1999. I received a call from my friend telling me that she looked up and there was GINO. I begged her to steal the picture, HA! HA! but she did speak to the entertainment vp who thought GINO was coming back to Atlantic City. I might be able to get a copy of this picture. Just wanted to say Hi,

I am 47, have been a singer all my life, and didnt know exactly how good I was until I was influenced by Gino Vannelli. Dont get me wrong, no-one is in Ginos catagory, but some of us learned a lot from him. In 1980, I was on the road playing thru the south. My bassists wife had been telling me I sounded a little like Gino and I didnt even know who he was. She gave me a copy of "Storm at Sunup". From the first cut I was in tears. After listening to so many styles of music from 60s-70s rock, blues, R&B, Jazz, and country and being strongly influenced in each, I had finally found MY music. I was listening to the greatest vocalist of all time.

He was in a catagory all by himself. Before him there was of course Nat King Cole, Al Jarreau, and many others but none had what Gino had. The musicians on his albums was worth the price of the records alone. The original songs were inspiring. The Vannelli brothers with Gino at the helm had become my heros. I bought every album possible. My voice changed from good to very good and I was drowned in compliments. Yes I had found my mentor and I wish I could personally thank him for being such a huge part of my learning experience. Even now i can tear up when I hear certain Gino songs. My son doesnt understand it but oh well. Anyway, thanks Gino and never stop writing and singing and I hope someday to see you live. In the south that probably wont happen tho. Gino is my bro. That is that.
Bill Mack.

A cry for help from a GINO VANNELLI FAN IN OREGON !!!

A music room for a school in Oregon, USA.
Hello:
I am the parent of a 4th and 7th grader at Forest Hills Lutheran School in Cornelius, Oregon.
(approx. 45 minutes from Portland).
I attended Gino Vanelli's debut at Carnigie Hall while I was living in New York during the late 70's/early 80's.
I am looking for any help possible for funding our new music room.
It would be most appreciative.
Sincerely, Holly Sue Brooks, Brooks & Brooks Investment Advisors.
Dear Barend and Trees:
Thank you for responding to my last email.
Forest Hills Lutheran School is a small school with grades ranging from K-8th. We are in the process of building a new gym and music room. Many of the students here study music. I have been a fan of Gino Vannelli since the late 1970's. I also thought that Gino Vannelli had a house here in the Portland, Oregon area but I am not positive of that. However, it looks like he has recorded in this area due to the press release I read from ASC in Eugene, Oregon.

Enclosed is a wish list to anyone who would like to donate to our music needs:
Carpeting @ $12.50/yd = $2250
Chairs @ $25 each = 875
Tables 500
Desk, filing cabinet 500
CD Sound System 500
Music Stands 500
White Board 250
Suzuki Keyboard 2000
Band Instruments 5500

Please make a check out to: Forest Hills Lutheran School with a note as to where the funds are to be directed. I will write a thank you note and enclose a receipt. You may send the funds to: Holly Brooks P.O. Box 641, Hillsboro, OR 97123 and I will take them to the school. I would like to keep a record as to the outcome of this email.
We would appreciate any help at all. Perhaps we could have a Gino Vannelli wall showing all that he has accomplished in his musical career. It would be a good example of what can be accomplished in life.
Where ever you post this Barend and Trees, I sincerely appreciate your efforts and thank you very much.
Best Wishes ... Holly Sue Brooks, Brooks & Brooks Investment Advisors.
Parent of 4th and 7th grade students.

I thought I was a true Gino fan, until I saw what you guys have done. I have loved Gino since I was thirteen years old. My devotion is unchanged. When anyone asks who my favorite singer is, without hesitation. I say Gino Vannelli.

My favorite Gino songs include: Crazy Life, Love Me Now, Powerful People, Wheels of Life, The Surest Things can change(that one helped me through a bad break up), Sally (she says the sweetest things, Keep on Walking, Summers of my Life, Black and Blue, Yonder Tree..etc. I could go on and on. When I was a teenager I would buy the a album with his poster in it over and over, just to keep a fresh picture of him on my wall. I hope he comes back to Cleveland again one day. He played at the Odeon. Some of my family members wanted to come with me. But no, I wanted to go alone. I knew I was going to act like an idiot and I didn't want anyone to tell me not to. I jumped up and down in my chair, I screamed and yelled and the only one I embarrassed was me.

I waited until the end of the concert in hopes of meeting him. I did get to meet him. He was so nice. I asked him for a hug and he gave me one. His cologne came off on dress. I still have that dress in a plastic bag.

BRAVO LES AMIS
"Lady" is one of my favorite song and i ve a little story to tell you about this song. A few years ago (1994) i ve spent 4 months for my job in Turkey (in the south east) i missed my family one rainy sunday. I was hearing the locals radio and i ve never forget it suddenly LADY was on airplay, it was like a magic moment when all is silence around you and suddenly you hear a very familiar sound it s like to be at home with all your family and friends. I ve never think that it was possible to hear on radio a GINO' s song in this part of the world. And see the world as a plum ...i ve seen at the same time on stage for the very first time in my life RACHEL Z live with a female jazzy trio band. A great event in Turkey and if you remember well RACHEL Z was on the credit of SLOW LOVE, she is a great artist.

Dear Barend and Trees,
This is a story (and one of my favourites!!) that I have told many times and I hope that Gino reads it. It's a beauty. It is a bit overdue as I have only recently discovered your fan website. Sorry!

I was living in London during 1992/1993 and had always been on the lookout for Gino V tour info, but alas, I never came across any. Then one gloomy Sunday afternoon I was strolling around the West End when I came across this small CD shop. Whilst casually browsing through the CD's I suddenly froze: in my hands was a copy of Gino V's "Live" CD. I had never seen it before and was not even aware of its release. I was speechless. I dashed off to the autobank to withdraw some money in order for me to purchase this prized possesion. For some strange reason on that overcast Sunday afternoon the autobank retained my card( I think in my haste I must have provided an incorrect code or something!!) So there I was without money, no spending power, and CD-less. Exasperated, I trudged home planning my return trip first thing in the morning when the bank would be open and I could then retrieve my bank card and withdraw some money.

So there I was the following morning at the bank retrieving my card and withdrawing money - this time thankfully without any glitches. On my way to buy the "Live" CD, for some bizarre, twist in the tale kinda reason, I decided to pop into a popular coffee shop up Charing Cross Road, planning to have a cup of coffee there first before picking up the CD on my way back to the tube station and then straight home for some intense listening. As I was strolling up the road I came across something that I will not forget in a long time: there right in my path was a waist high advertising board, and scribbled in chalk across it were the words 'Gino Vannelli Live Tonight'. Only dizzy, hardcore Gino V fans will understand what I felt at that particular moment. I then realised that I was standing outside the legendary, and now defunct, Marquee Club. I walked in, and disbelievingly and dazed posed the question, "Is Gino Vannelli playing here tonight?" to the ticket seller behind the glass screen. She nonchalantly replied, "Yes, and how many tickets would you like?" After an extended pause and with a pounding heart I coolly replied, "Four please", not knowing who exactly I was buying them for - all I knew was that I and three others were in for a musical treat later on that day. I pocketed the four tickets and floated outside. I then noticed the ' Inconsolable Man Tour' poster on the wall and slowly began to absorb the reality of it all and that I was not dreaming and that, yes, I would be seeing Gino Vannelli live later on that evening with three other very lucky souls. I raced home, cancelled work scheduled for that night, chose three very lucky( and a bit later very thankful!) house mates and was back at the Marquee Club with time to spare before the start of the show. I remember bumping into some other 'poor soul' muttering the words "I don't believe I'm going to be seeing Gino Vannelli tonight" over and over to himself. Tsk tsk!!

Needless to say the show was awesome and along with about a thousand others I think I was carrying that "little boy grin" around with me for days thereafter. To this day I still shake my head and get goosebumps when I think of the coincidence and the serendipity of it all. I feel connected.

And then along came 'Yonder Tree'...............

I am now waiting in earnest for tour info as I live in Cape Town and I am planning my overseas trip this year around a Gino Vannelli tour date.

C'mon Gino C'mon!! With Love, Paul Harris from South Africa.

Hi!!!! I just wanted to tell you both how much I am enjoying your fan site for Gino. It is really cool and very informative. I listen to a radio station here in Los Angeles called, "WAVE SMOOTH JAZZ", they say it is the sound of Southern California. On it, I hear Gino at least twice a week, but they are only playing "I Just Wanna Stop" and "Wheels Of Life". I am happy that they are doing that, but I am sure you will agree, that there is so much more, especially with Yonder Tree and Slow Love. I play Slow Love all the time, I just love it! I am sure I will like the new one too which he share with Niels. Thank you so much for your site.
Much Love, Miki.

I love Gino Vanelli!!
He's been one of my biggest inspirations. Too bad people in America don't understand his music.

Short story Teresa Torres:
Thanks so much for printing my stories. I did not write them to with the intention of printing, but I admire Gino so much that he has in a way become part of my life. I was in the grocery store doing my shopping today feeling very sad because of the little boy that left my care. ( I am always that way for a few days after a foster child leaves because I do not know if where they went, whether or not they will be okay.) A Gino song came on the store music system, and I knew then that all would be okay. It made me smile a little. Keep on informing us about Gino - I think it really does make the world a better place. :o)

(15)

Short story Teresa Torres: Oh I almost forgot to say that Barend does make good pictures. And here is one more Gino story: Remember the little boy I told you about in another story - James? He went home on Monday. Sunday evening he and I were watching that Gino video that I bought, and as we watched, James grinned and laughed and started trying to imitate the moves Gino was making onstage. Actually it was pretty funny to see - a little 27 pound blonde haired blue eyed boy dancing and trying to sing like Gino. You just had to be there!

Can you stand another Gino story? I was installing a new color printer earlier today and went to your website to print out one of the Vatican pictures in order to test my new machine. The pictures are really beautiful! Anyway, my little sister(she is 32 now) came to my house and I showed her my new printer and how well it worked. When she looked at the picture she said, "I hate that man! He is as old as she is and there is not one single tiny wrinkle on his face or any grey hair that I can see! I am jealous. And I still say that all that hair is a "weave" ". (A weave is what we in the Southeastern US call a toupee or a wig.) Of course, she was joking because she has that kind of sense of humor, but she just could not get over how good he looks now. She saw lots of his pictures as we were growing up because I liked him so much, and have been a fan for many years. She cannot tell that he has aged at all. Neither can I!

11th of March 2001 : Yes I can see the pictures and they are wonderful. That reminds me to tell you about one of the pictures on your site taken when Gino performed in Paris. The photo is of Gino on stage and some people are above him in the background. The nightclub he is in greatly resembles a club I used to work in as a bartender. It is in a town called Macon, Ga. and is 20 minutes from where I live. It was called Nashville South and had an upper level where people could look down on performers from overhead. I must tell you another short Gino story. When I did work in the club (for 5 years!) we had traveling musicians from all over the U.S. come in and play. (Macon Ga. is the hometown of American music legends James Brown, Little Richard, Otis Redding, and the Allman Brothers, among others, and I had met some of them on my job.) Some of them were known all over and some were not, but when you work in a bar, you know the best parties are after you close! In every case all of us (musicians and workers alike) would drink (sometimes) and chat and the conversation would get around to which musicians we liked to listen to. Whenever I would say to one of the visiting musicians that I loved Gino Vannelli, every one of them would say "You like him! He is known in the music business as a musician's musician!" or something like that. Seems like Gino is very respected in the music business for both talent and business sense. That is very rare. About the Vatican pictures - they are great! Keep up the excellent work on the site.

Hi again! Thanks for remembering me. I had a GINO moment that I wanted to share with you.

Yesterday I was parked in the school parking lot waiting for my son and daughter. It had been a long and stressful day and I had the worst headache. I had the car radio playing low and I was just sitting there with my eyes closed when when I heard the familiar beginning music to "People Gotta Move".
To hear this song on American radio is a miracle in itself ! But to hear it just when I needed something to pick me up was wonderful! As the song played on, all the things in my life that were going on when I first heard that song just came flooding back... My father tucking me in and helping me say my bedtime prayers, learning to ride a horse by myself for the first time, catching fireflies in a jar in my backyard at night.... it's amazing how music can trigger such a torrent of vivid memories.

I'm glad that Gino's music was in the background of some of the happiest times in my life. The kids opened the door and got in . My daughter Bianca, who is 8 years old, said right away, " Hey Mom! It's Gino Vannelli!" (she knows her stuff!) The day suddenly seemed a whole lot better. And I know that when she is older she will remember happy times set to the sound of Gino's music too. Keep up your excellent work with the site. Gino has the best fans in the world! I am proud to be included among them. -Paula

Barend & Trees:
I've enjoyed keeping up with your website for the past year or so, for you and many other fans confirm that I am not alone in a "shameless devotion" to Gino Vannelli. His music has been a major inspiration for me since the mid-1970's. There hasn't been a phase in my life (not one!!) in which the beauty of his music wasn't playing in the background. He speaks to my heart, and always will.
Today is August 17, 2000, and I'm greatly looking forward in two days' time to once again seeing Gino in concert, at the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey. As a resident of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I have made every effort to catch Gino's shows when he has come to my hometown. (I wouldn't miss it for the world!!!) Atlantic City will be the fourth time I've had the privilege of seeing Gino perform live. The passage of time has only enhanced his stage presence, as it has added depth to his writing and vocal talents.
I can only look forward to the next twenty five years!
Homapoor Beverly.

Greetings from Lakeland Florida,I just what to say I like your web-site.The other web-site for Mr. Vannelli is never up-dated.I have pre-ordered his new collection of hits, to bad the record company didnt put on some hard to find songs by him, like the christmas song you were talking about(I am searching now for it)and the 45 I heard once called Gina Bold, with the flip-side Never Cry Again.

Let me tell you a little about myself,Im 33/M,and love all Gino Vannelli offerings he has ever done. My pride was when I waited 15 years to get my hands on Crazy Life on cd format from e-day,from a person in Italy, paid 100.00 for this rare gem, and so happy I have it in my collection now. Last year I had the pleasure of see him in concert for the first time. The revue only held 1000 people and Gino was so amazed that people in Florida still remember him( since I Just Wanna Stop) when he was down here last. It was a very memberable time, and after the concert,as we were leaving a lady at the door said that Gino was going to sign autographs,we had to stay. I was one of the first people to get his autograph, and a hand shake, and tell him how much his music meant to me. But anyways it was totally cool!!! Do you have any idea if he is in the studio working on new material? What is your favorite song? Mine would have to be Where Am I Going and The Surest Things Can Change. Well let me get going. Hope to hear from you.GINO WILL ALWAYS BE #1 IN MY BOOK!!!!! BYE for now............
Joey Tulo.

Hello Barend & Trees,
I have been a fan since hearing Storm at sunup one night on a late shift back in 1976 in Toronto I have had the privilege and good fortune of seeing Gino in concert for several of his Tours 1977 A Pauper In Paradise 1979 Brother to Brother and several club dates in the 80' and 90's I have also met him in person during the taping of Canadian T.V special during the Brother to Brother tour which eventually became the VHS copy you can order on Gino's website.(He'll remember how often does a fan get an autograph and in the excitement erase it and have him redo it again....being the class act he is he gave me another)......I would like to email him and let him know what his music has meant to me...since you guys have the inside scoop ask him if that is at all possible without the world reading my e-mail.
Regards, Keith M.

Good Afternoon! I thought you might like to hear a cute Gino story. Here it is - it is short, so it won't be published, but it is funny. Last night, after our evening meal, I went to my room to watch television. I heard 2 of my sons (ages 14 and 9) arguing while they were clearing the table of dirty dishes. It was the sort of good-natured arguing that boys do sometimes. I could not understand what was being said, except for the last words I heard clearly were from my 9 year old son Daniel and he said loudly "I CAN PROVE IT!!!" He came running into my bedroom and began to thumb through some of my old vinyl LP's I had taken out of storage. I said, "Daniel, what are you doing?" He said, "Anthony (that's my 14 year old son) says he has more hair on his chest that any man on earth and Mom I said no he don't and he said prove it so I am going to prove it!!" In Daniel's hands were a copy of the Gino Vannelli LP "Storm At Sunup". He grabbed that LP and went running into the kitchen to show Anthony that photo and said "SEE I TOLD YOU SO!" Anthony said, "Mom is all that hair really his ?" I said, "I think so son, but I don't know the man well enough to be able to say for sure!" All of us had a good laugh, and I popped them both on the behind with a towel and told them to get back to work.
Thought you might need a good laugh!
SINCERELY, TERESA T., USA.

well, It started when I was 14 years old, my brothers band would play Gino Songs in there group and I use to listen to them in the garage when they practiced.. they were ok, but one day my brother had Gist of the Gemini on in the living room and I was listening to it and I could not believe how beautiful his voice was.. and the music it was romantic and passionate and so surreal.. I was taken away.. that was just the beginning.
I bought every album since then and have been a devoted fan ever since.. his music makes me cry and makes me think of life in a whole different way..Its not that IM crying because the music is sad its just so beautiful and surreal that it makes me cry.. my favorite song is Love me now.. but I love them all.. and its hard not to fantasize about Gino because he is also so beautiful and sexy.. its just the best.. Thank you Gino.. sincerely your most devoted fan Lisa Ps.. Please come down to northern California like sanjose so I can come and see you play in concert, which is my biggest wish of all.
Lisa Sevaaetasi, USA.

Hello brethren, I just read your email and am glad your trip was so fantastic, "Bravo." You asked me if I would agree to the usage of my email to you. Most definitely. I would be honored to have my letter posted on your wonderful website.
Thanks for asking,
Tony Robledo
B.S. I am in great anticipation of the Doky Brothers Disc. I already love "Tender Lies," plus a reworking of 'I Just Wanna Stop," arranged by no other than Gino himself, I can't wait to get my hands on my copy. Do please keep me informed. Thanks again. Tony Robledo.

Hello, my brethren. Like you, Gino's music has touched my heart and life in a profound way, I often say to people his music is the soundtrack to my life. Gino's music and talent is like a flowing spring in a desolate and barren land.
Yonder Tree is perhaps my all time favorite disc that I have ever heard in my entire life. My two daughters don't like it at all. I told them when I die I want them to really listen to "Yonder Tree" and remember me. My daughters have been forced to endure many miles in my car listening to much of Gino's music (they do like "Love Of My Life"). I believe when they mature they to will appreciate Gino's music as I have. I got to see Gino (once) during the "Yonder Tree" tour at the "Caravan Of Dreams" in Fort Worth, Texas, It was fabulous. Also I seen him once on the "Inconsolable Man" tour (at "The Arcadia" in Dallas), he was spectacular, and you could see the happiness radiating from his face, song after song (including his then new songs) at being so well received after such a long hiatus.

I will check back with you often and hopefully one day you might know when he will be returning to the Dallas area.
Bye for now, Tony Robledo.
